I had an annual season ticket with FFC which cost me £4408! After 3 months, I cancelled my tickets. I was told that the full refund would take 28 days, this was on the 31st March! After many phone calls, and only to be told that they could only email the accounts department and await their response before telling me anything (this usually taking 2 days before someone returned my call with any piece of information) They told me that the chq (worth thousands) was sent out on the 26th April... On 21st Feb 2013, I bought a return train tickets from St Albans to London city thameslinke. When I reached city thameslink station, I could not find my outgoing ticket, so I explained to the ground staff and showed them my return ticket receipt as well as the other copy of my return ticket (city thameslink to St Albans). To my surprise, the staff asked me to pay a fine for £ 20 despite the fact that I only paid £11.50 for the whole return journey, and I have the receipt to prove I did... (read more)

I don't like anything about this awful service. I take the train to and from Cambridge and Kings Cross frequently. The staff are rude, day in, day out. The ticket inspectors are the worst with one or two exceptions. The carriages are filthy. If you do need to use the loos (on the lucky occasions when they are actually available) they are disgusting. And why do they announce the platform at Kings Cross only within a few minutes of the train's due to depart time, so you have to run to the... (read more)

Travelled with Fcc this evening appreciate there would be delays due to weather but why did they offload a train full of people in a snow blizzard at a station that had no facilities or cover and leave us there to wait for an alternative train that was not arriving for a further 40 minutes. Surely it would have made sense to leave us at a station that had facilities. Complete lack of customer care coupled with no information makes my blood boil particularly when we are being robbed blind by... (read more)

Tried cancelling train tickets booked from the First capital connect website. The number they provide for cancellations in their FAQ is for the "Trainline" who had nothing to do with the ticket booking. After calling another number from the website I was told that anything to do with the website was dealt with the web department who they could not transfer the call to, only give me the number for ! Anyways on finally getting connected to the web department( after a long wait) I was advised I... (read more)

First Capital Connect. There is always something. The first you hear off a train only going part of a journey with rail replacement taking place is when you turn up at the station to Start your journey. Sunday from Leagrave the first train is 0602 and what happens 11/03/12 instead of the train going to St Pancreas International it is only going to Hendon with a bus replacement service. This has happened before when you turn up at the station only to find you can not get the train you want... (read more)

Stand on Farringdon station any evening and just listen to the announcements - constant apologies for delays and cancelled trains. I have stopped using First Capital Connect as I am able to use a longer more expensive route using another carrier as an option. However, it's worth it as I don't have to stand on freezing stations waiting on F.C.C any more. Truly an appallingly run company and I can't understand how they retain the franchise. (read more)

I don't drive and regularly use First Capital Connects service from Bedford through London and to Brighton. My partner is also a season ticket holder as he commutes to London every day. Not only are First Capital Connect extremely expensive but they offer a low quality train service to their customers. Delays are a daily occurance and their replacement services are a joke.
One early sat morning (1.30am) 'last minute engineering works' took place which meant there were no trains from Kings...

I see you've been on some of the cleaner trains then :)
You'll be pleased to know they've just been awarded the West Coast Route, replacing Virgin in December 2012...
