Good Points: The tour guides that we had at each of our city destinations were excellent (although they were all Freelance working for C&K!).The hotel in Jaipur was excellent

Bad Points: Hotel standards were meant to be 4* (which was reflected in the price we paid) yet most were lucky if they were 2* and even boasted "best hotels under £100 - significantly less than we paid to stay in them. The government back cottage industry scheme is a joke. We're substantially out of pocket from items we purchased and the money back guarantee isn't worth the paper it's written on.

General comments: We recently returned from a Cox & Kings Princly Heritage tour of India. This involved a 10 day tour starting in Delhi and taking in Agra, Jaipur, Jodphur, and Udaipur amongst other destinations. It quickly became apparent that at the end of each city tour the guide takes you to a local traditional craft retail store where the local goods from that region can be bought. We were assured by each C&K representative that the retail stores are backed by the government cottage industry scheme and that you don't need to have any concerns regarding the quality or authenticity of the items you may wish to purchase. With this in mind we spent a large sum of money on a Sapphire in Jaipur and on returning to the UK have had 2 valuations on the stone both of which confirm we have paid substantially more than the stone is worth. Having been promised a money back guarantee we've tried taking this up with C&K who have washed their hands of the problem and are unable to help us.
