I watched this movie yesterday. I had been waiting to watch it for ages, and was really looking forward to it after hearing such great reviews. I do really like superhero movies, and pressed play on the DVD player with an open mind.
The film struck me as quite a dark movie - but then again, it's meant to be just that. There is however lots of talking, and the plot dragged a little for me. The action scenes when they did come about were pretty good.
The story is long. I did like the fact that the movie took its time to identify each character and you felt really attached to each person, on an emotional level.
As I write this review, I'm now thinking it's probably one of those "watch again" type of movies. The question is... can I put myself through the 2.5hrs again?

Watchmen is an awesome film, I had not actually read the original comic until a few months before the film came out and was impressed by it (I have read other stories by Allen Moore and liked them). The film was a fair to good rendering of the comic, not scene for scene like Sin City but good non-the-less.
The acting was good, the effects were excellent and the story (as is usualy for Allen moore) was different, not the usual run of the mill superhero stuff. The characters felt more like re ...- Read ryoden's review (164 words)

As an avid Alan Moore fan who ' s read all of his greats, such as From Hell and V for Vendetta and seen their average at best transitions from comic to screen, i was a little dubious as to how good Watchmen would actually be. I was more than happily surprised by Zach Snyder ' s (famous for other comic epics 300 and Sin City) realisation as it stays pretty true to the style of the infamous comic, albeit with a few cinematic changes and the odd story point glossed over, but it really does pack a p ...- Read wikidzmon's review (232 words)

Watchmen was Slow, Slow, Slow, with plotless sex and nudity but the visual effects & filming was great.
three hours for a 90 min plot..- Read Guest's review (23 words)

Watchmen just felt far too forced for a movie that was almost 3 hours long. The dialogue was draining and the visual affects, though at many points were very cool, was about the only redeeming quality for the film and they weren't THAT good...- Read Guest's review (43 words)

Watchmen - I've never read the book, although I have it at home... I was still expecting this movie to be good, despite the reviews, but I wasn't expecting it to be this great!!!A coworker of mine gave it such a negative review... then again, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. lolI couldn't get enough of this movie. I was just in amazement of how well done this movie is. The fight scenes was just eye candy, but the overall story and aspect of it was what caught me. Funny how professiona ...- Read Guest's review (151 words)

For a dorky looking superhero movie, this became one of my favorite movies. I didn't even want to see this movie, but it somehow caught my inspiration by turning into some deep economical, philisophical, and intelectual film.
I loved the movie and all that it represented. Mostly metephorically, but the graphics and physical presentation were also amazing.- Read BesosBabyG's review (57 words)

Brilliant adaptation of the original graphic Watchmen novel/comic book. The dedication to the original material really showed, and it was a pleasure to see the backstory and history intact rather retold for the generic audience as was done with Spider-Man, etc. This is not a 'super hero' movie, and it's plot may be lost of viewers only going to see another flashy action-film with comic-book characters, i.e. X-Men, Iron Man, etc.- Read Guest's review (83 words)

There was way too much hype about Watchmen. I am not a fan of comics, but i enjoy most of the movies based on comic books. I feel like I wasted almost three hours my life watching this movie. The movie tralier got me really excited to see this movie and it is one of the biggest movie flops ever in my mind. The best part of my time at the theatre was watching the trailer to Terminator Salvation. The movie took way too long. Rorschach was a cool character and the effects were pretty good.

Watchmen was a really well made movie the visuals the effects, the characters, it ' s a really surprising movie. The idea of the parallel words makes it even more "real" and definitely makes you think about it. I know some people won't understand it, but I've seen this many times leaving a theatre and looking at some peoples' faces showing that confusion expression. It ' s OK thou, but I think everyone should go watch it and make your own opinions about it.- Read wijagoro's review (146 words)

This isn't your generic run-of-the-mill super hero story and I personally like that. I don't want to go to the cinema to see what is in essence the same story told over and over again, so I welcomed this change to the usual format. It's much darker and unsettling compared to other super hero films I've watched and this is because it's meant to be a more realistic take on the super hero figure. The heroes aren't all people you could look up to and idealise because they have their own issues, t ...- Read Angels Sin's review (292 words)

I think Watchmen was utterly repulsive. Usually I can find something to appreciate in a film, or at least not like it but not hate it. This was authentically bad. How does one make such a gruesome, gratuitously depressing and violent movie boring at the same time? Seriously unnecessary film to have been made here. Half the audience in my theater walked out.- Read yogithom's review (84 words)

I'm not to sure about what to say. Watchman has some great scenes, and great cinematography. However I feel that this movie went way over the top with sex scenes and nudity. I also feel that it was just too long at 2 hrs 45 mins and really needed to be cut down. This story could have been a lot better if told in just 2 hrs. As for the movie it was good and brought up several interesting points. However it can't compete with other recent superhero movies of late.- Read Guest's review (106 words)

Watchmen matches every expectation you could have. It didn't exceed any, but the scope of the movie wouldn't really allow the whole story to fit into 160min. The ending change was justified, and i accepted it.- Read Guest's review (36 words)

Watchmen was a really bad film. Just had me wanting to leave. Is this the best Hollywood can do these days?
Uninspired dialogue. Too much trying to give us plot and did we really need to see the history of all of them?!! Although the visual effects and Sound were superb.- Read Guest's review (51 words and 6 comments)
