“Worst public transport company EVER ”

Your train service is the most unreliable public transport! I get a train daily from Barry to Cardiff bay even though I have now had to get a new job because your lack of timekeeping got me sacked! You're trains are hardly ever on time so you have to get the train before the one you actually need all because you find it so hard to keep to a schedule and then you occasionally get that train that is so late it's cancelled and when you're stood at the train station absolutely freezing the train… Read Full Review

“Never on time ”

I'm writing on behalf of my Father. The trains from lisvane / thonhill to Cardiff bay and vise versa are frequently late. I'm countless occasions he has been over an hour late for work in the morning. Returning home he is often very late making him late for his second job, not mentioning how much money he has lost. “RUDE ”

Got onto the train from treforest to pontypridd, card was not working in the ticket machine so jumped on the train expecting the train guard to come around he went straight back into his cabin. got off in pontypridd queuing to pay for my ticket when a man came behind me, refused to let me pay for my ticket Evan though i was in a paying que he was trying to make out as if i was train jumping. “Shambolic service”

Boarded an arriva train yesterday from Conway food festival, apart from the train being 8 minutes late the station was heaving,when the train finally arrived there was only 2 carriages and at least 200 people got on the train, it was heaving you could'nt move everyone was shoulder to shoulder, it was uncomfortable, and actually quite frightening, God only knows what would have happened if there had been an accident, what is wrong with arriva they know how busy these fairs are, and I agree with… Read Full Review

“Paying the price of two for one ”

Me and a friend used this service to travel from Chester to Crewe, the first treain we needed to catch to travel back to Wolverhampton. We planned our visit in advance and so booked our train tickets online with trainlines.com and found we had to book a particular train time. With all train companies, buying in advance means you have to stick to the times stated on the ticket. It rarely cheaper to buy advanced singles for short journeys under 30 miles. Avoid the train-line as they charge a booking fee in fact avoid buying online at all as they steer you to restrictive advance tickets. Buy your tickets the old fashioned way on the day at the ticket office. Just turn up and go buy on off-peak return then if you miss your train or you plans change just catch the next one.

“Absolutely terrible!”

I have used Arrive Trains Wales services many times over the last couple of months and I have to say I am shamefully disappointed. Every train I have boarded has been disgustingly dirty and every train is extremely out dated. Although some conductors are very polite and professional, the majority treat there job like a joke, they are slow, miserable and take no pride in there work. “Chester Race days”

We are frequent travellers on this service, going to Manchester for concerts. On quite a few occasions this has clashed with Chester race days. May I suggest that on these occasions that you put an extra carriage on as the train becomes dangerously overcrowded, with the result that several racegoers further along the track could not get on. They routinely rip people off, have incredibly unfriendly customer service and you are lucky if a train even shows up. The trains themselves are relics and are incredibly uncomfortable. “Try my patience daily”

I've read a lot of the negative reviews on ATW and can relate to pretty well all of them. Unfortunately I'm a season ticket holder, so at present have little choice but to put up with the shoddy service. I commute from Llantwit Major to Cogan daily, and in the last year I don't think I've ever caught a train from Cogan back to Llantwit that's been on time. Journey pre booked in Jan16, Train cancelled 9 mins before arrival, so unable to travel, missed important appointment. Submitted claim for a refund. Despite 5 phone calls and numerous emails, 6 months later I am still waiting for a refund and compensation for my time chasing the refund. Waiting to buy a train ticket at the unpaid tickets office at Cardiff central train station, as there was no conductor available on the train. Ignored by the male employee in the office, despite being stood in front of him. I cant find words to describe how shockingly bad this company is, the rhondda lines are ALWAYS late or delayed, in the last 5-6 years I can't remember a single time the trains were actually on time, if the price of tickets was cheap then I would understand. If you're going to Cardiff be prepared to queue, very rarely the conductor comes around for tickets, and with the unavailability of buying tickets at a station you're going to have to queue at Cardiff to buy a ticket. “What an Absoulte Joke Of a Company ”

Totally and utterly unbelievable that this company is still allowed to operate, and be funded via large sums of public money. Seriously this company don't give a monkeys about the actual travelling public, a total embarrassment to say they are my local TOC.
