    Andrew Gahan's 3ds Max Modeling for Games is great for beginners and it gets progressively more complex throughout the book. Comes with a DVD of examples and a load of reference photos from an abandoned victorian mental hospital - awesome. Includes render tips as well as how to put a pro portfolio together and how to interview. This is a fantastic book for anyone wanting to get into the games industry. It is written by one of the guys from Sony who make the MotorStorm games for Playstation 3.
