“Love my corner fridge but...”

★★★☆☆

written by Jaxsonq360 on 25/08/2020

I'm on my second corner fridge. The first was nothing but trouble, but, assured by their change of manufacturer, I bought another when I moved. This one has been great, no problems for 6 years now. But the fridge light recently started staying on permanently. The magnetic switch has failed. After a couple of futile calls and a chase the Corner Fridge engineer admitted that they could not supply replacement part as the design has changed. He suggested we go to B&Q and see if they have an external light that we could adapt!!! Really? I spent over £3k (plus the previous one) and you say bye-bye, go to B&Q! What appalling customer service. I will persevere with my corner fridge because it is brilliant in all other aspects, but will I buy another? Will I recommend it? I most certainly won't!

“next best thing to a chocolate fireguard”

★☆☆☆☆

written by yorkshire62 on 01/10/2017

corner fridge bought in 2003/4 cant remember exactly all i can do is reiterate the faults already pointed out., extremely power hungry, very badly designed actual fridge unit as assessed by an independent refrigeration engineer. Luckily Ive learnt how to service it myself as every year it needs the unit removing and thoroughly cleaning as the inside of the compressor assembly foam insulation and fan units get covered in mould and over the last few years the foam has required replacing as it started to crumble and get blown into the actual fridge. Food safety wise due to the above it must be an FSA inspectors dream there must be so much bacteria being blown around its a wonder we,re still alive! Theres more rust on the shelves than your average north sea trawler. a disgrace, they should have been stainless for the price We also ordered the stainless steel option for the door and some w-anchor in their wisdom decided itd be a good idea to clad 15mm MDF in 1mm stainless then hang all the resulting 25kg on the fridge resulting in both hinges needing to be replaced after 2 years ,so for the last decade or so weve had the delightful white ali cladding adorning our kitchen (havent got round to sorting the stainless yet!!) All in all the most expensive white (sorry rust coloured) elephant we had the misfortune to buy AVOID AT ALL COSTS

“Shocking Reliability - Shocking Repair Costs - Zero...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JR_Aberdeen on 30/09/2016

After seven years, the evaporator failed. One year later, the compressor failed. Repair costs so far over £1500. Even finding a local repair company who will touch this product is tough and it then takes ages to fix, leaving you with no fridge for an extensive period. Repeated emails to the company and attempted contact via their website solicited no response at all. Never again. A true white elephant. Such a shame as the concept is great.

Hi,

I take you're in Aberdeen, any chance you can let me know who you used to fix it as we have a corner fridge as well and are live just outside Aberdeen?

Regards,

Johan

“This is a very expensive fridge yet the shelves rusted ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gilbertk173 on 17/09/2016

within a very short period. The next problem was the all the food froze and when I contacted the Company they did not want to know or help when they discovered that the 2 year warranty had expired! I would have been much better off with a fridge a quarter of the price!

Please do think about buying this product. Company are rude unhelpful. Fridge is loud very costly to run and expensive to repair. Shelves are all rusty and welding on joins has rusted through so shelves are not safe to take any weight and apparently its the way I clean it!!! Soapy water what a load of ...... bad workmanship cheap products comes to mind.

“Awful, bad terrible ”

written by Leavealoneplease12345683 on 30/09/2015

What an absolute waste of money had mine 6 years and it's been nothing but trouble. The company are so so so rude and unhelpful which seems to be a common issue if you read the reviews on here. Mine has been rusting for some time now in fact the welds are so bad now some shelfs are not safe to put weight on. It constantly breaks down costs a fortune to repair. It makes such a racket it sounds like you are standing at silverstone and Lewis Hamilton is driving by in first gear doing 200mph. Thankfully mine is being taken out next week for a new fridge. I can wait to see it being thrown in the skip I will be sad that's it's £3000 down the toilet but happy it's finally gone infact I'll toast it's departure with a glass of wine. In summary if you like rust, rude customer service, and a fridge that breaks down more times than a vintage skodait's the fridge for you.

“Amazing Fridge”

★★★★★

written by smike3556 on 05/09/2015

Why didn't I buy a fridge like this years ago? Fantastic value for money, the fridge is good quality, spacious and has transformed the way I shop. Because it is so spacious I can chill drinks, Christmas was not the usual panic with where to put all the different cheeses and creams, not to mention the turkey, and it is easy on the eye as well. An excellent product and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody.

“Just awful”

written by Awful_avoid_rusty on 22/07/2015

What an awful awful product, please avoid at all costs I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased mine. Ive had my fried 4 years now and it has been nothing but trouble, constantly going wrong and covered in rust and I mean covered. The company are very very very rude and unpleasant to deal with and have blamed me for the rusty shelves because of what I clean them with (which again is a common problem on here)I clean them with soapy water then dry. Please please please do not buy from them you will regret it and lets face it, it will be an expensive mistake. thankfully mine is being removed tomorrow I just cannot deal with the worry of it breaking down again. I feel like dumping it outside the companies head office. AGAIN AVOID AVOID AVOID

“Helpful and friendly service!”

★★★★☆

written by QuintinDonnelly on 22/10/2014

Having just read all of the reviews on this website I was apprehensive about calling the Corner Fridge Company regarding the fridge we acquired following the move to our new home. However, having just come off of the phone to them I found the lady that I spoke very helpful, knowledgable about the product and she also gave me some good tips about maintaining the fridge without having to spend a fortune by buying products that can be bought on the high street. Whilst the fridge would be expensive to replace (and great for the Corner Fridge Company if I had to do so), there was absolutely no hard sale or push for me to even think about doing so during the call, just good advice about keeping the current unit running.

“Rust Bucket”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Zimmerman1953 on 02/09/2014

This is the worst appliance that I have ever brought, after sales service is rubbish, very rude and most unhelpful. My Corner Fridge has more rust than the Titanic and as it seems everyboby is told it is the way you clean it not that it is a fault with the fridge which it is obviously is as I have never encountered rust in a fridge before and asking around family, friends and work colleagues they have haven't either and are amazed that a product costing the amount of money it did should rust to the extent it has. The company do not want to know just stated that it is not been cleaned correctly I have never used any abrasive products to clean just soapy water and dried afterwards. Keep away from this product and dont deal with this company I have never dealt with such rude people.

“farse for fridge”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Abel221 on 13/08/2014

The corner fridge was fitted when we purchased the house. This must be the worst product on the market. In the 3 years we have had to endure this appliance it has cost a fortune to repair and keep running. it breaks down every 4-6 months at an average cost of £350 per repair. If the kitchen wasn't designed round it I would of removed it along time ago. You must shop about for a good repair company that understands the poor quality product. my advise is save your money and find a different product.

“Worst decision we made when planning our kitchen”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dumbles on 01/07/2014

We have had our fridge now for nine years and paid £3,000 for it. We reckon we have spent this amount again on repairs, parts are mega expensive and the fridge is expensive to run, We would not mind paying higher running costs if the fridge was reliable but it has let us down several times even heating up rather than cooling down! We are now heading for retirement and are looking at redesigning part of our kitchen so we can get rid of the fridge! Even now I need to keep a bowl in the fridge to catch the excess water that leaks from the unit - fed up paying for repairs so making do until will rip it out! My advice is don't buy a corner fridge - they also make a lot of noise!

“do not buy this priduct”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hale147 on 11/06/2014

I was drawn to the size which still is its best feature but a super big fridge is only useful if it works. We have had ours for five years now and had a constant stream of repairs . The original Corner Fridge Company were never helpful in offering any after care and the local agent is pricey and inconsistent with their diagnostic skills always telling us the problem us different from the last. We are in yet another breakdown cycle. Sadly our kitchen is designed around this corner unit so it's hard to find a solution easily. My advice would be to look elsewhere and avoid this company and their loud overpriced unreliable fridges and their dreadful aftercare. If and when the go out of business as they deserve I will have an even more tricky problem to deal with.

“sagging door, very noisy, rusting shelves”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/04/2014

It's a great fridge because of its size. However... It's costly to buy. The door has sagged twice. The company were NOT interested at all. The motor is very noisy. You need to keep it in a utility room with the washing machine. The galvanised shelves are rusting. When I phoned to let the company know what was wrong, the manager just put the phone down on me. Honestly, it is a nightmare!

“Cost of repair”

★★☆☆☆

written by AbbyPowers333 on 06/03/2014

The fridge is great as long as nothing goes wrong with it. The cost of repair is huge and as no one seems quite sure what the problem is they go for safe costly repair. The call out charges alone are extremely high before they start on repair. If I had my time over again I am not sure that I would purchase one. £4000 is a lot of money to pay for a fridge and then to have to pay huge repairs costs within the first 3 - 4 years of ownership is not acceptable.

“Utter rubbish”

written by Dontusethisfridge on 22/02/2014

Horrible company to deal with, very very rude & unwilling to help. Now the product. Rust rust rust and more rust. Apparently when I complained 'I am cleaning the wrong' I hardly think hot soapy water is damagining them. I see many people on here are having same problems. Noisy it's like living next to an airport I am sure it's going to take off one of these days intact I wish it would its been a very expensive mistake Expensive to run. Costs me around £4-500 a year to run And finally awful rude company. Avoid this product at all costs

“Terrible service from The Corner Fridge Company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/11/2013

My corner fridge keeps breaking down. Freezing lettuce and freezing up completely. If you ring TCFC they simply deny that there is anything wrong. Yes I have ordered and replaced the filter. They have told me to order a door hinge saying that it has probably dropped, £50 for a hinge! £25 for a filter. They actually told me that not much can go wrong. If you try to speak to a technical person they avoid speaking and dont call you back. I am now considering having it removed and installing a Miele one as all other appliances are miele which are marvellous, however this is a corner fridge therefore difficult to get another fridge to slot in at an angle. I have other appliances built in alongside this fridge which means other appliances will have to be removed and reinstalled. Nightmare. The companies customer service really lets them down. Word of mouth and bad reviews kills a company. Corner Fridge Company, do the right thing fix the problems.

Hi my corner fridge was installed in 2007 and an on going intermittent fault is the unit freezes. The digital display shows temperatures of as low as -6degrees We were sent a self adhesive plastic strip which we have, as instructed stuck to the top the door in order that the switch is activated when the door is closed. The switch operates the light but must have a dual function ?? We were advised to take the door off and and place washer/s at the point where the door pivots - to raise the door in order that the switch is activated - but alas the fault continues to occur??? Any suggestions ?
