My decision to have a softener was mainly for my helping my son who has severe eczema. A week on and I am simply amazed at the difference in my hair and skin, its like holiday hair and skin on tap! My taps, toilets and sink just look sparkly and its very or not to use so much shampoo etc. Baths feel so luxurious that its hard to get out. The service has been faultless, the installer is a credit to Harvey's and he ensured that we were totally happy with his suggestions on locating the... (read more)

I have always struggled with hard water and the damage clearly showing on the kettle and my hair (or lack of!!). Since we bought a new house, we were informed that the area has extremely hard water and then contacted Harvey Water Softeners. Their Rep demonstrated the kit and also undertook the installation. Their service was also good and the Technician knew the solution. If there is one thing they could improve on, it would be the need for weekend appointments as we struggled to be at home... Our taps and sinks were always covered on scale, our shower doors were always full of water marks. Not any more. We had a water softener fitted by Harvey's and within weeks the problem was visibly better. My taps are shining again and my sinks and basins have no more scale. I can just imagine what the inside of the taps and pipes looked like! Hopefully this over time will also be solved. Definitely noticed the difference. Showering and bathing is now so much nicer with softer water. ly... (read more)

Although there were intial problems due the very hard water in our area this was soon sorted out by the engineers from Harvey. The use of blocks of salt is a very easy method of recharging the softener, certainly for me (80 year old). The Sales Service department has been very helpful and the engineers very knowledgeable and efficient. I have already sung your praises to my brother in law. (read more)

After many years of very hard water with some relief using an electronic softener, decided to bite the bit and invested in a Harveys softener. I had discounted my preferred option, Kinetico, years ago because of the cost but have a little bit more money now so after daughter had one installed and loved it, I did a bit more research to find Kinetico had become Harveys! The guy who did the survey and the installer were both excellent, not pushy in any way but very informative and answered all... (read more)

We live in a reasonably hard water area. The water softener effectively removes hardness from the water and one can notice this when bathing. I cannot say that I particularly notice a saving in detergent but there is a noticeable absence of marks on taps, sinks and sanitary ware. The installation was neatly and professionally performed. My only comment would be the waste pipe for the resin flush flow. This has been left as a 10mm flexible pipe, routed to an open outside drain through an... (read more)

We had the Harvey Water Softner fitted in December 2012 and instantly took to it! I couldn't believe the change in my skin, blemishes and dryness seemed to disappear within weeks. It's truly amazing the difference we have seen. We would highly recommend the system to anyone who is just thinking about giving it a go, and in fact we have now bought it outright! We chose to keep a separate tap for drinking 'hard' water. The difference in our kettle (ie, no scum or hard bits of lime scale... (read more)

This was a replacement for another manufacturer's softener which had come to the end of it's life. The first thing that struck me was how tiny the Harvey's unit was compared to our old model. Despite bristling with clever features to make it work better, it couldn't be easier to use. There is nothing to program or adjust or maintain, it's fully automatic and completely looks after itself. It is entirely water powered and uses no electricity, very clever! There is virtually no reduction... (read more)

We had our water softener installed in June 2012, a very quick neat job of installing it under the sink, and the fitter even adapted our existing shelf to give us as much useable space as possible under the sink. We opted for the 3 month rental system, with the rental being deducted from the final balance, if we wished to purchase the unit. Almost immediately we noticed the difference in the limescale deposits on everything and the softness of the water is lovely on the skin/hair and in washing clothes. We are only two in our household and I buy 5 packs of salt for under £25 which lasts 5 months. I also use the Harvey Washing Powder, which is great and makes the whites whiter and the coloured clothes brighter. I am just coming to the end of my first order of 3 packs which I purchase at the end of the rental period, at a cost of £23 and it is delivered to my door, so very cost effective plus the saving on the chemicals I previously used e to combat the limescale. We opted to take their interest free payment scheme which was a big help also. If you are thinking of buying one I recommend you do it sooner rather than later.

I recommend the fitting of a water softener to any home, particularly if the hot water system is fitted with a hot water cylinder the element of which is liable to being covered by lime scale which is not preventable by the addition of salt crystals as in the case of dishwashers and washing machines. Yes- the option to cancel at any time was available- bbut asically happy with the device, works well. My only comment is the installation should be complete- not with failure modes (Sub zero temperatures) which the owner is left to sort out. Actually didn't prove to be a problem this winter and I haven't done the 'fix' yet.
Yes I paid the same- B&Q does a DIY unit that uses granular salt at half the price- actually there are loads to choose from- perhaps there is a Which? survey that would help you choose an alternative.
