Movie directed by Danny Bolyle.
Winner of 8 oscars: best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay, best cinematography, best original score, best original song , best film editing and .best sound mixing.
Without any doubt, slum dog millionaire is a movie to watch. The movie is good however isn't the greatest that the 8 oscars that won, pretend to show.
more.
I completely agree with the good performance of Jamal and the brother, the really good cinematography and music, however the plot is a little fantastic since pretends that Jamal the extremely poor boy from the slums of Mumbai, as a result all his life adventures answers correctly to the elaborated questions about classical Indian poetry and American political history that the host of TV show "who wants to Be a Millionaire is asking.
Moreover the look into the poverty to my point of view is little gruesome. In fact the some of the critics in India mention that is pornography of the poverty.

I was aware of all the hype surrounding it, so I decided to leave it a while so I could decide for myself. I really enjoyed this movie. I also found it really interesting as the story gave you a good insight into the life of a "slumdog" and the struggles families and children have to go through when growing up in this unfortunate environment.
This is a feel good movie, as you follow the life of a slumdog, from rags to riches (courtesy of "who wants to be a millionaire") - but the riches aren' ...- Read Taylott's review (128 words)

Slumdog Millionaire is a wonderfully uplifting film with a great plot. It is based on the story of a poor 'slumdog' who manages to get on 'Who wants to be a millionaire'. The structure is really interesting, taking you back into the main character's history. It is very eye-opening, revealing a lot about poverty and social depravity in India's slums. As well as a rags-to-riches story with a twist, it is an endearing love story, with the two main characters battling against the odds to pursue thei ...- Read RACHEL KELLY's review (108 words)

Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best movies of the past few years. I saw it four days ago, and want to go see it again. The three main actors who played the two brothers, and their little friend who is a girl...all the actors who played them throughout their different ages, all did a fabulous jobs. The actors who played jerks were really convincing. The main guy who played Jamal, who was in the quizshow.....he was so believable that you would swear he was one of your best friends.

Slumdog Millionaire is a lovely movie! Loved the story, the film never dragged.Looked like a fairy story, but all those images in India were wonderful to watch. The story was cleverly presented, great action, music, sort of a Bollywood movie, with a European touch.
Great acting, story, directing.- Read sabriana's review (49 words)

if you happen to live in a country where every now and then the prices of the gasoline increases everyday, you tend to believe that there is no hope. the movie Slumdog Millionaire strengthen one's faith.
"God is good" those are the last words of the brother before he died, a gangster yet he recognized the goodness of our Lord.
producers of the film must be applauded!

I went to see Slumdog Millionaire not really knowing a great deal about it having seen it advertised on a lot of London buses as being the 'most uplifing film of the year'. The film was well paced with endearing characters which made you laugh. There were a couple of incidents that make you gasp and not in a nice way but that's what makes it avid viewing. I am glad that it has received all the recent acolades at the Oscars and Golden Globes (as well as other awards) as Danny Boyle should be cong ...- Read speakout's review (140 words and 1 comment)

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. From the advertising I thought it was going to be some kind of rom com set in India. In reality this film enthralled me with moments of brilliant comedy followed by deep sadness. It played havoc with my emotions.I'd thoroughly recommend this film to anyone. Slum dog millionaire is definitely in my top 10 films of all time.If you get the chance go see slum dog millionaire. You won't be disappointed.- Read nintendonut's review (88 words)

Being someone that enjoys reading and likes powerful stories, I can honestly say I think this is the most overrated film of all time. I sat in the cinema bored out of my head for well over 2 houres while I watched this boring, lifeless film full of subtitles. The film is basically about a life love story of a boy from the Mumbai slums that just happens to get on, oh yes, the Indian version of the TV show 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' just to find with love of his life. And you guessed it, wins ...- Read james789's review (171 words)

An engaging film with an endearing main character and strong support. Very realistic (I presume) glimpse into the life of the slums of Bombay and an interesting glance into its transformation into modern Mumbai. Human interest (love story etc) also strong. There are moments of humour and the film is far from depressing and certainly doesn't drag. Lots of action and certainly worth seeing.- Read asperges's review (132 words)

Slumdog Millionaire. Well crafted story line, extremely atmospheric with great directing, cinematography and music, humorous in parts but with a very serious undertone. A "must see" closing titles sequence! I thought this was a wonderful, colourful film with lots of hear and despite some of the horrors a general "feel good" mood to it. I would highly recommend it.
There were a couple of points where I think I missed things or wasn't sure how to interpret them so was still left with a couple of ...- Read NikkiWNikkiW's review (90 words)

Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of a young boy and his brother who are raised and live in the Slums of India. Jamal ( Dev Patel) is a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Directed by Danny Boyle, Loveleen Tandan film watchers fly through the childhood haunts and learn of the challenges, heartbreaks and triumphs of Jamal as he and his brother fend for themselves in India. This was a wonderful eye opening film with scenes which took your breath away and others which made you shy away ...- Read Kezia's review (106 words)
