Good Points: Useful size Display for a Netbook
    Good Keyboard
    Rugged Construction

    Bad Points: Lacks CD/DVD Drive

General comments: My HP Notebook got dropped one time too many. It was obvious that it was just too bulky to keep lugging around. What I needed was a Netbook; A compact pc which could run the various programs I use when visiting clients. Trouble is; The Netbooks I looked at were just a wee bit too small. On the internet, the WebPages were too big, as with the many pdf documents I carry around, which means scrolling back and forth just a bit too much. Linux was out of the question also; Although much faster than the Microsoft notebook, like most, I run software only available for Windows, not available on Linux without running a program like 'wine', which is a bit of a faff, so Windows it had to be.
Along came the Asus Eee PC 1000, what a gem. A 10' display, pretty fast CPU, good graphics. It's a really useful tool. It looks more rugged than its rivals, and the keyboard has a nice feel and is big enough to use without feeling cramped.
I do a lot of travelling on busses, trains and planes and this netbook is both small enough to use on cramped seating and big enough to be usable for onsite work. One really useful gadget on this notebook is the Webcam. I find myself using it more and more. It is sharp enough at 1.3 megapixels to record things I want to remember in detail as well as remember some of the lovely scenery I encounter. I never had one before, but now couldn't do without it.
It doesn't have a DVD player or rewriter, which doesn't cause me any problems as I have a desktop pc, but I see it might present a few hang-ups for some. I also had to buy a spare battery as mine only seems to last around 3.5 hours. The sales brochures bragged about 8 hours life, but I found I only have a 3cell battery instead of the sales pitched 6cell one. The 6cell battery has 6600 mAh which is much more than my 4400 mAh, but as I bought it cheap, I can hardly complain.
Of all the technology I have purchased to aid my business, I rate this little Netbook as the most useful I have purchased this year. I thoroughly recommend it.
