We held our daughters 18th birthday party here last week and over 130 guests had a wonderful time. Sarah (our contact at DGH) was an absolute diamond, nothing was too much trouble, and throughout the whole planning of the party, she kept in touch with us and made the planning and the run up to the party an absolute breeze. My partner and I were wedded at the Davenport Green Hall this March and we could not have wished for a more idyllic wedding day (except for better weather!!). This is a beautiful wedding venue with large picturesque gardens which look lovely in our photographs. My husband and I got married on 18th August 2012 at Davenport Green Hall, it was a fantastic day and the venue offered us more than we could ever have hoped for in terms of a special setting to celebrate. we made use of the Cheshire Barn for the ceremony and then the White room for speeches and drinks with a BBQ on the terrace outside. The Davenport Green Hall venue in itself provides a perfect setting for the ceremony, the photographs and the reception. This can be said for a lot of venues, but what my wife and I, including all our guests said, that what sets this place apart from others is that the staff were the most respectful, attentive and friendly I have seen in most of my years (43). I had my wedding reception here on the 3rd of August 2012. The venue was beautiful but it was the staff that made it truely special. They were, as can only be described, outstanding. Nothing was too much effort for them. They catered to my guests in a wonderful way, everyone commented on how well looked after they were. I have never seen detail to attention like it. First of all I am writing this review not as a bride or groom but as a bridesmaid on my friends wedding day 25/08/12. Felt I had to write about our experience, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left which by the way the lovely owner gave us a lift back to our hotel in his rolls royce which was luxury. Wow where do I start! MY husband and I held our wedding reception here two days ago and we are still in complete shock at how amazing we were treated on our special day. The limit set on the main P.A. (the music) had to be turned down so low that I could not even tell what was playing and together with the rude staff made the hole experience uncomfortable. For the vast amount of money paid was a complete joke. DO NOT USE THIS VENUE! (read more)

We are about to book this venue for my daughters wedding next year it sounds wonderful speaking to the gent who ownes it !! even giving his use of his helicopter !! We will be sinking all our savings into making this the best day of our daughters life and would be glad of any comments you might have Thank you.

the venue does not have to turn down the music, it is regulated Did you not look into this when booking? When you book a bad the first thing yo should to is ask them to check the sound system at the venue. Mere Court is the same as are many venus in Manchester

Very disappointed by the owners and management staff. Made lots of promises but never held them. Wedding organiser that we were in contact with before the day never even showed their face on the day. Rude staff! We provided breakfast snacks which they forgot to put out! Ran out of food for the buffet lunch! Ran out of glasses for champagne reception! There is no mistaking, this venue is beautiful. The thing you need to be aware of is the management style of the owners. Get absolutely everything in writing. We were promised all sorts of things and then when it came down to it, our hopes were dashed. There are also lots of restrictions on what entertainment you can have owing to the fact they have flouted the law so many times in terms of planning permissions. most people were surprised how close you are to the Airport yet they weren't aware you are there !

As former clients at this venue, we were really let down. The Marquee sound system was ridiculous. They use a limiter which we subsequently found out why! Trafford council has issued an Enforcement notice stating that the Marquee was erected without planning permission and Davenport Green Hall are in breach of several regulations. They have been asked to remove it but have appealed. The outcome of which is due in April. In our personal opinion, the venue portrays themselves as a professional... (read more)

I found this review not helpful because it doesnt potray the truth at all and who ever has written this needs to be very carefull to get the facts right. Ex clients I am not sure off and to say we are 1 star for location tells me it's either someone who wants make a problem or an ex employee. We are one of the better locations in The North West with easy access to Airoprt, Train anmd road links as we are 2 minutes away from the M56 and yet set in 16 acres of quiet Cheshire countryside. If you would like to find out about the " restrictions" pleas get in touch with the venue who will give you the truth.

In response to Graham C's comments on my review. Firstly, I am quite sure I have all my facts straight. It is fairly obvious Graham has an affiliation with the company, so of course he is going to try and defend how Davenport cut corners without gaining planning permission. What I find extraordinary is how he has the audacity to question the genuineness of my review! I could have gone into detail about the endless things that Davenport did to ruin my wedding day and just how they cut corners. About the only decent thing was the location Graham so I will give you that one! What gives you the right to question someones opinion? You are ignorant and the very response you have given, will only shed light into the type of people that potential clients will be dealing with at your venue! I do not really need to go in to detail, as you have portrayed Davenport in the arrogance they really have by not even allowing people to air their own personal views and experiences! Were you present at my wedding Graham? NO!! So what gives you the right to question my comments exactly? Whilst there are good reviews for Davenport (which is, by the way, why we booked the venue in the first place), there are other independent reviews on this website that back up what I have said!! Have you commented on those too?? I rest my case. By the way, you might like to invest in a dictionary when you choose to write such dumbfounded comments! Good day!

To Maverick888, I've went to see Davenport three weeks ago, and was very disappointed with the quality of service. The \"tour\" guide was completely useless, talking on her phone, quoting clearly made up on the spot prices. I'm very sorry to hear you've had unpleasant dealings with them. Having read your review, I will NOT be booking our wedding there! thank you very much for sharing your experiences. It is NOT even a 1 star venue. They are NOT even a legal venue. Such a shame. They should be ashamed of themselves, and close their business, rather than trading illegally.

Absolutely terrible! Our wedding day was completely ruined. The management were useless. Having spent two years planning our big day with three different event planners (oh yes, the turn over of staff is amazing at this place), we did not get what had asked and paid for. Please do not get suckered in to booking this venue when they show you the award they won for Four Weddings off the TV. The people that run this gorgeous venue are clueless, the will tell you they have a michelin star chef....iv had beeter food at a brewers fair..no lie. the food was wrong poor and half of the stuff wasnt given out at the buffet.

Held a wedding there in September 2010. Fabulous venue with magical views over the grounds for both the ceremony and photographs.
The Pavillion is very spacious and is well fitted out - only marquee I know of with picture windows over the surrounding countryside. The reception area is particularly attractive with new bar and chandaliers and deep pile carpet with external tiled decking beyond.
Ample parking and lovely gardens.
Very helpful and obliging staff.

We have pulled out of our wedding that was supposed to be taking place in October and gone to the Marriott. It is the best decision we have made! The management are terrible - although must add that the wedding planners are lovely especially Janet. Since pulling out we have heard other people's stories or suppliers who know of people who had bad experiences there. Under no circumstances would we recommend you book this venue! Having cancelled our wedding at Davenport Green Hall I would strongly advise you to clarify the status of the current planning application if booking a wedding in the Grand Pavillion (marquee). You may wish to do this with the venue and Trafford council. Due to concerns we had on this issue we felt we had no option but to cancel and lost a fairly significant deposit for which there was no offer of a refund. (read more)

As a guest at the wedding, (who did not stay over) I enjoyed the atmosphere, the setting and the picture settings (shame they could not do anything about the freezing weather outside) but once back inside with a nice glass of champers we all soon thawed out.
Lovely friendly staff. Had a great relaxing day.
