Just got off the phone with the customer services and it striked me how polite and helpful they are! Also, I have known someone to have had their card stolen before while they were abroad and the company was very quick to resolve the issue, despite the inconvenience of being in another country. “disloyalty and profiteering from your sickness ”

If you become a low income earner and you Mortgage tied up with "Santander Mafia" the only way they offer to help you is by HIKING your mortgage rate three times "the highest in the land", despite honouring all your payments and commitments to them and having less than 15% the value of my property borrowed from them. they using AFFORDABILITY clause to crucify the venerable knowing he have no options. “Handling fraud issues”

If your bank account has been fraudulently used, Santander won't call you and just take the money off your account. Customer service doesn't want to know. When my partner was in Ireland he had a dinner in a restaurant and paid his dinner by debit card. To our dismay a amount of £1800.00 was taken off the account on top of the one dinner. I opened an account with York Federal Savings over 15 years ago. Through several acquisitions, I ended up with Santander. York Federal was a pleasure to do business. Santander has been difficult to deal with since day one. They've made promises they haven't kept, given me information that wasn't correct, and in my opinion, use less than honest lending and sales practices. well todays experience with this bank is absolutely rubbish i tried to order cheque books for my business and after speaking to three people and answering security questions they still refused reason for refusal i couldn't name the last person who put money in the account my sort code was void it was on my cheque how could it be wrong apparently the sort code has been changed but didn't inform me i will be closing the business bank account of whom i have been with for 14 years as they took… Read Full Review

“The Building Society trying to be a BANK!”

I have a 123 account, a credit card and a Business Account. My extended family has a further 9 accounts. Tried to conduct a business transaction today and despite being the only person at the counter, the operator refused to deal with my request. Was introduced to a very rude Service Manager therefore, enough nonsense has been had with this bank throughout the year. “regular saver”

Impossible to open a regular saver over the phone. Always waiting for an assistant. Try several days, no way to get through. The do not allow to apply online despite that you need online banking to open the account. They do allow you to apply online for other products though. This is my favourite bank. I get good interest on my current account up to £20k, and I get cashback on my direct debits and on my credit card - which more than pays for the monthly fees. “Credit Card”

I obtained a cashback card about a year ago and was disappointed with the credit limit and so have never used the card. Now that they are going to charge a monthly fee I tried to cancel the card. I had thrown away all of the details issued with the card and also thought that I had disposed of the card but found it after a search. “inept and not trustworthy”

I was involved an estate IRA that the bank had a problem resolving. The form my mother filled out was completed when she was in her 80's. There were three names on the form , my name was clearly in the form under the title of Primary beneficiary. The other two names on the form had two small check off boxes labeled primary and contingent. These boxes were not checked. “Online but can't set up payments online without mobile...”

Been with the Santander for a number of years now with no problems. However, we have now set up a joint online account and are having problems. You now have to have a mobile phone to set up payments etc (a text message is sent to your mobile during this process). Its supposed to be online banking not phone banking. Santander is a large bank so they have many clients and this is they way they treat you, if this bank doesn´t really need you. The looks of the employees apparently is more important then their competence, difficult questions - which are not that difficult are being treated as annoying.
