General comments: I don't drive and regularly use First Capital Connects service from Bedford through London and to Brighton. My partner is also a season ticket holder as he commutes to London every day. Not only are First Capital Connect extremely expensive but they offer a low quality train service to their customers. Delays are a daily occurance and their replacement services are a joke.

One early sat morning (1.30am) 'last minute engineering works' took place which meant there were no trains from Kings Cross St Pancras to Bedford (a very busy service). They offered a replacement Bus Service to Hendon (not originally on the line)where we could then pick up a train bound for bedford. The bus driver did not know where he was going and what should have taken 20mins took an hour to get to Hendon. Once arriving at Hendon there was no train until 2hrs45mins later leaving around 70 passengers stranded in the freezing cold at 2.30am(Hendon station was closed and there were no staff to explain what was going on).

First Capital Connect trains are rediculously over crowded and are filthy. My partner is lucky to get a seat to or from work everyday on an hour long train ride - he pays £3,200 per year for this. It is common to find food, chewing gum, vomit and urine in the carriges after 7pm. The toilets are a NO GO area. I once went into the loos to find the sink blocked with sick and the toilet blocked with feaces. I have never once seen a cleaner on their trains.

When there have been overhead cabelling problems or signal failure I have very often found myself stranded on a train between stations for more than an hour with only 1 update from the driver over the tanoy.
