    Good Points: cheap

Bad Points: can burn holes in wool garments

General comments: I have just ruined over £40 worth of brand new lambs wool jumpers, thanks to Stain Devils Tea, Red Wine, Fruit and Juice remover. It says not to use on leather, suede, Acetate/Rayon, carpets or upholstery. There are no warnings not to use on Wool. Despite using exactly as directed, it not only bleached out the colour, but disintegrated the wool completely too. There was no where inconpicuous to test it first as there were no seams, so I had to just go for it. I complained of course and sent them the clothes, along with the remover I used, in case it was a rogue batch, but they have just returned them, telling me that if there are no inconspicuous areas then I continued at my own risk. They also say that it is ' fine to use on wool garments unless the care label states otherwise' . My wool jumpers' care labels say they are machine washable and that Biological detergents or those containing bleach will seriously damage wool. I use Woolite to wash all wool garments in. I now see that in tiny letters on the back of Stain Devils it says 15-30% Oxygen based Bleaching agent, but is that the same as actual bleach??? Obviously I failed to make the connection,. I though oxygen based bleach was somehow different from stuff in your bleach bottle. In my opinion their labelling should carry a warning about Wool.My Stain Devils is going straight in the bin.

I cannot praise this product enough, Stain Devils gets used weekly in my household to remove tea, coffee and red wine stains from clothes. I usually use a whole bottle in a bucket of warm water and leave the items soaking for a few hours or over night.
Only available in small bottles... shame.
