“I transferred money for rent payment in the UK but it...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bashantagaire on 29/02/2024

I transferred money for rent payment in the UK but it never reached there. I lost 500 pound. Once TransferMate receives money, it goes on their pocket. I complained about it to them, at first, they asked for proof of transaction, I gave them the bank letter, but after six months they replied to me to recall the transaction. Can sender bank recall the money that already went into your pocket? This is a money transfer company that works primarily for shammers and never gives justifiable answers to their customers.

“I had to pay rental fee in UK and I transferred money...”

written by Basanta92110 on 29/02/2024

I had to pay rental fee in UK and I transferred money from Norway using transfermate system. The recipient in UK did not get the money but sender bank confirmed that it was successfully transferred. Transfermate however did neither gave evidence that money was not transferred not paid.

“Not for the poor people anymore”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kirkpatrick449 on 28/12/2022

I used to send money from/to here (total of 60KCAD). But since 2 years now, my account has been disabled, because now it's for people who send at least 100K (they say they aim for the business side now)... But they still have my address and banks data. to bad it was a good service.

“TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AdriV on 28/06/2022

I usted Transfermate to get my money transferred to a frozen account in Germany. I was asking for a visa permit. For personal reason I withdrew my visa and ask for my money back. At the end of the day Tranfermate got my refund but subtracted 500 USD from my total amount (7% less money than my original amount). I issued a complain and the answer to me was just "It's the exchange rate", which they did not provide any evidence whatsoever since even with the highest change rate the loss would have definitely not been 500 USD. They sell themselves as great with exchange rates... having done it with my bank would have been less expensive (I would have lost less money) and less frustrating.

“Worse service I've got in years!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sweeneyhu389 on 03/12/2020

First time I have such a bad experience with a company! I had a terrible time trying to contact someone from the team to help me with a problem setting up my account. Nobody even returned my messages. Finally was able to talk to someone, they've told me I couldn't access their services telling me as per their T&C they reserve the right to refuse to negotiate an Order without giving any reason. No further explanation. This is a real waste of time, seriously!

“Very disappointing service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rajeshpawar on 02/01/2020

The platform itself is not easy to navigate and use. Customer support is helpful at first to set up the account. It has been 5 days and still waiting for credit in Beneficiary's account. I will not recommend nor use this service again.

“Quoted rate not as published!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Andrew1888 on 11/09/2019

Asked for a lot of information and took days to complete because they continued to want more and more information from me. When I finally was talking to someone to transfer money, the actual exchange rate was £100's of pounds less than the rate advertised on the website. Took my business elsewhere and cancelled my account.

I was trying to save bank commission to send money to my supplier by using those guys, I wasted time and efforts which made me regret this trial, I am having a very bad experience for more than 10 days now since I am trying to send the payment to my supplier and payment still pending.

“Avoid at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LWard on 28/05/2019

This company makes ridiculous rules up to keep hold of your funds as long as possible. Arranged for a payment to be made for only 1200 pounds to be told that they needed to see an Invoice for proof of the funds I was sending. Big Brother has nothing on them ..... Beware they only want to hold on to your money for as long as possible without paying it on.

“Extremely old fashioned experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by xmNapier110 on 30/11/2018

While transfermate may get the job done eventually, my experience using the platform has been less than satisfactory. there are multiple hurdles to jump through just to get your account set up. If you are looking to make a transfer quickly. do not rely on this dated service. The experience infuriating.

“Not worth spending your time creating an account ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Abingeorg on 07/11/2018

I was using transferwise for a longtime then, an add catched my attention of transfermate giving better exchange rates, I verified it with their live exchange rates before signing in; which was in-fact higher than transferwise. I decided to go through their complex sign up procedure, sent scanned copies of all documents and IDs. Each time I give one, they ask for another ! Eventually in 2-3 weeks PAINFULL PROCESS I was awarded ‘an account’, all those pain for better rates advertised in the front page. Disappointingly, when logging in the RATES ADVERTISED ISN’T REAL accompanied by HUGE TRANSACTION CHARGES .. (transferwise has better exchange rates and lesser transaction charge) Today 7th November, sending £1000 to India is £30+ cheaper in transferwise than with transfermate. So I am leaving transfermate and going back. Why 1 star ? 1. Doesn’t deserve any mercy!! 2. Painfully complex sign up process 3. Not very user friendly once you sign in. NB: I don’t work for transferwise, it is just my observation. I am still searching for a service who provides better rates than them.

written by SemajGoodman on 11/10/2018

I had a really good experience 3 years ago but unfortunately there are no longer as good as they were !!! I sent them my money from France already 1week ago and still nothing in my account in New Zealand. They tell me you will receive your money on Tuesday and 3 days later they don’t even call me when I ask them why they don’t send me the money like agreed over the phone. So really don’t do anything with them it’s a rober company I really don’t recommend them

“Unimpressed!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nanowar on 28/09/2018

Was quickly signed up and confirmed. Incredible customer service during that portion. Then, I tried to send money to our teenager travelling alone and with depleting funds in Australia. I was told that he would receive funds either that day or the next. So, I set up a transfer to him, which I know now was done properly. Then, under TransferMate instruction, I set up a transfer to their Canadian associate bank. I was concerned that I hadn't done it properly, the next day, when my son reported that he did not receive the money. So, I contacted TransferMate by phone and live chat to determine if I had done the process properly. In both cases, I was told it was done properly. 7 days later still no money withdrawn from my account or deported in my sons account. The short conclusion is that none of the employees ever told me how to properly send them money so they could send it to my son. It was incredibly frustrating as he went without cash for so long that he eventually had to get a job to stay afloat. All of this could have been avoided with a simple description of how to complete the process. I'm now deleting my account and going to a company that does a better job of communicating with its clients.

“2 months ago, they do not know where my money is”

★☆☆☆☆

written by UserSpain on 17/04/2018

We sent two transfers through Transfermate services on the 1st of february (from Spain to Ecuador). The first one arrived on the 23rd of february. The second one never arrived. We have been wasting our time with lot of talks, e-mails... and they cannot explain to us where our money is. Finally they told us that the only solution was to apply for a recall. We are still waiting for our money. This is a big amount of money and this is a disaster for our company because we had to pay our supplier 2 months ago. And the merchandise is not going to arrive on time. Anyone can give us an answer about that. That is absolutely unacceptable.

“Not transparent”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 12/02/2018

As a first time "recipient" of funds, received an email notifying us of our client having transferred funds. However, nowhere in this email is a link/option to click to see transaction details, as you would if you get a wire transfer for example. Only "link(s)" provided lead you to a live chat which was unfruitful. Not user friendly, requested that our client revert the transaction and wire the funds instead.

“Do NOT use if you don't have a FULL licence/valid passport”

★☆☆☆☆

written by e111 on 08/01/2017

There was an error during the application process, which resulted in 2 different accounts being created, contacted them, they said it's fine but needed my ID to validate the account, sent them my current account bank statement and my student loan letter and my provisional driving licence, was told that it had to be either a valid passport or a full driving licence, therefore the account is still inactive, what's wrong with a provisional driving licence and more importantly, what's wrong with these financial institutions, it seems to me that most of them are able to verify my identity electronically using equifax or experian, and some like this one and ICE exchange could not do that, why? ICE even said that we cannot even accept a passport and wanted me on the electoral roll, lol, but most of the other 14 financial institutes that I have account with, didn't even bother to ask me anything and could verify my ID electronically. and the ones who couldn't, accepted my provisional driving licence/my passport when it was valid. Overall, the rates seem unbeatable but I couldn't use them, so told them that I will contact them when I get my ID sorted, but will probably never contact them again, because I don't usually like the idea of going back to where I was refused once, so stick with transferwise (and it is much faster to register) if you are in the same shoes, or maybe caxton, I've been with caxton for a very long time and transferred money so many times and never had even a smidgin of problem.
