Good Points: Very detailed on technique, covers training methods and drills as well as basic technique. Big section on general exercises and weigh training for getting in shape. Covers a lot of areas and gives a detailed overview of training, espicially for a beginner.
Bad Points: Not many advanced techniques like jumping attacks. Also there were some no holds barred moves (like takedowns) not done in pure Muay Thai. Sort of Westernized.
General comments: Chad Boykin, Muay Thai Kickboxing is well organized from brief intro as to the styles usefulness, to the basic moves, and the training. Covers alot of topics regarding pad training, learning basic techniques, thoery, and getting in shape.
Text is very detailed and the combinations section is done in a workbook style with shorthand drills to try. I found this very useful as a reinforcement to taking classes and a refrence guide to training.

Overall a good book for the beginner but it will not be of much benefit for the amateur fighter aside from the motivational issues regarding entering the ring for the first time and advice regarding weight training. Also the technique in some of the photos is poor, for example when throwing the knee strike the face isn't covered properly. All in all `The fighting strategies of Muay Thai` is better as it has most of the material in this book and more.
