Good Points: Excellent cast and settings. Gary Wilmot was the star as he made the pantomine gel. Strike were amazing. Jen Pringle was full of energy and very good.
Bad Points: Although Gemma Atkinson worked hard, I found her personality dul most of the time, she had no experience of rapport with the audience.
General comments: During the performance we were constantly annoyed and distracted by flashing wands etc. These were sold before and at the interval. My Grandson had to change seats several times to avoid these flashing lights which kept appearing in front of him. It has made my family think twice about attending another performance in the future.

The production of Peter Pan at Manchester was good with decent audio around the theatre, with the best performance by Wendy in the show. The overall production was good, with the effects for Tinkerbell done quite convincingly, and had the children and most of the adults enthralled with joining in. the songs, although not the best did make the show hold together somewhat better than miss atkinson did!on a lesser note, in case any of the theatre staff actually read this, please, tell the childre ...- Read steviejones67's review (305 words)

In a pantomime called Peter Pan, a fair proportion of the show is going to feature a character called Peter Pan, so at least get someone who connects with the audience. Gemma Atkinson to me just seems to have very little personna and certainly not that of a devilish , little imp willing to fight a full grown pirate. Someone told me once that acting was all about actors reacting to other actors and events on the stage - I should imagine pantomime is one step further and involves reacting to the a ...- Read birdrecruit's review (326 words)

We took our two children aged 5 and 9 to see Peter Pan at Manchester Opera House and thought it was absolutley fantacstic. We've seen plently of other pantos and this one was up there with the best. Gary Wilmot was the best by far along with John Thompson and Strike. Gemma wasn't as bad as everyone is making out, although at times she did seem a little embarrased. If this was her first panto I think she did a pretty good job. Well done to everyone involved in the show. My children left with mas ...- Read rio84's review (116 words)

I thought Gemma Atkinson was absolutely dreadful. She looked bored by everything going on around her and appeared to be embarrassed or disinterested in any the scenes especially the dancing and singing parts. This was a great shame as the rest of the cast especially Smee and the pirates were great fun, as a panto should be. Lose Gemma, the show would be much better for it.- Read caz81's review (76 words)

Peter Pan at the Opera House in Manchester was a great production, the pirates were fantastic, the music was wonderful and the kids really enjoyed it. I think it was only the adults who noticed how poor performance Gemma's was.- Read nicolay1970's review (58 words)

I have been taking my children to Manchester pantos from the age of 5 & 7 until early teens and now i am taking my grandchildren they are ages 3 5 7 & 13 and i can honestly say i have never seen such a bad pantomime. In every way it was amateur from the waking croc to the uninteresting Peter Pan who did not connect with the audience. I have taken my own children to see Peter Pan in the past and the difference in the two productions was unbelievable. There was not many "actors" in the product ...- Read fidgit's review (109 words)

Great fun but Atkinson must go! All the pirates were hilarious, especialy hook and smee. This is great fun for all ages. Gemma Atkinson was entirely uninteresting and wooden, her singing was awfull and her dancing and general movement on stage was as bad or perhaps worse. t times she looked disinterested durin performances. I was suprised to see how much more charisma and enthusiasm even her youngest co-stars showed. please Don't let me put you off going to see the panto as it is otherwise grea ...- Read Guest's review (88 words)

We have been to the Opera House pantomime every year for a long time and this was the worst one. Last year (cinderella) was fabulous. This one did not keep our childrens interest at all and the only saving grace for the whole show was Gary Wilmot and the man who played Captain Hook (sorry, his name escapes me at the minute). We spoke to several other families during the break and after the show and they were all of the same thoughts as us that is was a waste of £70. It has put us off g ...- Read beckyeharris's review (139 words)

Very average not a patch on last year! We went to see Peter Pan and the Manchester Opera house and to be honest were left somewhat disappointed. Smee was a good character but I found Peter Pan to be a bit boring and wooden. Also he had problems singing in my opinion. Sorry cannot recommend it this year.- Read Guest's review (58 words)

I loved Gemma Atkinson playing Peter Pan...she never fluffed a line or sang a bad note...she has a really good strong voice...I think she's quite a versatile young actress/model/whatever...There's something about her that you just know is good...Her thoughtfulness and kindness comes across in her acting..She's my favourite...Can't you guess..?
I thought that overall it was a great production and three cheers for the Director...and all the other cast...Well Done...- Read PantoReview's review (166 words)

A nice run up to Christmas. The show is suitable for all ages, (I took my 82 yr old mum) but it is a long show and some children do become a bit restless. Good costumes, good sing along,
Peter Pan at the Manchester Opera house is an excellent pantomine.- Read Guest's review (70 words)
