My New ID makeover went pretty well. I enjoyed being in the salon, the makeup was great, I was overwhelmed with how well they did my hair and the photoshoot was a really wonderful experience. The down sides to the day were that a large proportion of the time in the salon is spent waiting around for the staff t be available to do your hair, makeup and take your pictures and I had to wait over an hour to see the prints. The value I thought was very good as I only paid fifty pounds for the voucher and even though the prints are quite costly a lot of hard work goes into the makeover. I am not sure if they were short staffed the day I was there and that is why there was such a delay but I felt sorry because this was the only thing that let it down and that is the only thing that would stop me going again. I think if I did go again I would go during the week. The staff were very friendly despite being rushed off their feet and they all did a great job of my makeover and were very apologetic for the delay. The viewing session was unhurried and there was no hard sell. I would recommend this to anybody that has a good book they have been meaning to read and does not mind waiting around for a while.

I dragged my son into a makeover experience with New ID when he came back from spending two years overseas and was planning on going again and I was determined to have at least a bit picture of him staring down from me from the wall of my lounge if not a lovely picture of us together.
Richard was really not very impressed with the idea but after much nagging from me he eventually agreed to join me!
He tried just about every which way to get out of it on the day but by hook and by crook I got him there and he perked up when he was handed a glass of champagne on arriving.
He got a terrific hair cut as well as a moisturizing treatment that I was amazed he agreed to and looked suspiciously like he was actually starting to enjoy himself.
I was certainly was and loved the treatments, the hair stylist did a superb job of my hair and the make up artist did a wonderful job of my make up and my son even said how terrific I looked and I thought by that point he was looking forward to having some pictures taken for his old Mum!
We got into the photo shoot and Richard took on a whole new personality and totally hogged the camera, far from wanting to have pictures taken with me I had to fight him for time in front of the camera. The photographer was really great though and did get Richard to share some shots with me that turned out fantastically as did all of the shots of Richard who had been throwing himself around the studio acting quite the model. Richard ended up buying an entire CD of pictures of himself and I brought a beautiful one of me and him together as well as two small ones of me and two small ones of him. I think that's its great that you can have a CD or pictures, if you are going off to another country you can take the CD with you and have them printed off onto professional photopaper when you get there.
The picture of my son and I is my pride possession and I loved having the experience with my son, it is something I will never forget and even though it's a quite costly experience it is well worth the money

I chose New ID coz me mate had been and had her pictures done and every time I go to her place and look at them all over her walls it made me want to have mine done too but from what she told me I was a pit put off by the price, anyway this year a few of my family and a couple of good mates clubbed up together to get me the make over and give me some money to pay for the pictures with so I got to go and get my pictures done after all.
I want nervous at all when I went in, I thought that I might be not being the most outgoin person on the planet and I never having been in front of a camera like that at all I thought I might go to bits but I didn't.
When I got there I had totally no idea what was going to happen or what was going one, even though they had explained to me on the phone I had got it all twisted up in my mind. Needn't have fretted though because the woman on the till showed me around the place and got me a drink and then another woman came over and asked me what I wanted. Well a makeover I said but then she told me how you can go for this look or that look, well I had no idea what I wanted other than some pictures on my wall in my flat that looked as good as my mates! The woman gave me a load of books to look at so I could make me mind up but in the end I told them to just do what ever they thought would make me look the best because I had gone there for them to make me look like something new not something I come up with.
I had me hair cut, looked really good, bit shorter than I would have normally gone for but that was the whole point of going, to look different then I had my nails done, let them choose the colour and they put on a pale pink that matched the top I took along to have my pictures done in then had me make up done and that looked well nice.
Could not believe how fast the pictures were being taken it was like bang bang bang one after the other, I got myself in all sorts of different positions then when it came to looking at them I couldn't make my mind up, I think I got the person who showed them to me a bit flustard because I wanted to keep looking over and over and I think there were other people waiting but she wasn't rude or nothing.
I brought 4 pictures and me free one and now my mates want to get it done because both me and Trace have them in our flats and look ace on them. its not cheap but I think its worth it

I didnt find there to be any hard sell tactics when I went for my make over with New ID, far from it in fact, the guy that showed me all of the pictures went through them all with me in a very relaxed way and helped me pick out the ones I wanted, I certainly could not afford all of them but was extreemly happy with my choices and at no time felt under any kind of pressure to buy more than I could afford. One of two of them were really nice but showed my wrinkles up a bit, the guy did offer me a touch up job on them but I thought that option was a lot of money for what it was really so I stuck to the ones that looked good as they were. I was very happy with the service, the make over and the photographs and felt very comfortable at all times.

I was recently given a deluxe makeover photoshoot at New ID Studios for my birthday and have to say that having read a few of the reviews on this company I was little bit dubious about going but as it was a gift I had nothing to lose and I'm so glad I did. In fact I can't believe I've waited 30 years before doing something like this. If you need a pick me up or just a boost in confidence I would certainly recommend an afternoon at New ID. I still can't believe how special I felt after this experience. My only regret is that I did it by myself and I think it would have been a lot more fun if I had taken someone else with me.

Basically your time there is spent having your make up done, haircut (although think that might just be the deluxe makeover) and then having your pictures taken. I was particularly impressed with the make up girl as she spent a lot of time explaining exactly what she was doing and the best colours for my complexion. I know a lot of this was probably a sales pitch as all the products that they use are available to buy but I still went home with a lot of useful tips and hopefully now I can be a bit more adventurous when it comes to applying my own.

I was slightly disappointed with the haircut as it didn't really look much different to before but that's probably my own fault as I did say that I didn't want too much taking off and to be fair to the stylist this is what she did.

I also got very nervous about having my pictures taken and it took me a while to relax which unfortunately comes across in some of the early photos but once I got into, the results really were fabulous and that's from someone who normally hates having her photo taken. I'd put aside a maximum amount I'd wanted to spend on the photos and I must admit that I did succumb to the sales pitch and spent more than this but it's hard not to when the pictures looked so good.

I definitely wont be leaving it another 30 years before I go again!

I had my makeover at the Manchester branch in King Street and could not believe how different I looked on the photos, it was utterly unreal. I could not believe my eyes and it's really made me want to get into modeling. I have seen loads of pictures of celebrities without their make up on and figured they must be tampered with because nobody could look that different but now I know that even really plain people can look really stunning when you have the know how. I have never considered myself attractive really although I have been told I have nice eyes and good bone structure, but nothing could have prepared me for the gobsmacking difference that clever hair and make up can make, it is really unreal.
The experience itself was great fun, I was really nervous, the make over was a present from my mum and dad because I just got engaged and they paid upfront for the pictures because your money gets doubled to spend on the pics if you pay before you go. I was amazed how much my parents had spent but really have to say that it was so worth it and the work that goes into the make over and the results in the pictures that will last forever made whole thing totally worth while. I really expected to feel like the ugly duckling and expected all the staff to be like super model types and really glam and because you read so much about models being really obnoxious I really expected to feel totally out of place but I didn't at all. Even from the second I got into the salon it was so friendly and warm. I felt really comfortable being there and because of that I think all my nervousness just left me.
One of the really nice things was that I felt in control of what was going on at all times, you take your own clothes anyway so you can choose your favourite outfits, you know the ones that make you feel really comfortable and then you sit and have an interview before the session evens starts so from the outset you know exactly what is going on and you get to choose your look, what kind of hair and make up you want so its really you bringing the best out of yourself with experts getting you where you want to be. I really expected to not have a lot of say in it and imagined being given the once over and being told this that and the other, not at all.
Really loved my hair cut, so trendy, I had wanted a totally new look for my hair for a while but was unsure whether or not to take the plunge and I think it was really only because I felt so comfortable that I trusted the girl enough to say hey, this is the look I am after, yes it's a radical change but just go for it. I am so glad I did and felt totally confident even when my locks were falling to the floor.
Really impressed with the make up as well and I bought a few of the products they are really nice to use and not overly expensive. I got heaps of great advice on how to use the products to get different looks and it was all put down on a sheet to keep so you can refer back later and get the same look by yourself.
I had such a great day, the photos were amazing and I was quite surprised at myself as to how I got right into the swing of things in the photo session, it is a bit nerve wracking to start with but literally seconds in I was striking the pose and loving it. I can't believe looking back how nervous I was and how I had no reason to be at all. I really recommend New ID Manchester when you are looking for a new look in an environment that puts you at ease and especially because you get what you want and not what somebody else thinks you want. I think everybody should do this and even if you just pay for the session and get the free photo that comes with it, it's a great boost, a great way to get you to upgrade your look and a great way to spend a day. Loved every minute of it. Believe me there is no reason at all to be nervous!

I had a great experience at the Oxford Circus Branch and I had been close to cancelling my appointment after reading bad reviews about this company and really want to point out all of the reasons that I am very glad that I went. I am not sure how much difference it makes because I have never been on the weekend but I went on a Thursday pretty much had the place to myself and was not kept waiting at all during my make over. I was so impressed with the hair cut that I will be using them again next time I need my hair done. I find it really hard to get a stylist that does my hair exactly the way I like it and I will go back because this is one of the very few hair cuts I have had in my life that I am actually happy with!
Having already filled in a form about what I did and didn't want before I had my hair done as soon as it was done I went straight down to make up and I was again really delighted with it. I was walked through the products and decided to buy some lip gloss and that was all there was too it, I was certainly not pushed into buying anything else. The hand and nail treatment was not exactly extensive but I was happy with the result. I have had one or two manicures at other establishments that were very expensive and an hour after I left half the paint had chipped off or smudged due to layer upon layer of nail paint polish that clearly had not dried before the next coat was put on, the nail polish at New ID lasted for days.
I was very happy with my new and glamorous look and was really made to feel at ease by the photographer and it was great fun. I am not generally a nervous kind of person anyway but even I get a bit camera shy, I am not very photogenic well, I thought I wasn't until this experience anyway. I couldn't believe the results that I only waited about 15 minutes for. OK, the viewing room it has to be said is pretty small, but how much space do you actually need to look at photographs? Having read about heavy handed pushy hard sell I was dreading, or at least prepared for full scale battle over purchasing my pictures and was very pleasantly surprised to discover that nothing could have been further from the truth. I feel really annoyed that I had not put more money down in the first place because it gets doubled or rolled over as they call it and basically that is because I was expecting a nightmare thanks to what people have written about on review sites such as this one. Had I had more confidence I would have deposited enough to half the cost of the whole CD that I still bought because I was so impressed with the pictures I just ended up paying twice what I would have done.
I had an excellent experience and it bore no resemblance to any of the bad experiences I have read about and I highly recommend New ID. I can't speak for their other branches but Oxford Circus certainly has its act together. It's a nice studio; it's clean and well looked after. The staff are all friendly and polite and definitely not pushy. The cosmetics are great the photo session is great fun, the photos are high quality and OK they are not cheap but what is? If you want cheap go to a photo booth! Even that is like 4 quid and you don't even get a CD let alone a great experience and all the rest of it. My only advice is to pay as much as you can up front and double the money you have to spend on the day. In my experience I am happy to say I highly recommend New ID and having a make over really does make you feel great.
Has anybody else had a totally different experience from what they have read with this company?

I had a great time at new ID Manchester; I have written a review under that branch if anybody is interested I reading it. I think the whole experience was excellent and loved every minute of it. A lot of people on here seem to be complaining about the price but if you pay up front before you go the money you spend gets doubled so if you are clever about it you can pay enough up front to end up with the whole CD and only pay half of what it actually costs. I admit its not the cheapest way to spend a day but the photos will last forever and when you consider that the make over bit is actually more of a make up lesson and you learn how to recreate the look then you have even more to take away with you. If you went skydiving you would end up with a memory and its something that once its done its done, you cant do it again without paying for a course or something. With this kind of experience you have the pictures, you have more of an idea how to make yourself look good and that will last you a lifetime. I think its great fun, a real confidence booster and a great way to spend a day. The cosmetics are great too and believe me I have never been one to spend a fortune on cosmetics and moisturizers and stuff but they really do make a difference. I would recommend the Manchester branch to anybody as well as the experience, its well worth the money

Wow, I started using this site to rave about buying a DVD player and thought I would check the reviews for a make over company I have just used after finding shocking reports about them on another site and it's the same story here, I am amazed as I had a totally different experience with this company, admittedly I used the Birmingham branch, which doesn't seem to have as much written about it but all the same I find it hard to believe that such different service would be obtained at one branch from another, either that or this company have radically re structured their approach to customer service. I agree that buying the CD or lots of photos is pretty expensive but having said that the actual cost of the make over is so small considering the time you spend there and the amount of work involved to be totally transformed and then photo shot and the quality of the pictures you are buying I am amazed that people expect it to be so much cheaper. I know of other companies that my friends have used that have charged way more and the pictures were not great quality wise either. In my experience I got everything I expected to get (other than a bit sizzled on Bucks fizz for pre photo nerves) I got a great welcome from the receptionist, there were free drinks literally all day. I was really happy with my facial and the make up lady was really attentive and asked me all about my skin type before she started and gave me great hints and advice on how to sculpt the look of my face with make up, something I had never done before and Ok I have not managed to achieve quite the same effect as she did but I am really getting the hang of it and I am really happy with the results, everybody has noticed. I bought three of the products that have really transformed my previously fairly non existent make up regime and I now wear my hair down as the hairstylist turned a drag and tie up mess of hair into something I am now proud to wear down. Both were really friendly and put me at ease as did the photographer who I think pretty much straight away spotted that I am not the most photographically out going person and really got me into the swing of things, well OK. the Bucks Fizz helped, and I found his work to be really creative and honestly didn't actually recognize myself in a few of the shots and I had no idea that I could look that glamorous or how good it felt to be pampered and made to feel, well frankly, famous. Yes admittedly there was a bit of waiting around at times but I found the whole day fun, exciting as well as relaxing and was amazing utterly by the results. It seems to me that everybody is banging on about the price but for a pretty much once in a life time experience and for a lot of top quality photographs I really didn't find it that bad but perhaps I put a larger value on looking stunning than some of your other commenter's I don't know, but I had a great day, I loved how I looked and how I felt and really cant work out how I ended up with such a different experience, I certainly didn't feel pressured into buying more than I can afford, yes I was offered several different options but at no time did I feel bullied. I had a great day and am only glad that I didn't find all this negative press before hand as I would have missed out on what in my experience was a really terrific day

After reading all the reviews on the internet about the bad experiences people had before going I was a little worried about how the day was going to go. As my boyfriend had bought me the experience though I wasn't going to worry and decided to just see how it went. The day for me turned out to be excellent, I went on a saturday and although they were very busy I seemed to only have short waits inbetween my treatments.
My hair stylist seemed a little pushy on what he wanted to do with my hair (he wanted to cut it shorter than what I first wanted but went with the style I wanted) but after he had finished it looked really good and I have had compliments from all my friends and family since!
I thought the manicure could have been better all I got was a quick coat of paint but the professional make up was fantastic and the make-up artist talked me through what she was doing so I could try and recreate it at home!
I wasn't pressured into buying any of the products they used.
The actual photoshoot was really good and the photographer was really friendly and made me feel totally at ease.
The Pictures: The pictures looked amazing when we sat down to look at them, the sales lady tried to sell us some really expensive frames and books but when we explained we were students and could not afford much she lowered the prices and we bought a couple of extra photo's.
I am still waiting for my photo's to arrive but they state they can take anywhere up to 8 weeks (they normally arrive in 4) and I only had my makeover a week ago.
I would recommend that if you have been bought this experience go with an open mind and try not to think about all the negative things you have already read, the day is what you make it and I ended up having a fantastic time!
