“Too expensive for what you actually get”

Written on: 28/02/2014 by HezekiahConley295 (1 review written)

Took my 2 nieces here for a surprise visit to lapland uk before Christmas and was really looking forward to it but must say it was a disappointment for the price they charge. On the day of taking them it was very busy which is to be expected the time your in there is usually around 3 hours but most of that time is taken up on queues and waiting, first of all the time spent with elfs, mother christmas and making toys and seeing father christmas is probably around an hour in the whole time. They… Read Full Review

“Absolutely magical”

Written on: 24/12/2013 by Larzy07 (1 review written)

After reading the reviews I was quite sceptical. However, I found this place truly amazing as I felt I had walked into the film set of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It wasn't too overcrowded like I had heard about Winter Wonderland because they put you into groups. You get to see your children complete several activities and take really good pictures while doing so. Yes it is expensive but worth it. We had lunch in the car before going in so we wouldn't have to buy too much inside. We… Read Full Review

“overpriced unorganised disappointing”

Written on: 20/12/2013

Myself and my family went to Lapland Uk on Saturday 14th December 2014 for a family of 3 we paid £224. As a repeat customer I got priority booking for this, and I was told by my friend who was also a repeat customer she got a free Eco Elf, I did not receive one of these?? When we arrived and parked the car we found ourselves in a muddy bog and then had to walk through this toward a make shift tent to “check in” when we checked in, half an hour before as advised we had to sit down and… Read Full Review

“Absolutely magical”

Written on: 09/12/2013 by Steerhall (2 reviews written)

We have just come back from a wonderful magical day at Lapland UK. Firstly I would like to thank all the staff for making our daughters day, they are all amazing. We arrived a little early for our time slot so we had a hot chocolate in the elf cafe. We then met 2 elves who got 'small folk' and 'big folk' involved straight away. We was then taken to the toy factory where our daughter got to make a Pinocchio puppet and stuffed a bear. The children wasn't allowed to keep the bears but the idea… Read Full Review

“Would have been happy if it had been a third of the price”

Written on: 18/12/2012

LAPLAND UK. Parts of it were great. The beginning, making the toys, decorating biscuits, felt like you were going to another world. The end with Santa was also good but the middle hour and a half was really disappointing and boring. Not so much an ice rink as somewhere for the children to injure themselves as you could no more skate on it than in my front room. Very poor shop ( they advise you when you book to purchase jingles to spend) but there is nothing the children want to buy just some… Read Full Review

“Magical experience but hefty price tag!”

Written on: 17/12/2012 by Mjw1979 (1 review written)

I took my 6 year old to lapland uk and she really wasn't disappointed in the slightest! From the moment you arrive you can see the excitement in the children's faces and even some adults as this isn't your normal run of the mill father Xmas experience. You start of with a great welcome but some very enthusiastic elves who get the children to believe they are about to enter a winter wonderland far away! They go through some brilliant activities including helping them make some teddy bears then… Read Full Review

“Lapland UK, Bewl Water, Kent”

Written on: 09/12/2012

We visited Lapland UK last week and was extremely disappointed, the website site states it is a magical experience, well it was far from that. Firstly you queue for ages to check in, then you go through to meet 2 elves that waffle on and can't act, my son was completely bored and so were many other children. After the elves have handed out passports and sung a song they finally open a door to the Wonderland! Well it was a muddy path with artificial snow sprayed on trees, about 10 metres along… Read Full Review

Yes it's extremely expensive but you can see why it's that price. I don't know why your child was bored as the 30 something in our group were very occupied and full of excitement throughout the day! Def worth more than 1/5 stars!!!

No, this review is wrong. We took our 5 children who are aged 8 and under who all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Even down to our 2 year old who did not want to get off the ice. All I can think is that the parents put a downer on the day (maybe due to a wait) and were expecting to be pampered because it costs a bit more than your run of the mill Lakeside Grotto. It’s up to you to ensure that your children enjoy themselves. It takes work but in the environment provided its not too hard and well worth it. There were 8 of us in total Parents , one Grandparent and 5 children. Yes it cost well over £500.00 probably more than most have spent but to see the looks on our children’s faces was worth every penny. The food again a bit pricy was very good it cost £35.00 for us all to have lunch. Less than any service station.
The elves are putting on an act not waffling on. You have to get in the spirit of things.
And, get this, we brought a bauble as a souvenir. As we were taking down the tree it feel to the floor and broke as it was made out of glass. I e-mailed Lapland on Sunday, they replied today and offered to send a replacement free of charge.
Its reviews like this that gave me anxious nights wondering if the money we spent was wasted. It was not. If you want to pick holes or have unreachable expectations you will not enjoy this day but if you go with an upbeat attitude you will come away with memories that will last forever.

Was really glad to read this. I have just paid for my husband and I to take our two children for this year 2013 and then I started reading the reviews (possibly the wrong way round to have done it!) and was, like you had been, very worried I had wasted my money. Am now looking forward to what hopefully will be a magical day for them:)

Hope you enjoy the day. It looks although it has moved so I cant comment on the new location in Windsor. Just remember if you put in the effort your children will enjoy it. It is like a pantomime so you will have to get involved If you don't and look for faults they probably wont enjoy the day. We are not going this year but would like to go again in a few years time but our children will be a lot older then. Our eldest was 8 when we went so maybe the last time we could get away with it. I posted my review because it is a lot of money so don't worry the scene is set.

I just could not get over some of the comments like 'my 5-1/2 year who never did get a good answer as to why the snow was fake' what do these people expect. You have to be inventive like its magic snow that does not melt.

I only wish I'd read your very accurate review before I went and wasted hundreds on a day out that nearly RUINED the magic of Christmas for my 5-1/2 year who never did get a good answer as to why the snow was fake....and who now thinks she knows how to skate (on plastic). I thought it was disgraceful and I truly do not understand how so many people found magic amongst the queues, temporarily erected marquees and spray painted ply-wood. And although it was nice that FC knew their friends etc, we never once heard him "ho ho" or seem jolly or particularly enthusiastic. I suppose I should be grateful he wasn't a drunk but his purple cheek make up was verging on clown-like.

“A big con”

Written on: 24/11/2012

This was so expensive, the food was terrible and very expensive again, there was a plastic ice rink, and not much more for my two ten year old grand-daughters to do It was very badly organised, and was not one bit exciting as I would have expected for the money that they would have had a lot more people making it a very memorable day for the children. Queing up to get in took forever and caused the two youngest children to be bored and fed up by the time we got into the actual place… Read Full Review

“Magical feel of Christmas!”

Written on: 31/10/2012 by 123robz (1 review written)

I went in December 2008 I understand that was a long time ago however any child who is very festive(like me) will love it and the person who accompanied me loved it two. It was Christmas and snowy the tidy & well organised log cabin for lunch was great service and cosy along with the toy factory and gingerbread house. When we arrived it was quick, staff very organised, festive and polite they wasted no time and was well arranged. The activates were very enjoyable, it was very cute and… Read Full Review

“Fantastic Christmas Wonderland”

Written on: 19/12/2011 by lovesxmas (1 review written)

I booked for a family of 4 back in September at a cost of £270. A month or so before our trip we received the childrens personalised invitations quickly followed by the tickets. As the day approached I read some reviews and started to worry as some reviews were not good....... I needn't of worried. From the moment you arrive it is so very well organised. As you go through each section (in groups of about 50) you are greeted by friendly elves who call all the children forward and the… Read Full Review

“Wonderful experience.... Except for OPC's”

Written on: 18/12/2011

Lapland UK is great - it does what it says on the website and provides a magical, if somewhat capitalistic day out. BUT, what totally ruined it for me personally (my kids still loved it) was how nasty and badly behaved other peoples children were. The place was filled with BRATS who should've been on Santa's naughty list. My children were respectfully listening to and enjoying the tales told by the Sami, the elves and Mother Christmas.... The BRATS were shouting, creating mayhem and likely to… Read Full Review

We booked Laplanduk for our two children it was FANTASTIC we booked it after looking on the website which looked really good. The night before we went I read some reviews and was shocked and very worried about what we were going to find, but I'm happy to say from start to finish it was AMAZING our nearly 4 year old daughter loved every minute of it especially ice skating and meeting father Christmas who new lots about her already which made it all the more magical for her. “Lost that touch”

Written on: 13/12/2011

The overall experience of Lapland UK was OK with my daughter loving meeting Father Christmas. Best one I've seen. The gift is very good (it needed to be at price of admission). However whole day I felt let down from the start...turn up pay £2 parking...not a lot but its the principle. We paid £204 for this and tagging on a compulsory parking was just greed and left a bad taste. Queues are a pain and you can no longer return to the square as after meeting Father Christmas, the route leads past… Read Full Review

“magical experience spoilt by greed”

Written on: 12/12/2011 by kentpoodle (1 review written)

had high expectations which sadly were not realised.Firstly £2 for parking was a surprise. Even tough the entry was timed we still had to wait and queue. The groups were very large (at least 70 in our group) which spoilt to intimate special experience i was expecting. Only half an hour each in the toy factory and gingerbread room which felt a bit rushed and the children seemed confused. Then had one and a half hours free time in the courtyard to with ice skating, huskys shopping and food… Read Full Review

We are a family of four visited 10/12/11 , one child is 9 the other is 6, we all had a fabulus time, there was a little wait for things but that didnt matter, as for the cost i thought it was reasonable! The ice skating was agian brilliant, lots of laughter! The pinacle was seeing The Big Red One was brilliant! He spent time with our children again it was all done really well! I cant see why people are saying its a rip off! One would pay £2.50 for a homemade cupcake in town, so why not there?… Read Full Review

“A TRULY AWFUL, cynical, commercial RIP OFF !!!!!”

Written on: 12/12/2011 by chrisendacott (1 review written)

Went in 2008 and 2009 and it was wonderful, changed dramatically to disappointing in 2010. The children wanted to try again this year, 2011, and it is now TERRIBLE!! Just a nasty, tacky, commercial experience with one short good bit right at the end, the visit to Santa. This is the only thing worth coming for and I would say if that experience alone was available it would be worth £10 each to do it, the rest of the time was awful and a complete waste of money. BAD BITS: Start with the… Read Full Review

“Complete Rip Off - Oh how they fleece you indeed !!!”

Written on: 10/12/2011 by loobey79 (1 review written)

We went to Lapland UK today, a family of 7 (inc our 4 year old twins), this cost well over £500 !! Firstly, be prepared to queue - normally one would expect this at a theme park, but as they promote this isn't a theme park, it is TIMED !! You queue to hand over your day tickets, then you queue to meet the elves to open the doors, then guess what! You open the doors, walk half a metre and you queue again! Very impatient children to be heard. The Children got to stuff teddy bears in the Toy… Read Full Review
