I bought this machine to replace Hotpoint Ultima which I had for 14years. This machine is supposed to be super silent but is just as loud as the old one. My son & daughter both have the same machine and we all suffer with the problem of washing dark colours, everything black has white streaks. We all use different washing powder, I have used the same one for 40years never had a problem until this machine. The dryer is a joke you can't select a low time just to fluff up towels. I don't use... (read more)

The only think I can really moan about with this machine is that the drying seems to crease things really badly and you cant open the door during drying. Apart from that this machine has been perfect, I love it. Nothing has gone wrong (touch wood)Ive had it for 2 years and it washes very well and dries things when I need it to. I will be reluctant to get rid of this machine as it has served me well! (read more)

I bought this machine to replace the older Ultima I had for 5 years. The last 3 years of which I always had engineers as it would not dry. So I bought this machine in Feb 2012 and after some months discovered that the sensor drying was not working. No matter if I choose iron/hanger/cupboard, the cloths always come out bone dry and are too hot to touch. Hotpoint have been out twice to replace the sensor and then the main circuit board, but it still does not dry according to the selection. The... (read more)

This appliance has been nothing but problems. We've had it almost 3 years and it's already broken down 3 times - the first time was just 2 months after its warranty expired. Hotpoint clearly build their appliances so that break quickly and you are forced to buy a new item. Don't bother buying one of these! (read more)

Have had this machine for 14 months.Has now stopped working .The electronics have gone wrong ,just as the guarantee has run out. The machine switches its self on when it is switched off & other strange things. There is a 5 year parts guarantee, but this costs you over £100 for them to come out to you. will not use hotpoint again.I think a washer dryer that has light uses should last a lot longer than 14 months (read more)

WASHING MACHINE HAS SEVERELY BROKEN DOWN 4x IN UNDER 16 MONTHS. IT HAS CAUSED FURTHER DAMAGE TO OUR BRAND NEW KITCHEN WHICH WE ARE STILL AWAITING RECOMPENSE. AND NOW TODAY IT HAS BROKEN DOWN AGAIN WITH A SEVERE ELECTRICAL FAULT WHICH LUCKILY WE HAD A TRIP SWITCH ON THE CIRCUIT WHICH COULD OF BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. CURRYS AND HOTPOINT AFTER HOURS OF CORRESPONDENCE APPEAR EITHER UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO RESOLVE THIS WITH ME FOR A FULL REFUND OR REPLACEMENT PRODUCT DESPITE MY LEGAL... (read more)

Well it looks nice and that's the only good point about it. So far it's had springs breaking, sending the drum crashing down during a wash cycle. Display panel slowly disappeared a bit at a time. Circuit boards been replaced twice. The pump is constantly blocking but I can't clean it as it is inside the machine. This means I regularly can't use it to spin or dry clothes. Usually 5/7 days before Comet send someone out and if it needs parts then I've been without a washer for up to three... (read more)

The machine is not reliable - broke down within 2 years and one visit from a Hotpoint service representative costs over one hundred pounds - peace of mind for only a year costs almost two hunderd pounds. The machine's chip goes and altough nothing is wrong with it as such (i.e. the pump works, it fills, spins, etc) you have to get an engineer out to change the electronics. No more Hotpoint or Indesit for me (same company)! (read more)

If it actually worked it would be great. Functionality is key in an appliance and between being broken (twice in 13 months), running ear numbingingly loud spin cycles, and half dried and wrinkled clothing, I suggest you steer clear of this model.
If having a dependable working appliance isn't one of your key purchasing factors, you might enjoy the settings available, especially the one hour wash and dry which allows you to wash an outfit super fast, and a nice wool cycle.

Having owned one for 18months to replace a previous Hotpoint (that lasted less than a year before I insisted the retailer took it back) this one has finally given up the ghost. I had 4 Hotpoint engineer visits in the first 2 months before they finally discovered there was a loose wire.
I am changing manufacturers, as I have no faith left in Hotpoint.

I have owned this machine for 2 years now, no issues with it at all. Would say that the in built drying programs are a bit overkill. Normally 40 degree wash with 40 mins drying suffices. Never had any damage to anything we've washed. (read more)

I wanted a new washer-dryer to replace an old Zanussi which I'd had for 20 years, so I bought a Hotpoint WDD960, what a mistake! The machine doesn't rinse properly. Time and time again I have to rinse and then rinse again. I bought my daughter one too and she has the same problem, ruined her Monsoon tops. There are white marks in most of the darker clothes. I tried using liquid detergent and that doesn;t make a difference. I rang Hotpoint who suggested it is because I live in a hard water... (read more)

I love this machine BUT ... in 2 and a half years I'm now waiting for my 5th callout!! I've had the filters replaced 3 times and a new circuit board, and it is again tripping the electric! This problem was 'solved' only last week by an engineer! I've now asked for a new machine. Would love a Bosch or a Miele but Miele are over £1000 and Bosch drums are only 5kg! (read more)

I have owned this Hotpoint WDD960 model for under a year and have a pile of clothes with holes in them. There is clearly a problem with the drum. (read more)

The Hotpoint WDD960 was a replacement for my zanussi washer dryer, comet very reluctantly replaced it after 9 engineer visits and about £100 in telephone calls. in hindsight my old zanussi was brilliant but finally gave up about 3 months before my 5 year extended warranty ran out, hence the reluctance to replace at their expense. unless it's just the machine i have i would say this model's dryer isn't very good, takes far too long when it is working. Hi - I understand your frustrations. I am having the same problem. Ring the manufacturer, one of the options is 'if you have bought your machine from comet' let them sort your problem out :-) goodluck!

The Hotpoint WDD960 has great functionality if you are not too bothered about the information being displayed not agreeing with what the machine is actually doing. (read more)
