We should have known better than to buy the Mac allister pressure washer, never again and to all those that may think about buying it .. DON'T Purchased 2009 used 3 times to clean patios , so not an item used regulary, only ocassional usage. The trigger mechanisum packs up water going everywhere that was early 2010, but as out of the 12 month warrenty got in touch with spares and purchased a new trigger unit (june 2010) cost £47, guess what used 2/3 times trigger unit packs up again... Hi, did you get any further with this? I have exactly the same issue. I thought it may be the 'O' rings in the valve section, I have replaced these and there is no change - same fault as your handle(s), mine is also unusable. Any information on how far you get with B&Q will be of assistance to me and others who may require bullets…

I had the exact same issue with my MAC3. replaced every O ring in the gun, but I still ended up wetter then what it should have been spraying!! Complete waste of money! It wasn't cheap either!

I bought this pressure washer last year, I used it on my decking and cleaned the car, I put it away for the winter took it out the following summer and discovered that it would only work for a few minutes.
Basically the motor keeps cutting out, it runs for about three minutes then cuts out and then restarts after about two more minutes.
I found that bouncing it off a wall can help, doesn't help the pressure washer but made me feel a bit better.

I bought a mac 3 and used it about 3 times. Very powerful but guess what, water stated to gush out of the handle. It is clearly a design fault and if i had read these reviews first i wouldnt have bought one. However some good news. Thanks to someone else on here i was able to buy a new handle for it from 'Spares Giant'tel. 01772329568. They were very helpful and understood the problem. They sell a replacement gun/lance (about £32) and it fits easily onto your existing pipe. They sell a lot as... (read more)

The Mac2 pressure washer was guaranteed for 3 years. The lance leaked very badly. B&Q refused to replace it (said the lance was an "accessory"). So I sued them in the small claims court and got my purchase price refunded.
My advice - never buy any B&Q own brand electrical products. But if you have, and its still under guarantee, SUE.

THANK YOU FOR THE INPUT. I completely endorse what everyone else has written. This machine is the biggest pile of cr@p ever. I've used it no more than 6 times but the trigger is f$cked, it p!sses water out everywhere and the motor sppeds up and slows down like some demented duracell rabbit. A dreadful piece of equipment that B&Q should be ashamed of. Clearly produced with the sole intention of making something cheap that promised the earth and delivers nothing. (read more)

Bought this product around 6 months ago. Used it around a dozen times until the handle started p...ing out water and water leaking from base. Took it back to B&Q for an exchange product but as I had lost my receipt they wanted nothing to do with it. What a joke especially when its obvious the product is a complete piece of cr.p. They OBVIOUSLY KNOW ITS CR.P because they have withdrew it from their shelves. Will not be back to B&Q EVER!!!! (read more)

This product (Mac 2) is absolute kenk! - Used three times and then handgun piping perished losing pressure making it now as useful as a trap door in a canoe!
Given the reviews I have read I presume that product testing prior to its introduction was none existant. Tried to get spare lead without success but having read the reviews it would probably be a waste of time - B & Q were about as helpful as a thunderstorm at a picnic and their staff are as thick as mince.
To be honest this product...

the machineis rubbish. After using is 4 times the water was gushing out of the handle. If you look inside the handle it is so badly made it's no wonder it fails. Here's what to do. Write to B & Q and tell them that the machine is not fit for purpose and what are they going to do about it as it's an own brand product. They should write back and tell you to return it for a refund. I did, despite being 2 years old and 'hey presto' they gave me my money back!

After using the Mac1 for so long and it breaking then upgrading to a Mac 2, we had this product for 11 months. We bought it brand new in March 2009 and used it twice to clean the paving front and back. Earlier last month, just a few weeks out of warranty, pulled it out to clean the patio again and the handle leaks like a broken gutter in a storm. No replacement handle available and can't see many details for contacting MacAllister ..LOS! (read more)

I bought the Macallister Mach 1 in Summer 2008 and cleaned a small Patio and a short pathway. I took it back last Summer 2009 as the motor would not switch on, and exchanged for a Mach 2 at just under £90 for which I paid the difference in price. It too was used to do the same cleaning job and then it was stored away until today. When I tried to use it, water simply gushed out of the handle and so we had another trip to B&Q. My treatment was appalling, waiting one and a half hours to see a... (read more)

Macalister Mac 3 - very powerful but one week out of warranty and water came spewing out of the trigger handle. B&Q are a waste of space, they no longer stock or support this product. The best they could do was to reccommend an Expand It replacement trigger and hose at £30, which they didn't have in stock and they couldn't tell me if my existing attackments would fit. (read more)

I bought the Mac 4 pressure washer from B & Q, it is the daddy of all the cheap pressure washers, works fantastically, I have read the reviews of all the Mac 1's and Mac 2's, and in my opinion if you buy a Lada Car, you have to expect it to run like a Lada car. If you buy a very very cheap price pressure washer, you have to expect it to perform likewise. The Mac 4 is so powerful and compactly built, it all so has an auto pump cut off when the trigger is not pulled, hence saving the motor and... (read more)

MacAllister MAC2.
How any company put this product on the market is unexplainable. After short time in use the "gun"leaked more water than the nossel. After a replacement was found (not easy) that also leaked badly just as much.
Over all nothing can said about this pressure except DO NOT BUY ONE!!

If you are thinking of buying a MacAllister - DON'T DO IT. Handgun broke after a few months (leaking so no pressure). Had lost receipt so B&Q were about as helpfull as a chocolate fire guard, in fact a chocolate fire guard would have been far better than the help from B&Q but they were very happy to sell me another hand gun. Replacing the hand gun and the connector on the unit snapped. B&Q even worse and MacAllister technical services basically said put it in the bin. Next time I will put my... (read more)

I used this MacAllister MAC 1 TWICE in a week and that was it, the motor does sound like it even turns on anymore!!! The pressure washer must like washing my car even less than I do. This has to be the worst product I have ever read about it a review!! Went to B&Q and they were as usful as a chocolate fireguard. I got told to ring the help line, and nobody was there to answer the phone. Great stuff, I will just go to Wickes or Screwfix from now one, cheaper, better made, quality products!! (read more)

I have really only used this Macallistair pressure washer 10 times at most, and after the 4th or 5th time the detergent would not feed through from either container. Then the same problem has occured with my own as to as previous writer, where the pump unit at the hose outlet on the casing of the machine has split ,resulting in almost all pressure being lost. What a piece of crap! Dont even bother considering this regardless of sale price. Very unhappy of Scotland. (read more)

The MacAllister MAC 1 worked great the 1st few months. But the casting split after its 1st winter storage even tho it was a mild winter! PROB DUE TO FROST, still managed to use it with its leaking, the pressure keeps stopping when in use like something is sticking, even before the casting to the inlet part was split. won't be buying anything more from this manufacturer. My MacAllister MAC2 lasted just over a year, long enough to take it outside of the warranty. B&Q support line was completely unsupportive and I can't trace a reapir facility anywhere. I would reccomend steering well clear of Macallister products and B&Q.
It's replacement will be a better make bought from a shop that cares about after sales service.

This was doin a decent job until it died on me last Sunday. I bought the MAC 1 in summer 2007 and used it to wash patio flags, surrounding fence and my driveway each of the last 2 years.
I called their tech help line who informed me that they have no repair facility and basically, because the warranty had expired, I'm stuck with some landfill fodder. Hung out to dry yet again.
