Unbelievably the same experience as below comments!! I had a lesson booked, it was later cancelled as the Instructor was 'out of the country'. When i did have a lesson with another Instructor there wasn't alot of feedback and i was told i should have some more lessons to get to know the area better as i could be asked to get to a destination only by following road signs. I later found out that this could and might only happen starting October 2010, so there was no way that this could apply to me.
I have now passed my test with BSM as recommended and i don't think you can beat them! They are all fully qualified unlike some..

Red themselves are very friendly, but that could be because they want your money. When it comes to complaints they are totally unhelpful.

my instuctor BILL EDMUNDS said he would put my test date in his diary. He never did. He never returned my calls and texts and said he was "out of the country" and never got ANY of them. I missed my test because of that.

The instructors do what they like cos 1) they are only franchised. Red has no control over them and 2) they have their own managers who ofte ...

i was let down by my instructor on numerous occasions and he didnt turn up for my lesson 2 days before my test, when i called him he told me that he had to leave the country on an emergency, red never contacted me to rearrange another instructor, i met my new one 2 hours before my test and felt very let down as my instructor that id been using for 3 months hadnt even shown me under the bonnet or shown me the tread on tyres, needless to say i failed, my mother called to complain on the same day ...

I am writing this review in the hope of warning others considering using RED driving school in order to pass their driving test. At first all was going well and my abilities at driving were improving. However, week before my exam I found out that instructor has had to leave the country for 2 months and I am left without an instructor. RED made little effort to contact except a garbled message on my phone. After finding out and talking to RED, they effectively told me it was my fault because I ha ...

I have only just turned 18 and I started my lessons at the start of august. its now the middle of oct and I am not satisfied. I have spent a large amount of money with this company! To begin with i booked my first lesson and was sent a confirmation letter with the date and time of my lesson. She was a NO show! I then wrote an email to Red explaining my annoyance and they said they would find out what happened. I was palmed off with an excuse.. she lost her phone and lost my details... this shoul ...

Don't even think about going with red. I booked a refresher lesson cos I hadn't driven in 6 years and the first thing the instructor told me was that my driving was "atrocious" and the rest of the lesson was along similar lines. Despite legally being able to drive, I left the lesson never wanting to again. The instructor was unprofessional and rude and I have put in an official complaint about him; but have not heard back...surprise surprise!!!

Since then, I have bought a car and spent 20 mi ...

Passed part one without help from RED Driving School as they would not reply, part two in car training, good instructor, problem is lessons are to far apart, and you wait to see how long they take to get you a part two test, they offer the world but fob you off.
Keep hold of your money! or go to or go to a proper organised company that are not just set up to take your money.

IT takes to long to book the lessons at RED driving school and i think they are overcrowding areas with instructorss they also dont explain enough how hard it is to pass part 3

I am Training to be a dirving instructor with RED. I can hold my hands up and say that so far they have been good to me. I have help and support whenever i need it, and am glad to say there are plenty of instructors around my way to help me qualify. I fel confident that i wil pass first time and i vow to be a punctual, well motivated, supportive instructor in the cheltenham area.

Give them a chance guys, they are still a relatively new company :)

i have recently became a customer with red driving. The instructor is very helpful making you feel at ease also i learned more in my first lesson with red than i did in all my other lessons put together. Also when you join the course they send you a confirmation letter with your instructors details on it and the instructor phones you immediatly to give there number aswell. They have always been on time and spend more time driving and explain manouvers and stuff till you aknowledge what they are say ...

I am a driving instructor in training with RED. So far I have coughed up over £3600, for the privilege. So far they have sent me training books, (all part one) is self learn and when you think you are ready you apply to the "DSA" to take the Highway Code and Hazard perception test " £80", if you pass you get the " £80 back, fail and the next you pay yourself and so on... The second stage "driving" they say, learn around your present job, "A joke", you learn around their availa ...

After 45 lessons I had a mock test and he said I'd failed. It was raining and he gave me a serious error for driving 27mph in a 30 mph maximum area. He wanted me to cancel my test due in 10 days. I drive with family every day and have clocked up about 500 miles. When I said I wanted to take the test anyway he said it was his reputation at stake. (MY MONEY!). He's never written a single comment on my card about progress and knocked my confidence. Needless to say I've dropped the Red driving instr ...

Red Driving school, what a complete waste of money and time its was. i first booked beacuse i saw the special offer on the website and when called the HQ they so eager to get me to join i thought why not. but with some experiance with driving instructors previously i knew what i was looking for. when i asked for a ADI whith the highest grade HQ told me the instructor was one of the most experienced. first he was 1/2 hour late and then i find out he is not even ADI let alone highest grade. he was ...

This is from my earlier rant - about clutch control, and the selfish money-grabbing beep beep beeps. Last one I will be posting. They took over £1000 off me (at £22 a lesson) and I am still driving - except with a qualified instructor who has been driving for around 27 years and she really is brilliant! Complete difference. If RED are supposed to be professional, supportive etc like the other reviewers have said, then how did he take all that money off me, me getting nowhere...

Well first of all I had been doing, well really badly when I first started out with Red Driving School and then all of a sudden overnight, I was brilliant. I could never had proper clutch control at all (a complete noob) and I seemed to learn it overnight! Funny I thought. A few weeks into it I was told that I can go ahead and book the test. I wanted to leave it til the next week just to make sure and then I am told by the same instructor that I should leave it another few weeks. I was told when ...

My RED Driving School instructor is always on time and because I was a bit nervous at first he was very supportive and did not pressure me at all. I have now had 22 hours with him and he has transformed me into a confident driver with every prospect of passing first time.
