This box started out with promise.Unfortunately,the short-comings soon started to materialise.Wont record Family Guy without skipping forward.Humax say they are aware of the problem and are looking into it.That was two years ago and now their customer servicesdont want to know.The latest fault is in the recorded list of programs.If you record two episodes of the same program ,one after the other,and press the i button,you get the same program description for both episodes.Avoid at all costs (read more)

No problems so far with my PVR9300T. All functions are very easy to use with from the on screen menu (which is more than can be said for the Panasonic DVR it replaced). Ability to record 2 channels and watch a third is great but no doubt quite standard. Play back feature for current channel useful for those missed bits! Have no complaints, a refreshingly simple device with great utility. Definitely recommend. (read more)

Had the Humax PVR9300T for some time now, when i first had it like some of the comments i see on here it did lock up time to time, but since the firmware update the PVR if ok, not locked up for a long time now.
If a recording a series and you do a channel update then it will lose the settings for what you want to record so will have to put them all in again other than that its a good PVR.
Also the function of looking for films only, or sports ect and to type a name of a show for the PVR to...

My mother-in-law bought this just before Christmas and we set it up on Boxing Day. The set up was incredibly easy - plug it in and off it went. Picture quality was very good and no problems with reception. Problems began when we tried to set up scheduled recording. It's not a very user friendly machine. There are several hoops to leap through to achieve something and the manual is also very complicated. The programme guide does not extend further than seven days, which could be problematic... i had a sagem before - never any problems with it - till it stopped working after 3 years. All of these units can give problems but sagem is best.

We bought the Humax PVR9300T to replace our Thomson PVR which was no longer supported and so far have been disappointed in comparison to our old box which was over 5 years old and our sons Top Up TV PVR.
The box itself was easy to set up and the picture and sound quality are good. Its also easy enough to record programs and series but no more so than any other PVR I have used. There's also a PIP feature which is very handy although:

Humax 500g Hd freesat PVR recorder, £299.99 at Curry's... Bought this at Curry's for Christmas, was told it was the best of the best and a brand new innovative model which would recod all freeway and terrestrial channels including all free HD channels also. I bought the 9300T about two years ago. For periods of time it works really well. Then it seems to go through periods where it freezes. As a result it is unreliable for recording. When it freezes all I can do is unplug it and then the television guide takes ages to reload. If it wasn't for these problems and the fact that it can only be programmed 8 days ahead it would be a good machine. (read more)

The Humax PVR9300 was a very generous present from my brother last Christmas and for the first 9 months there's not really been too many problems and the features are great.However, for the past couple of months the box has kept freezing - sometimes upto 4 times in 1 hour. It started missing recording programmes on a series link which was incredibly frustrating. Then it recorded a programme 3 timers simultaneously then the next programme overwrote that one and recorded 6 times... (read more)

We are overall very please with our Humax PVR9300T 320GB digital box. It does do what is says on the tin and is incredibly useful especially the series link feature. Our main complaint is it only has an 8 day timer which is insufficient when going on holiday. We would like to see the timer capacity increased to 14 days. to date apart from a couple of minor problems it has been hassle free. (read more)

After months of signal strength problems with Sky I bought this from Argos and I have been thrilled with it. I can actually watch and record programmes - something I have had difficulty doing with my Sky HD box!!!. It was also really easy to install using the existing cables from Sky.
It took an hour or two to get used to the remote but now I find my way around with ease.
I hope I won't have the problems others seem to have experienced but so far so good and I have finally been able to...

We have had this machine since May 2009. Initially it was pretty good, though the screen designs and layout of the control pad are not particularly user friendly. Since around the time of the digital changeover here the machine has been totally unreliable. We regularly switch the whole thing off and back on again after a wait, but this doesn't have any lasting effect.
The two things that are giving problems are:

I've had this for 2 years now, longer than any of our previous set top boxes which seemed to only last about 6 months before the channels started freezing or not loading. We live in Oxfordshire and have been on a tempory transmitter for over a year now and still manage to get most of the channels despite the weak signal in our area. I am not the greatest with technology of any sort but this Humax PVR9300T 320GB is easy-peasy to operate and I was familiar with all its controls and uses within an hour or two. Using it day in, day out is a doddle - the picture quality from my old Hitachi television is good, the sound is fine and althouth the electronic programme guide isn't the quickest to load I've never had a problem with the time it takes - some days slower than others.
I do have a gripe with the series link recording...

Bought Humax PVR 9300T 320GB nearly two years ago. Unlike other reviewers, have had no problems either before or after digital switchover. Latest software updates have largely solved slow loading of TV guide. Picture quality is great, sound very good. Am just upgrading to HD version, and selling my current model to friend. Can thoroughly recommend this Humax product. (read more)

I did not realise that this product (Humax PVR-9300T)had been in production so long.
Anyway, they have cured the noisy fan problem that many of the reviews refer to.
I have rung their helpline twice and have been quite impressed by the quick connection and the advice given.
To me, the product has one major fault. When you look at the list of recorded programmes you do not get a brief description when you settle on them. You have to actually start playing the selection before you can tell...

Bought mine 2 years ago, and it was wonderful. Last autumn the reception started to deteriorate, with images and sound breaking up. I rang Humax and they were friendly and helpful - replaced the unit without question. The new one worked wonderfully at first, then started to wind down again. And so on. 3 weeks ago they announced an upgrade, and I had perfect pictures for a week, then deterioration again. I can now only get the BBC channels. It worked fine until mid-september when the digital switchover began in Wales,then the controls started freezing, programs did not always record, could not watch a recorded program whilst recording another and epg would take an eternity to load. Lots of features and nice picture quality, and massive capacity all good. However, keeps losing all the recording settings, freezes every so often, and now 1 month after the end of warranty the screen on the front has packed in. Also, you can never put it on standby as it loses all the schedule which takes ages to repopulate. Not good enough I'm afraid. (read more)

Sounds promising with all its features but is not much good. The Guide takes ages to load if at all so can't record anything on several channels. Humax hot line advised leaving it on BBC 1 the strongest signal and it would load in a few minutes - not much good if you want to quickly record something. Anyway hours later it had still not loaded. Next advice was to do an automatic install. Did this but still no better.
Only choice now is to return to John Lewis. Shame. Does anybody know...

I agree absolutely with the last reviewer. My 9200T worked reasonably well until the full digital switch-over this month (April). I had to manually tune to Mendip transmitter as it tuned to weak distant Stockland Hill transmitter by default - bit of a pain in itself. Now it regularly freezes up or takes ages to perform any action after pressing a button on the controller.
I'm now desperate for the firmware/software update that was mentioned as I now can't rely on this piece of kit. Save...

Ease of use: Excellent - very intuitive.

Value for money: Until full digital switchover - excellent, however, post digital switchover - fair.
I've had a PVR9200T for three years now and until recently I would have given it a 5-star rating and recommended it to everyone. Humax have now released a beta software update, to be provided as an over the air (OTA) update later, I assume after testing. This has fixed the slow response problems for my box. In this case, I fully recommend this Humax box. It is a shame that the fix could not have been be issued earlier, but impressive and good to know that Humax are still actively supporting mature products.

I originally bought a Humax PVR-9150T and found that compared to my old Digihome box the recordings on the Humax randomly started up to a minute late and cosequently missed the start of some programmes. After much discussion by email with Humax I was unable to solve the problem and returned the box to Argos and replaced it with the PVR-9300T think that the dearer model with the display would probably work better.

Bought the PVR 9300T online from Martin Dawes in October 2008, but Humax insisted that all two-year guarantee problems be directed to them. MD went bust, via a pre-pack, and no longer deal with my area. PVR froze from shortly after I bought it, and eventually was replaced by a refurb by Humax. Very good all round performance but one drawbackthat is if you put in two timers and are connected via thehdi cable the machine locks and you cant do anything ,we contacted humax and was told it was a software problem and they were aware of it but 5 months later they have not done an upgrade to rectify the prob. you can get around the fault by using a scart or unplugging the hdmi lead but both arnt a proper solution.

I bought a Humax PVR in early January and I'm very pleased with it so I bought another for my mum. However, the second one was faulty so the suppliers replaced it promptly, no problems (They collected it from my house) but the replacement was also faulty (same fault). The suppliers have agreed to take it back and refund me even though I've not got the original packaging. So, I would rate the first one 5 stars but the second and third ones no stars which averages out at 5 out of 15.

The unit would be great if it worked....but when you turn it on to program a recording the guide can take ten minutes or more to load. Then you have to do it manually. The guide on the TV works instantly so what is it with the Humax? (read more)

1st day of using, PVR9300T 320GB box froze and all reserved programs ready for recording were lost. This happened many times over the next few days. Took it back to John Lewis who said a software update was needed - this they did. The update was made available Nov. 2009 and stop any more freezing. One week later the box appeared to be turning itself off then back on immediately resulting in reserved programs being lost and screen ratio reverting back to 4:3. Returned it to John...

We have owned this equipment for 13 months. When we first used it we were very pleased. Then it started freezing, once a month, till now twice a day, recordings are incomplete and it will not allow us into the "installation" menu. There is supposed to be a 2 year warranty but when we returned the item to Tesco they didn't want to know and Humax will not acknowledge our e-mails. Please beware as we checked reviews at the time! Whilst I found the older boxes reliable the newer variety often crash and freeze which ultimately means you don't get your favourite programe recorded, very dissapointing Humax.
I have to say when I had taken the time to contact Humax with my concenrs they replied with a standard non personalised e-mail stating they were aware of the problem and to look out...

You'll see lots of reviews about how good these are - whic his true whilst they work. Unfortunately they seem to start giving up tyhe ghost after a while. Mine just drops ouit of chase play now randomly and has started only partially recording programmes. It's eally infuriating to get 45 mins through a movie and then realise that it's only reorded the first hour. Just deleted lots of recordings like this from my box. My Humax PVR9300T wouldn't work properly from the outset but I didn't return it the supplier, Amazon, because I first emailed Humax and was told that all would be put right when a download was sent over the air. Did the download work? No. Things are now worse. The remote won't work for 20 seconds after switching on the TV, even when the PVR has been left on, and it also periodically freezes for up to 5 seconds. Scheduled recordings are sometimes...

Bought the Humax PVR9300T from Martin Dawes (MD) in late 2008, but it kept freezing, so Humax eventually replaced it, albeit that my contract is with MD. The replacement froze almost every day, and continues to do so. Functionality of the Humax boxes is just about the best around. It's when you look at the little details that they just do that bit more than competitor prodeucts. Some of the features are occasionally a little buggy and there are a few rough edges which could be improved but nothing which mars the experience. So why the low overall rating? Simply, Humax have an issue on their DVRs with corruption of recordings and then odd behaviour (i.e. not recording) after a while. You'll find... (read more)

Informative. My Humax 9200T is four years old and seems to have developed a hard drive problem. I'm contemplating buying a new one but these negative experiences are causing me to think again.

For day to day use the Humax is perfect, it is stylish, well designed and won't look out of place in your living room. I use this machine everyday with no problems, however you must ensure it has at least 2cm of clearance from the surface it's sitting on as the cooling fan is on the bottom and it will overheat. Also, if you are planning to save movies or tv programmes (to PC or DVD disks) be prepared to search online for solutions as Humax have made it difficult for users to do this.

The Humax PVR9300T 320GB has a nice design and great 2 channel recorder. Large display of channel and time.
This unit attempts to upscale all freeview programs to HD or something approaching HD.
Needs to be kept cool.
I recommend this product highly and expect software to appear from Humax or the internet with regards to moving recorded programs to PC or DVD.

Nice looking very stylish black unit, Clear to understand Even though i had doubts with buying this because i heard about the noise from the fan, i went ahead and brought it. To my surprise there was no noise at all.... quietest freeview recorder i have had!
The remote control is a bit on the large side, but it has hidden buttons that is why! This humax 9300t is completely quiet, there is not noise from the fan at all... I cant really think of any bad points to be honest.
