  Good Points: Good value for properly rendundant network attached storage.
  Relatively easy to set up
  X-Raid appears to work well.
  Eaasy to put in a second disk.
  Lots of additionalt services (iTunes Server, Bit Torrent client, https, streaming video, photo sharing).
  Doesn't run too hot ~36 C.
  Only 35 watts (with 2 disks running).
  Very quiet.
  Upgradeable RAM and bigger disks can be put in so more future proof than a PC.
  Easy web interface for configuration.
  I can pick up my files remotely over HTTPS.
  

  
  

  Bad Points: Needs tweaking as out of box settings are not optimised for best performance.
  Tweaking will require some technical capability.
  Not fast over a wireless network (that is not the units fault but the lack of speed over wireless in general. Wireless N will clearly up the speed).
  

  
  

  General comments: I did a lot of research into NAS before buying one of these as this ticked pretty much all of my boxes in terms of redundancy, flexibility and price.
  
  It is essential if you buy one to check out www.readynas.com where there are many How To documents, lots of advice and a very good user forum.
  
  Apparently there is a limit to 1TB disks but there is a firmware patch which will allow large disks than this.
  
  I'm really glad I got one!
