Good Points: Very Warm. Zips do not snag. Fleece Lined.
Bad Points: Compression sack is not a compression sack.
General comments: I have got to start by saying that I know more about pig ' s trotters than I do about fishing. So if you ' re after a review from a fisherman that ' s been out in the JRC Fleece lined 4 season sleeping bag at 3am in December then sorry this is not the review you ' re looking for.
Bought two of these this year to take camping with the kids in wet Devon. Bought a couple of Down sleeping bags last year and found them to be a bit cold on clear nights with the stars out. So thought as these things said 4 season they would be warmer, and they are! The wife was very impressed. The outside reminds me of a Buffalo Motorbike jacket I used to own made of Cordura and looks so tuff it could stop a .50 cal round fired at point blank range. The zips, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel are big and chunky and did not get stuck or caught on the baffle once while we were away and opened very easily for an emergency wee at 04:00 after a skin-full of red wine and Strongbow.
Not sure about the ' water resistance ' of the bag as it seemed to soak in a few seam leaks that we had in the tent. May need a water repellent spray if you're going to use this without some kind of tarp or to keep the morning dew off. We did have a very wet week in Devon in late July early August so I won ' t go with the water resistance thing too far as the water did not make it to the core of the sleeping bag.
' Supplied in compression sack '. This is the only pitfall that I can find with this sleeping bag. The'compression sack'is made of the same material as the sleeping bag and has a draw cord/carry cord. There are no compression straps! The sleeping bag is quite large when rolled up compared to a normal camping sleeping bag. So if you own a not so Smart car and have the same build as Jeremy Clarkson, be prepared for a good nights sleep, because the sleeping bag is massive, but also be prepared to leave your flask and sandwiches at home because this beast will take up the passenger seat. I on the other hand own a top box which accommodated the sleeping bags without problem. Maybe just the odd kink in the car roof pillars. LOL. Joking aside this sleeping bag would easily fit on the back of a motorbike strapped down. Measures 14" dia by 19" long rolled up.
For the price, this sleeping bag is a bargain and provides the occupant with a glorious nights sleep. The benefits if you have young children are that they can jump in with you in the morning. Not such a good idea when you've got the breath of a thousand wildebeest, having drunk a skin-full of red wine and Strongbow the night before. Compared to an old Down MOD sleeping bag which my eldest son uses I think the JRC is possibly warmer and simpler to get out of but is less water proof. Don't let any of my negatives put you off, just buy one.
Thanks TackleUK.co.uk for a fast delivery and easy transaction. Very much appreciated.
Not so much thanks to the BBC and MET Office which said the Azores High was coming, booked the holiday and suddenly we had the Atlantic wind and more rain than Noah and his Ark got in forty days and forty nights.
