Very pleased to find an alternative for Quicken, which I loved and used for years. Realised if I wanted to move on from XP I had to find a new accounts package, and most of the ones I trialled were awful, very clumsy and un-user friendly. Finally came across BankTree and am happy with it. Easy to set up and use, with plenty of helpful advice...

I have been using Banktree from My home accounts for the last 5 years. I have found the software always easy to use and pickup. I am 75 and dont always get things the first time around so do need a little help. I had a problem with the downloads with my investments last week, after contacting the support team my problem was resolved. I have used other packages in the past but have not got such friendly or useful support. Thanks review center for letting me use your website to write about this software....

I have been using BankTree for about a year now for my person accounts. After using another package I find I make less mistakes on BankTree and can find where they are more easily. So far I only track my Current Account but intend to incorporate my Savings accounts now I am getting used to it. With all my income and outgoings recorded in planned transactions I find the ability to see future balances very useful in making budgeting decisions. Keep it going G ;)...

I have been using BankTree for a few weeks after a long time user of Quicken. So far so good, the product is different then Quicken but the change over was quite intuitive. Support are always very helpful and answer any queries very quickly. I like the simple interface, I can import my accounts from my bank, and deal with my investments without a fuss. I would recommend 100%...

As an avid fan of MS Money and having looked at Quicken we find neither support us here in the UK. It is refreshing to see BankTree is a UK based product. It is easy to use once you get used to the layout seamlessly does what it is supposed to and tracks my portfolio. Support is first rate as queries and question are answered in minutes. How many of us can say that of US software companies? I hope that the developers go from strength to strength and continue to evolve this superb product. I am sure...

I have looked at a number of packages and find banktree to be one of the best products I have looked at. Its easy to use without any messing about. I like the simple interface and the screens are easy to use. I have already told by sister about this product and she was thrilled as much as I was....

I disagree with the previous comments about Investments. I have recently tired BankTree after using Microsoft Money for many years. I had to switch to Banktree when the investment updates no longer worked in ms money. I am able to use the investment feature in Banktree very easily to manager a number of portfolios I have. All you have to do is select a data source provider, Banktree were good at providing a few so you can pick which one is the most appropriate, you then have to find the stock code...

For someone wishing to do little more than track their bank accounts, budget their expenditure and keep a record of where their cash is going, Banktree is probably adequate for their purpose and fairly easy to us. For for anyone hoping for more sophistication such as keeping a record of share investments, accurate current valuations and tabs on their wealth, I've found the program to be next to impossible to use. I've had years of experience with Quicken and MS Money - both of which were superb,...

You can always go back to Quicken or Ms Money...
Microsoft and Quicken both left the UK market because it was not financially feasble to continue supporting their products. Specially due to providing automated data feeds from their banks, credit card companies and other financial service providers for investments.
WE do not compare to be a Quicken or MS Money.
We have updated the Help file recently specially the Invesment section.
We have managed to provide investment updates for a number of financial institutions for a remarkable one of price of £24.50.

I downloaded the trial package a few days ago. After a couple of hours I decided the buy the software. I have looked at a number of other packages and banktree is the most easiest to use. I did have a question about my account balances, support were very helpful telling me how I can reconcile my transactions to showing my up to date account balances. Excellent, great value for money....

So far I am quite pleased with the software. It basically does everything I want it to. The layout is clear and easy to use. I can add transactions both manually and by importing them from bank. I can also add my direct debits and go to know what my out goings are. I would recommend this product. Thanks Banktree!...

Having only being using it for just a few days, first impressions are very good, it is very user friendly, easy to navigate and I find the Help screens very useful although being a non accountant there are some help topics which I struggled to understand. Previously used Quicken for many years and have found Banktree much more flexible enabling me to input and see the data as I want to see it. Also like the support emails....

I was looking for software to replace Quicken which I had used for years, but finally would not work under 64bit Windows 7. After looking at reviews and downloading a trial version of Bank Tree I came to the conclusion that, although it was not perfect, it was probably the best alternative. I was wrong. The whole approach is far too clunky and the search facility simply does not work. On numerous occasions I have entered data only to find it has disappeared; when I have tried to search for the amount...

We do not regard this review a fair use of the software. The search facility is to search for details of the transaction - if there is a date filter restricting the details of the search then obviously you will not see any records returned. If you have made sure you are not applying any filters restricting your view then you would be able to see all your records.

I used Quicken before they abandoned the UK market and then MS Money and on upgrading my computer I found that it doesn't work on Windows 7 and the sunset version is US centric. Let's see if this software survives! I have used it for a couple of weeks and it is OK but not as good as either of the previous programs I used. The balancing function is really a reconcilliation rather than a balance as you can't input the value of your current statement balance so you have to check after the event on...

I was a user of Microsoft Money for many years, but it would no longer load on my new laptop, so I was concerned about finding some simple and straightford personal finance software to manage my household accounts. BankTree was recommended by Which? and I have not been disappointed as it meets all my requirements....

Firstly it was looking great, I tried the trial, but then upgraded due to the trial limitations. From this point onwards, it went down hill. The Scheduled transactions do not work properly, and the reporting is not as broad as I had hoped. Since it didn't seem to work properly, I asked for a refund; They blindly refused. I found this software after seeing it on which.co.uk, although I wish I hadn't. Verdict: Avoid at all costs......

The support team were not given sufficient information to address the problem the user was having. If you make an unfounded claim the software does not work but can not provide any information about what the problem is, hardly the fault of the support team.

Update from customer
"Hello,
I just wanted to apologise for the dispute. After getting my PC back from being repaired, they said that my motherboard was faulty and it was just a coincidence that my PC died whilst un-installing your software. I've now re-installed it to give it another chance and it seems to be working well. The scheduled payments seem to behave not as expected, but if I just add the transactions manually it seems to work fine!
Kind Regards"
Thanks for the update

I have been using MS Money very successfully for the past 10 years but have been looking for a replacement now that Microsoft appear to have abandoned this product and its users. I found Banktree via a Google search and so far I have been very impressed. It appears in many ways to be quite to similar to MS Money yet in other ways very different. I think that once I become more familiar with its functions I may actually prefer it. I shall thoroughly test that it suits all my needs and hopefully look...

I also have used Quicken since 2004 and lost it recently after my Hard Disc crashed. Again after searching the net and a positive review by Which I downloaded Bank Tree. Within 2 days I am back up and running with this superb, contemporary looking and user friendly personal finance package. It has a very good Help page with screen shots so is very easy to pick up and negotiate. I would highly recommend it as it is great value for money as well. There is a useful video on their website by miss download....

Since 2002 I've been using Quicken, which last week failed after being hit by a virus. Whilst searching the net I came across the Which review and decided to try the 14-fay free-trial of BankTree. I have regrettably bought the full version for £26 .It is a lot easier to stick with Microsoft Money Sunset, this is free and much easier to use. Banktree has limited functionality and does not display transactions in sequence but clumps them together in income and expenses catorgories and there is no way to change this setting in options. If you need an alternative Ace Money looks better value and has better graphs and more functionality. Stick with Microsoft and save time!!!! ...

Quite a nice package, reasonably priced, room for improvement. Disappointed with the Report function which I expected to be capable of showing (e.g.) ALL (specified) RECONCILED transactions, but it wont if any reconciled transaction contains "allocated items" (e.g. a net salary payment allocated to Gross Pay, Tax and NI). It would help if there was an indicator showing whether the screen is displaying cleared or reconciled or all accounts...

On the View menu the user can select the type of transactions that are being viewed. There is tick next to the selected option. (Cleared Funds, Reconciled Funds and All Funds).

This doesn't seem to be a bad program, but I did not get any further than trying to copy across my MS Money data. Quite simply the developers should have provided an MS Money data import facility, which would have encouraged the numerous people who have been let down by Microsoft. But they haven't so it is easier to continue to use my old MS Money software and update my portfolio prices manually....

It seems a bit unfair to blame the BankTree developers for not being able to import Ms Money data using the import routine. The import routine will import QIF and OFX file formats. Ms Money (MNY) formats can not be supported as is mentioned on the banktree.co.uk website as Microsoft own the intelectual property rights to their own data format - and will not release this this to anyone, unless they are mega rich like Inuit!

I have used Quicken since 1994, support was discontinued in 2004 and I searched for a replacement when I moved over to Windows 7. BankTree is very easy to use, not as flexible as Quicken but entirely suitable for my needs as a home based financial tool. I still have to get used to the reporting functions but I am coming to the end of my first month. I was able to import some items from Quicken but in the end preferred to set up my own database from scratch. Reporting Functions allow one to...

With the demise of Microsoft Money (MM) I was looking for a replacement. I had high expectations when I downloaded BankTree but disappointed on the limited functionality and well as the quality and flexibility of the charts. There is a big difference if you are used to MM. I also had a few questions regarding categories. It seemed strange that a parent category (e.g Household) doesn't total all the sub-categories (e.g Household Maintenance)if you just want a summary of all your expenditure. The...

BankTree claim to respond to requests for product support within 24 hours. At the time I wanted help, it was non existent. Their phone was on auto answer and did not have a facility for voice mail so I couldn ' t leave a message. The impression I am left with is that the operation may be run by a person or persons lacking in skills required to run a business offering a fast and efficient service. Had I discovered this before purchasing the software programme, which is a good one, I would have saved...

We do provide free email support, and will provide a response within 24 hours sometimes sooner. The telephone line is not for support - as support questions tend to be technical and would require further information which will need to be provided in an email.
