delays are the rule not an exception anymore, coaches are terribly crowded and even if you manage to catch the train on time you'll be late the same because of congestion!! ... they are simply the worst service in Europe… Read Full Review

“Late 4/5 time if not cancelled”

“delay, delay, delay”

I am unfortunately forced to use this train on a daily basis due to the location of my home. I have yet to encounter a single day without some form of delay (be it minutes or hours. a ridiculous refund policy to match- only compensating for delays of 30 minutes plus!! and absolutely no compensation for the accumulative hours i have spent due to delay. staff shortages is not a viable excuse when paying over and above premium prices for rail. At the risk of being controversial, Southern seem to be one of the better companies. I travel regularly from Brighton to Victoria (often leaving in rush hour but back at off-peak times). Best aspects are the generally clean, air-conditioned trains with plenty of table space, and the helpful & friendly train staff; worst aspect is obviously reliability of service, which I guess is dependant on Railtrack/other companies & random stuff. “I can't stand the company anymore”

I don't know for how this franchise is running for but I can't stand the company anymore. They seen to always fail when they should not: the morning commute is always delayed. Try to find the most original excuse you think they would come with they probably already used it. And the evening commute is more like a joke. Every single day, one or both of my rush hour journeys is/are delayed. Every day! Trying to look at timetables to plan connections then becomes useless! For the amount it costs, the service should be decent. I have actually resorted to delaying my homeward journey and/or taking buses. Beats standing on the concourse for ages waiting for info that might never come. I've recently moved to Sydenham and Southern makes my daily commute a misery. I would like to see someone from Southern respond here to the level of dissatisfaction. Presumably they use another transort method to journey to work and are immune to the daily sinking feeling of another automated announcement "southern are sorry to announce.." Blah blah. “Worst train operator ever”

Southern are beyond disappointing every day. They are a joke! Everyday I travel there are always delays. Overcrowding, dirty trains, staff shortages, Cancellations due to some excuse. Why can't we have a choice of operator or have it State owned again. I would not recommend this company to anyone. A lot of people get stressed from working in London. “Can it get any worse?? Probably”

I cannot remember the last time I got on a train that was on time at East Croydon. They have to be running out of excuses as to the reasons why the trains are cancelled/delayed. For example Only last week we were told on the train - "Sorry for the delay to this service, this is due to a delay" SERIOUSLY!. Station staff send you from one platform to another only for the train to arrive at the original platform you were on. When on them they are damp, cold, dirty. “TRAIN IS ALWAYS LATE”

My Train which runs from Caterham to victoria is always late. They changed to their winter time-table back in december (2013) & since then it is on average 10-15 minutes late EVERY DAY. I got in touch with one of the managers & he started to string me the line: Compared with the total train system blah blah blah. “Total rubbish”

Southern trains have never been a great train operator but the last few months have got even worse.Every day either going to work or coming home or both the trains have been late.Even sat on train at clapham junction for 25mins before being told waiting for a driver.The staff at victoria need communication and charm school classes,and i pay £1700 a year for this pleasure,i really wish i had an alternative and look forward to the day there contract is up and a decent company takeover… Read Full Review

“Always late”

Why are these trains always late! I am on the tattenham corner line and it's consistently delayed. They say apply for delay repay but it takes 3 months to actually receive anything and you have to consistently chase them. Takes 21 days for them to reply to emails. A regular delay is no driver and staff shortages! In any other company this service would not be tolerated by customers… Read Full Review
