As Rebus novels go, Dead Souls is a classic. Rebus at his most clever, and thankfully surly best. Our hero gets down and dirty, visiting some of Edinburgh's darkest corners. Highly recommended book by a top rate crime writer!!

As in all Rebus novels, the endings can at times tie up just a little too neatly. Still, he makes it believeable.....

Recommended to any serious detective novel reader. Rankin does not write Rebus as a super hero, and that's the appeal here.
