“Unclear cancellation policy”

This is the most corrupt organization I've ever seen. I used to use this site for all my reservations. not any more. I booked a hotel last night and it says they need my CC to hold the room JUST to hold it and free cancellation. but as soon as I put my CC, it says, @109.00 charge if I Cancele the reservation. I've always been very happy booking through Booking.Com & this review is aimed more at The St Brelade Bay Hotel, Jersey. Placed a reservation on Bookings.com for CountryInn and Suites in Asheville NC. Have Never reserved a hotel with a non-cancelation policy and with a 95% cancelation fee. Country Inn and Suites sent me an email and canceled one night and did not charge me a cancelation fee, then today I get a call from Germany with Bookings that has changed the hotels fees. “Deception in advertising”

Booked a room in Cambria and the heading was "Best Value" (Book now only one room left) with the Booking.com price guarantee. After booking I went to the direct website of the Bed and Breakfast and found out their everyday price for that same room was $20 a night less than advertised on Booking.com (for same nights). I have gotten the run around with customer service in regards to getting a partial refund for my room. I got to the hotel and it was terrible. The AC leaked water all over the bed. The tv was cracked and the hotel staff informed me that I needed to call booking.com for a refund. I call them to get my refund and they informed me that they needed to talk to the hotel. Made reservation thru bookings.com. Arrived at hotel and presented the bookings.com paperwork. I made a mistake and booked myself to arrive the next week. The Quality hotel was able to take care of me and understood my error. Upon return home contacted bookings.com online. Their reply was tough turkey! I had a 'non-refundable' reservation. It will charge you about twice the price of what it's worth. It was a reservation for a last minute trip, but I could have gotten a way better hotel with spas and breakfast for half its price. I booked 1 room online (I thought) but when the web site asked me for names, I put in both my name and my husband's name. They booked 2 rooms, charged my credit card immediately, and made them both non-cancellable. After a number of calls (4) they were able to get the hotel to cancel one room without a penalty. I Booked 2 rooms at a hotel in Nashville through booking.com and when I arrived at the hotel I was told they only had 1 room. I found this ridiculous considering I had a confirmation number and the charge to my account showing I had booked the 2 rooms. They only had one room available so I was told I would have to find another room at a hotel down the street and was not going to get reimbursed if I canceled the other room. My wife and I along with our 2 children booked flight and hotel using easy jet site for 3 nights.After booking the flights diverted to Booking.com and put in my stay info. I've booked with booking.com lots of times but won't again. I booked a hotel with them yesterday, short notice so non refundable but it still said on the site 'Don't worry - if you find it cheaper later, we'll refund the difference' An hour later, looking at trip adviser for reviews, I found exactly the same deal for around £50 less. Made a booking back in January which clearly stated No Deposit. 2 weeks later I received an email from the villa company stating they would be taking a 50% deposit 30 days prior to my visit. I contacted booking.com who assured me it was all sorted out and no deposit would be taken, To my surprise £780 has been debited from my account by the villa company. Thought this process would be simple. The prices changed multiple times and they continually got the number of people staying in the room wrong. When asking questions we would get referred to call the hotel and when contacting the hotel they would say we had to talk to booking.com to start this awful process all over again.
