Bad Points: I felt the work looked amateur. See comment below. Not enough variety of shots. Seemingly bad pictures which we feel should have been taken over. Lots of pictures of inanimate objects (i.e. water bottles, dirty wine glasses, hotel room toiletries, the make up artist's dirty make up mess.) I think he was trying to be artsy but forgot the venue in which he was taking photographs. Some photos peoples head and shoulders were cut off. Photos were not all centered. Some artsy photos of just peoples bodies like the brides' with no head attached. Too many photos of the bride and groom walking away from the camera. Lots of the same shot just cropped differently. It was devastating for us to have our memories, in our opinion, so poorly captured. We have photos from our guests which we thought were way better than this photographers' and that is what we ended up making a wedding album out of.

General comments: Although, as a person, the photographer from Michael Jones Photography seemed to be nice guy, we were very disappointed in the quality of his work. His web site does not appear to reflect the kind of work he does either. We found that there were an excessive number of shots of inanimate objects, i.e. dirty wine glasses, water bottles, someone's scrunchy for their hair, my make up artist's make up mess, soaps and toiletries in my hotel room. All of our guest shots look to have been taken from the balcony which gave views of the tops of everyone's heads which was very disappointing for us. There is one shot of the mother of the bride with the bride and it was not a good picture in my opinion. It seems to me with a digital camera he would have been able to preview that and do a retake or more than one shot. There were many shots of my back side, just my body no head, heads were cut off, (i.e. my husbands). People were not centered in photos my dad's shoulder was cut off in one shot. There were hardly any pictures of guests. Not enough candid shots at the reception and not enough of the traditional family shots. There seemed to be a lot of unflattering shots of the bride, groom and guests which I feel should have been retaken given he had a digital camera and could preview it. One example is when the groom and I were standing at our buffet. I think that should have been a retake. Also many shots seemed to be the same exact shots only made to look closer up or farther away which greatly reduced the variety of photos we could select from. We were given about 400 proofs in which we were to pick 200 proofs with our package. We had a difficult time coming up with 200. Unfortunately a wedding day is a one time event and there is no opportunity for retakes. Our memories were not captured to our satisfaction which for us was more than disappointing. I would not recommend Michael Jones Photography and would recommend people do extensive research as to who they select and spend the money for good pictures.
