Good Points: Supplied with aluminium spare spool
    Smooth retrieve

Bad Points: Limited adjustment on baitrunner mechanism
    Heavy weight
    Thick reel seat
    Fiddly spool change

General comments: For its price the Shakespeare Cypry 6000 Freespool bait running reel 5.6:1 220m of 10lb seems like a bargain especially with the smoothness of the retrieve and the aluminium spare spool supplied. However the illusion ends once the reel is in use. It has a smooth retrieve and casts well. The spool is big and deep with good capacity and with a spare spool provided a good degree of flexibility negating the need to carry a second reel. However the spools are not as sturdy as you expect. Having taken delivery of a number of these reels for a school fishing club one of the spools was accidentally dropped completly destorting the spools cage rendering it unusable without repair. The spools are fiddly to change as once released the drag plates seem to have a life of their own and must be lined up exactly right for it to seat on the reel. This has resulted in some frustration when changing spools at the waterside. The baitrunner mechanism has very little range of adjustment with little difference between full off and full on.It has a very thick reel seat making it difficult to fix to a number of rods other than the big carp rods. The reel is quite a heavyweight especially in small hands however is smooth in use. Whether it will stand the test of time in comparison to other (More expensive) models remains to be seen. The school fishing club will very quickly sort that one out.
