“Vital to my business..”

Unfortunately I found Peninsula too late. I had an employee take me to tribunal and the whole process cost us an arm and a leg and really scared me that we could be so vulnerable to having to pay out large sums even though we thought we'd done everything by the book. I was then told about Peninsula by a friend and within a few weeks of the initial meeting they had rewritten our handbooks & contracts of employment so we wouldnt be caught short again. Peninsula came in and helped us in our time of need; a former employee was taking us to tribunal and we really didn’t know where to turn. “Little obvious understanding of the law...”

This company has been sending me unsolicited emails for several years. I have relied via the 'unsubscribe' link many times with no effect. I have replied to individuals at Peninsula requesting that my name should be removed from their database - again, no reply. I have now made a complaint to the ICO about their disregard for the relevant laws. Please can you contact the Head of Seminar Marketing or the data protection compliance manager so we can discuss your concerns. Our marketing programme is provided by a third party with a data management cycle which can take up to 12 weeks to remove all data from their databases.

“Not Fit For Purpose”

I receive inconsistent advise from a plethora of advisers at Peninsula. It is really difficult to stick to one adviser giving advice per case as, despite clear instruction, other advisers jump in and answer emails sent to other's email addresses, often giving conflicting advice to the previous advisor. I have had loads of errors in communication and documentation from this company which does not improve despite my complaints. I am also interested in joining as my REVIEW HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF TILL I PROVE I WAS A CUSTOMER!! I will stand my ground and have my say (currently waiting to have it reinstated). I had a small business and the dealings I had with Peninsula were traumatic to say the least. I will not be bullied into not saying anything. It was a very expensive mistake and I fully trusted the gentleman who came to see me regarding this company. Big Mistake! One I wont do again in a hurry.

My review has just been reinstated after PBS contacted the review centre to have it removed. I had to prove I am a genuine customer. I think the polarisation of ratings is interesting for this company - mostly either 1 star or 5. This is unusual as there is usually more of a variety. It makes me question if the people giving 5 stars are genuine or are they employees of PBS trying to increase their rating?

We have recently been through a harrowing tribunal supposedly represented by Peninsula, they failed to include evidence did not prepare us for the employment tribunal, and put together statements for us, forcing us to submit them to the tribunal before even seeing evidence presented. It was a complete shambles, and as a result we have been found guilty of unfair dismissal. Peninsula insurance have now announced we are not covered and have to pay a significant part of £12k. It has been very stressful, and we are a small business. I would definitely be interested in get involved, we are currently looking into professional negligence. They are a terrible company to deal with, and have put us through immense pressure and stress. If you wan to forward your email I would be happy to discuss this

It is just as stressful, if not more for a genuine employee who disagrees with the bull*it these people give to employers who lie and win their tribunal case leaving an employee with a wrecked career. From the reviews on here it can be seen they are only good for their own business. They operate like gangsters, racketeering to go with the gambling business; this is a protection racket, follow our rules or pay the price?

I have passed this on to my boss to deal with (he owns the company, I manage it). I think contacting Watchdog is a good way to go as courts are expensive and timely. • I am not quite sure what your point is here Osprey65? If someone is disappointed with a service and some people on here clearly are then they will rate Peninsula Business Services poorly, which they are entitled to do. On the other hand if people are very pleased with the service we provide then they are entitled to rate us highly surely? or are you asking that people rate us somewhere in the middle for great or poor service so that there is a neutral balance?
You say that at one point that Peninsula Business Service has had a very poor rating and all of a sudden the rating has improved. Are we not allowed to improve our service to our clients? Surely we would not have acquired over 28,000 clients and become a market leader and award winner if indeed as you are suggesting we have placed false and misleading reviews. With that said using your logic is it not conceivable that the negative reviews placed on here are the reviews to be looking at as amiss? And now the positives are out weighting them? Maybe something to be discussed which I am happy to do so.
Either way I would like to thank you for placing a review good or bad because it is only with our clients feedback that we can improve and deliver a consistent service to all.

When I wrote this review there were many negative reviews giving this company a rating of 1.8. Many of those reviews have been removed, at the request of PBS no doubt. Leaving PBS with a rating of 4.5 for the last 6 months. I do hope these reviews are genuine, but I fear they are not. The recent customer comments appear at first glance to be blatant advertising and only represent the views of less than 1 in 1000 of the PBS customer base. I remain to be convinced by the sudden upsurge in the satisfaction this company provides it's customers.

I was trying to be objective. Hopefully for all of us, PBS have or will deal properly with these reviews rather than just influence the posting of very optimistic adverts. I have been directly involved with this company I know how they work. Several court cases, I have also written to my MP about their conduct! I have made other reviews if you care to look?

“They have SAVED me money and are brilliant”

I would not cope without these guys. They help me with HR for my cleaning firm and their tight contracts have saved me MORE cash than I spend with them. I started on the small business package of £78+VAT a month, but now my business has grown to more employees I am still on that flat rate for the term of the contract. On this post I have asked PBS some questions to which they have failed to respond. The trend here is posotive reviews 5 stars but more of the opposite 1 star hence the very low rating 1.8/5. You are clearly in the minority. As I have stated there are some VERY suspicious reviews. I'd guess from your reaction your review is genuine...

No I am genuine I promise. I run a little cleaning company which consists of just me and 14 cleaners. When they mess me about, which they frequently do, I have Peninsula to help. Thanks to PBS I have got rid of my troublesome staff and right now have lovely ladies (and one nice bloke) doing an excellent job for me.

“Very disappointed - feel very angry with Peninsula”

We are a very small company and want to run our business correctly. So in June 10 we signed to Peninsula for a 3 year contract. Intially they helped issue new contracts for 5 staff and I made a couple of HR query phone calls to them. For the last year or so I have not spoken to them, they no longer send me weekly email bulletins of hot tips. mainly just to the posts where there is no name and they want to stay anonymous. Peninsula will rectify mistakes, this is bound to happen with 25000+ clients. If a name is given (even privately) the situation would be looked at, but its never forthcoming.

PS, FSB and Peninsula are not even comparable services. Please see the FSB price list for any work you need doing. Its a pay as you go service. provided by a third party, Abbey Legal Protection. Peninsula is fixed fee, unlimited access 1-5 year contract.

Unprofessional, incompetent, they can't even communicate between themselves in the same office space let alone departments, they seem to be hell bent on protecting their indemnity more than they do their clients and give advice that protects them leaving you with a bigger headache than if you had dealt with the situation yourself. Well, it has taken us 13 months to do it but after lots of legal tooing an throwing we finally have these incompetents of our back. What a sigh of relief. It did come at a cost though, £3,000 out of court settlement and £1,000 in legal fees. Not bad as they originally wanted £26,000. I believe we would have won the case but the legal fees would have been in excess of £4,000 and there was no guarantee we would be awarded legal costs. So, a Phyrric victory but a victory none the less. Stay away is my advice and speak to ACAS instead, it's free and it's good advice. G-MAN-UK...

Without question, Peninsula fully accepts that any poor advice is a major frustration to our clients, and of course, is equally frustrating towards our own aim to provide clients with the reliable service they demand, deserve, and are accustomed.

From the details provided we are unable to identify your account or matc ith to one of the 807 complaints we received regarding advice last year relating to over 1,000,000 contacts with our 26,000 clients. Generally the insurance policy that is taken out is to protect you and your business with regards to legal expenses and award cover. You have looked into our concerns but to an unsatisfactory level, it's not just the insurance it's the pure level of incompetence, conflicting advice, poor advice, and lack of communication between your staff and your departments. Did I say lack, I mean devoid of communication. Nice little advert you snuck in there. If you have so few complaints as your post suggests, you will not require the services of a detective to figure out who I am.
