Beware of servicing charges (£250 for an 'Ideal' call out) and unreliability of Ideal Icos boilers. Had some trouble with ours. Wouldn't recommend them as a reliable or cost effective boiler.

I have a Ideal icos system HE15 which was fitted about two and a half years
ago the circuit board has just gone and they are putting in orange colour ones now!! They said they are not having trouble with the old ones but my
heating engineer says this is the 9th one he has replaced this year (cost £175) plus labour and would you believe out of guarantee not happy!!!

I also have an Ideal ICOS HE15 fitted which is 4 years old and have had to have a new PCD board fitted for the second time. The first board was replaced within the first year guarantee period. My last gas bill was huge because the boiler was not working correctly.

I have had similar problems with the PCB (primary control board) on my Icos HE15 - a hefting great chunk of circutory that has broken twice now with explanation (its not even a wearing part). Ideal say this is not a known problem. If your buying a new home ask the builders nicely to put a wood burning stove in you will be better off!!

I've had a Ideal Icos HE15 boiler fitted in a house less than 4 years old. I am currently waiting to have the PCD board ( £180) replaced for the secomd time. I think there has been some kind of modification to the PCB board but Ideal say it is basically no different and have denied that there is a serious problem with these boards. As the first board melted I think this is a dangerous fault. Needless to say, I don't recommend it.
