I purchased a Giant Alias a couple of months ago and I love the bike. I have bought it to compete in Adventure Racing. I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money and the Alias was, from my research, the best value for money bike.

It is strong, yet quite light. Gear changes are quick and easy. Remote lock out is so easy to use.

Pop locs, rox shox and lizard skins... who could want more!

A great bike for XC.

I love the Giant Alias, it's been a great bike for getting into some decent riding without spending the earth and breaking the bank balance. As best I could work out from researching before buying is that this is the best value for money bike out there. The only thing which has been a pain are the toe clips. You almost need two hands to get your foot into them so I've gone and bought some SPD's I found on the cheap. Being a mere mortal rider I thought I could get away with using toe clips but SPD's are definitely the way to go they make the ride a heap more enjoyable. I'm having trouble figuring out what a downside to the bike is, it's simply easy to ride. I went from owning a GT to the Giant and I'm real happy with the choice.

The Giant 2009 Alias is really good value for money. Great shocks, good group set and a really strong frame. The only parts I dont really like are the pedals and the rims, i think these could be better.

This Giant 2009 Alias is a great bike for getting into XC. It is relatively light and I always feel in control on this bike. Positive and quick gear levers make pedaling in correct cadence very easy.

The collapsing pedal cages make it hard to get into without using hands.
