Good Points: Fantastic variety of powerful, memorable songs.
    Excellent, poetic storytelling lyrics.
    A great singer.
    Great songs.

Bad Points: Maybe they should have re-arranged the track-listing of the album slightly to lessen the urge to skip some of the slower, melancholic songs that take time to appreciate. Tracks 5 to 9 would have benefited being separated out a bit more from each other, in my opinion.

    General comments:
Elbow,The Seldom Seen Kid is a masterpiece of poetic emotion and songcraft.
The summery feel on 'Bones of You' accessible to everyone who listens. 'Mirrorball'is a soothing gem of a ballad. 'Grounds For Divorce' is a rollicking beast of a bluesy rock anthem. 'One Day Like This' possibly the modern equivalent of 'Hey Jude' without wanting to sound too OTT. Their hard work over the past 17 or so years has culminated in this, their most critical and commercially acclaimed release.

Elbow's The Seldom Seen Kid features a good choice of instruments, interesting song structure, lyrics are always poetic and moving but sometimes poetry is a bit overblown. I hadn't heard of Elbow until I saw them live last summer in Seattle. Wow, what a show. Most of what they played live was from this, the most recent album. I borrowed everything they've made from a friend, and this is, in my opinion, their best record yet.
