“Well priced”

★★★★☆

written by EvaNavak on 02/03/2021

The Karcher K2 Compact Home Pressure Washer is well priced and very compact to store. Despite its small size, it performs just as well as some of the larger models tested. It scored well in our performance test

“Fairly lightweight”

★★★★☆

written by AdelinaBelarus on 15/01/2021

At a little over 4kg, the Karcher K2 is a fairly lightweight unit for its size. The integrated carry handle makes moving the unit east, the weight is well balanced so it's comfortable to hold for long durations. A nice bonus is all of the included equipment can be stored on the device itself, everything has a home.

“Motor started smoking. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Unhappycustomer9988 on 05/07/2020

I bought the K2 about 5 yrs ago. Only used it about 6 times to wash a car. Its been stored after being drained of water for 2 yrs indoors. Went to use it today to wash the oath at the new house and it lasted 5mins. Started smoking and nearly caught fire. The total operating time has been 90mins. I've just googled and found I'm not along. These things just be made for chocolate as they seem to melt very easily.

“Karcher K2 not up to the mark”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KaileyKincaid on 25/04/2020

My K2 pressure washer died after only a total usage of around 15 hours. On inspection, I discovered that the brushes on the motor had worn down at such a rapid rate that they had shorted the motor's commutator resulting in catastrophic damage. In my humble opinion, those brushes were vastly inferior and the design of the brush holders that allowed the brushes to wear to destruction, poor. So much for German engineering! The cheapest replacement motor costs £45, which accounts for more than 50% of the purchase price of the appliance. When will companies learn about the waste of resources in this throw away world. I will most certainly not buy a Karcher product again.

Starfire3's Comment

Mine stopped dead after a total of 15 hours work. Checked motor and the commutator had lost 3 segments due to cheap and nasty brushes wearing out with no protective stops to prevent them from shorting on the commutator.
Karcher K2 nothing but a load of cheap tat. Never again.

“Karcher k2 lasted 20 minutes”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MeghanGriffin1989 on 28/03/2017

Bought a couple of weeks ago, washed the car twice seemed OK, went to clean my decking off and it's lost pressure after 20mins of hard use. Total rubbish! My old cheaper one lasted 3 years at least. I'll never by another from them.

“rubbish Karcher 2.94”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/04/2016

I brought a Karcher 2.94 pressure washer and the whole experience has turned out bad. The unit only lasted 9 hours use and then it will not go onto full power. Read lots of reviews on the internet and most are negative. Will not buy a Karcher pressure washer again.

“very disappointed”

written by Kathryn1962 on 02/07/2015

Purchased the washer two years ago but have hardly used it due to fact it kept cutting out. After looking on forums decided that it could need new capacitor which I duly got.Fitted new genuine karcher one and the washer worked for two minutes then cut out again.I bet I havnt used item more than a dozen times if that, very disappointed in product as it had a very good name.

“Karcher k214.0 Worked once and burned out.Third and last.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by coly on 27/04/2015

Third Karcher died after one use. Cleaned patio one summer and next year smoked and burned when switched on. The previous two lasted a bit longer but mot much. I will never buy this make again. They are quite cheap now but obviously this reflects on the quality and I would guess they cannot be easily repaired. Very disappointing for supposed German quality. I will buy another make in the hope that it lasts longer than one wash. At this rate I may as well pay someone to come and do it for me - same cost as a washer and I can sit and watch the telly whist he spends the day in the garden washing.

“Fantastic plastic. a review by Rickam”

★★★☆☆

written by Edithf290 on 24/07/2014

In my case I have had three different K2 units die in the same way. The black plastic housing cracks and the unit pulses, loses power and leaks. When the K2 is running, it works quite well. After conducting an autopsy on each, I would say that the technology looks pretty good, but Karcher should provide service parts for this device (they don't), and at a reasonable cost. All the units I have owned have not lasted very long at all in terms of hours, or days from purchase. It may be superstition, but they tend to last a year from the date of purchase. Another possibility of why my units failed is how they are handled in transport. ALWAYS DISCONNECT BOTH HOSES from the unit during transport. The long black ABS goose necks (they don't look long with the Karcher Yellow shroud - but they are!) that attach to the lance hose and supply hose can gain a lot of leverage and crack the pump housing. Those hose fittings are the Achilles' heels of the machine. The same tip can be used for laptops or anything with plug in cables or power supplies. Unplug everything when you transport a laptop. I still don't know if it was my fault that all my karchers died. But being the curious kind. I keep buying them - "The Devil that you know"

“Not one of my better purchases”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 04/11/2013

I have heard much about Karcher products over recent years. Friends of mine wax lyrically about how much easier cleaning jobs of all types around the home become with one of these devices. Some of the jobs they describe as being made easier do strike me as being those which could quite easily be ignored in most cases. Does one necessarily need to constantly clean a concrete drive ? Nevertheless I decided to take the plunge and spent over a hundred pounds on this particular model, the K2. Immediately I found it difficult to connect the hose and trigger assembly to the front of the unit. It had been stressed to me that Quality was the top word in the Karcher vocabulary. If that is true why was this particular connection fabricated in PLASTIC and not METAL ? After struggling half a dozen times to assemble and disassemble this connection the thread was stripped. The unit is now quite useless Doubtless if I had complained to the manufacturer they would have sent me replacement parts FREE FROM CHARGE I would then have enjoyed the dubious pleasure of struggling for a day or more to install them only for these to need replacing after a further six cycles. Life is too short I cannot recommend this product at all but would say if you have a desperate need, buy British. I wish I had.

“must of got LUCKY!”

★★★★★

written by on 03/07/2013

Mine is getting on 10 years old and is only now showing signs of starting to die! it has had a very well used life, from car cleaning, decking and fence cleaning, fleet of vans at work, complete 50m sq. workshop floor (and this was using a syphon pipe from a water tub and sucking it up, which these are not meant to do!)I only see bad reports of these but this one has been great. I will be buying another one at the weekend to replace it. You have to follow the storage instructions and make sure they are 'bled thru' before using them again after a long period of time otherwise they get air locked and that will damage the motor. its a domestic cleaner and it did what it was meant to do(and more!)

First one died after 13 months and no more than an hours use in total in that time, threequaters of way thru cleaning my decking i stopped for a cup of tea and the machine refused to start , asked an engineer to look at it result skip it.No2 same problem used very lightly after 15 months using it to clean my daughters fence it stopped never to start again. The very annoying thing is both these machines still looked in new condition they just arnt up to the job.DO NOT BUY THESE WASHERS

“Poor quality with a very short life span”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/05/2013

Seems a common fault, only used a dozen times to clean a small patio, oil leaking from the casing, loss of pressure and then it burns itself out! Rubbish, would have expected a lot more from a reputed German brand!

When it works it is good but build quality is poor. In particular the wheels are very cheaply made and easily break.

It was used as soon as it was received and I found it easy to use and very efficient in cleaning my patio. The high pressure pipe took a little time to lose its coils having been like that when dispatched, and I had to be careful it did not kink.Apart from that it was very satisfactory and I would recommend it.

“Unreliable, poor quality materials”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/03/2013

My second Karcher 2.94 and just as unreliable as the first one which worked a coupl of times then began to overheat if used more than a couple of times. The replacement has been used twice and now broken down with burning smell from motor. Beware-if you keep your karcher jet washer in the shed they'll say that frost invalidates the warranty. Nilfisk next time who use metal rather than plastic pump.

“Great performer but alas short life span”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 24/08/2012

Excellent performance as it really does do what it says will do. Because itnisnsoneffective a cleaner it is used infrequently (max 4 times a year) to clean the patio so my machine is relatively new in terms of use. On the second outing the wheel broke off. And now I am experiencing a leakage of oil/grease lubricant which is marking the patio. There is no visible ( or internet user help) means of fixing this so looks like, still in its infancy, it is fit only for the bin. Might be cheaper to get the patio cleaned professionally!

This product does not do anything that you cannot do with just a hose pipe and a brush.
