    Good Points: A classic .


    Bad Points: Somewhat dated.


    General comments: Despite being initially published in 1950 (with some later additions), The Story of Art is the difinitive tome for anyone who wants a thorough overview of the history of art. Although developments in fine art are viewed in the light of critical theory these days, university fine art courses still suggest this book as a foundation.
