    Good Points: Very good laptop at the time it works...


    Bad Points: Motherboad failure because nvidia gpu (video card) overheating..


    General comments: Toshiba in october 2008 repair for free motherboard failure and extend for one more year base warranty. Go to Toshiba site for more details. An upgrade bios version (3.9) is available to prevent this failure. Therefore do recommend the Toshiba G30-204.

    Toshiba Qosmio G30 paid a bundle for this laptop so disappointed when the motherboard failed. Called Toshiba help line and was told no problem with this model. Did my own research and found that in fact in Sept 2008 Toshiba came out with an announcement re the GPU failing on some models. I do not have the laptop back from the depot where I took it but understand that Toshiba is fixing it at their expense.     I have Qosmio G10 GP2, it has powerful and fast machine with excellent LCD screen, Not recommended until Toshiba come up with some reliable products. Too heavy, short battery life, and problem with video chip set which will last few years only and you have to dump this as the chipset is part of mother board. Therefore I do not recommend the Toshiba G30-204.

    I thought it was a great machine but over 2000 on a machine which only just lasts longer than the warrenty has put me off ever buying a Toshiba again. If it was just a problem with mine it might be understandable but many people have also had the same failure, sometimes more than once.
