“great idea but not reliable”

My 1 year old rescue pointer chased all livestock.During many months of professionally assisted training in a controlled environment the dog behaved impecably but when let loose in the countryside, there was still a huge problem; therefore the collar seemed a brilliant idea. Unfortunately, it has failed to work on several occasions, especially when the dog's body seems to block the signal i.e. when the dog is running away from me. I have used my pac collar on 4 kelpies trainging as sheep dogs , one dog in particular was dificult to control before introducing the collar .If the bleep is alwayus used first before low level stimulus.one can control the dog without any shock required.just a bleep but basic discipline traning in stop &stay must be carried out first ,ensure your dog understands stop and stay with treats and praise...see you tube for guidance on kelpie sheep dog training ..The pac collar company have... I have owned two collars for my Springer Spaniels which I ruined by being too quick to shoot over. The collars saved me and I have used them for about 6 years. They work well, and are ideal for lively dogs, but they must be used properly and humanely. I have returned them to Pac for new collar pacs when the batteries became us, but they had been sued non-stop for about 2 years before replacement was needed. “I bought one of these remote collars about 3 years ago...”

I bought one of these remote collars about 3 years ago and have used it probally 12 times and have had it back to the maker 3 times with handdset and collar problems.The remote collar is very simple to use and when it works properly it is a very good device,these views are my own personal thoughts and i am sure other people have better views.
