“Best Software buy”

Written on: 04/04/2015 by Sophieh326 (1 review written)

Software does what I expected it to. It was easy to set up and create all my credit card/ISAs/pension/mortgage accounts and set up the categories and schedule transfers between them that match our bank statements. Importing worked well from all accounts, picking custom fields from a csv file on import and allowing manual mapping was nice. The reports are excellent and the pretty charts a bonus :)… Read Full Review

“ Absolutely everything we wanted”

Written on: 21/03/2015 by Elena227 (1 review written)

Marvellous! I bought version 3 of the software almost immediately after a 1 day trial. Loved the ease at which I could import version 2 files. Cloud facility is a bonus for enabling two separate computers to access the same files - better than networking, as they don't even have to be in the same building… Read Full Review

“Disappointed”

Written on: 11/03/2015 by 463Moss (1 review written)

I thought I had found the natural successor the 'Money'. I ran the programme for a full year and persisted in trying to use all its facilities. In the end I gave up because I still could not enter my stocks and shares and the help/advice was really no help. My conclusion is that this is a clever piece of kit written by accountants for accountants but that is not me!… Read Full Review

Please view the online tutorial on how to use investments in v3.0 of the software.

Obtaining security prices for your selected shares is dependant on mainly two factors.

1) The availability of the information on the external data feed website you have selected - this may or may not populate the security.

2) The use of firewalls and antivirus software that prevents our software from connecting to the website to obtain the price information - an aggressive firewall will block our software (specially Norton)

Neither of these problems are related to our software.

“Excellent replacement for MS Money”

Written on: 25/04/2013 by laceby1 (1 review written)

I used MS Money for a long while and when it was stopped I tried their new version which I did not like. I have tried several other makes which were of a poor quality, then used my spreadsheet until I found Bank tree. This I like very much and it is similar to MS Money but just a bit better. A very good buy for the price and so easy to use… Read Full Review

“Recommended but not unreservedly. Probs with...”

Written on: 06/04/2013 by Bseaboy (1 review written)

Like many others I have migrated from Quicken which served me well, both with club accounts, where categories were required, and my personal finance where they are not. Windows 8 seemed to put paid to Quicken. My main problem is with downloading from my online bank. Quicken had a 'download' button which would take me straight to my bank, I'd go through the download process, then up would come a 'match' screen for me to tick off against my existing entries on Quicken or add in new entries. A… Read Full Review

When you download / import your bank details for the months concerned on the import screen check the option for check duplicates. This will then check the date and amount for the existing transactions. It will give you the option of importing the record or not. You will probably have both the schedule transactions and the imported records for the same transaction you need to delete the imported record. keeping a single record for each transaction.

“Has Bank Tree been hijacked? ”

Written on: 29/03/2013 by niglov (1 review written)

I have been running Bank Tree now for several years without problem and it has done everything I needed to track several accounts. Today I asked it to check for an update and my virus program Bitdefender blocked the webpage as "unsafe". It does thesame for any page from the domain www.banktree.co.uk Not Good!!… Read Full Review

If you are having problem with accessing the banktree website you need to contact bitdefender for blocking the website. If we had the full Bitdefender product name you are using version etc we are quite happy to contact them on your behalf.

We have run extensite antivirus and anti-malware on the banktree domain and ALL software that is available for download. And have not found any problems.

“It's really frustrating”

Written on: 18/01/2013

I did have Quicken but it is not compatible with Windows 7 so I tried Bank Tree 2.0 and it drives me mad. It is unsophisticated and the 'schedules' facility is particularly annoying. Past reconciled transactions are not protected and if you change a direct debit without thoroughly understanding the system that direct debit is projected backwards and can completely upset the whole account. I have just spent 3 days trying to sort out my 2 accounts and I am tearing my hair out. When… Read Full Review

Have you tried contacting the support team ?

Amending a scheduled item would protect the existing reconciled entries - however if you deleted the schedule item and then created a new one it would obviously create the schedule transactions from the start date of the schedule item, which would affect historical entries.

“I am very pleased with BankTree”

Written on: 15/03/2012

Very pleased to find an alternative for Quicken, which I loved and used for years. Realised if I wanted to move on from XP I had to find a new accounts package, and most of the ones I trialled were awful, very clumsy and un-user friendly. Finally came across BankTree and am happy with it. Easy to set up and use, with plenty of helpful advice… Read Full Review

“Good to see a UK product getting so many good reviews!”

I have been using BankTree for a few weeks after a long time user of Quicken. So far so good, the product is different then Quicken but the change over was quite intuitive. Support are always very helpful and answer any queries very quickly. I like the simple interface, I can import my accounts from my bank, and deal with my investments without a fuss. As an avid fan of MS Money and having looked at Quicken we find neither support us here in the UK. It is refreshing to see BankTree is a UK based product. It is easy to use once you get used to the layout seamlessly does what it is supposed to and tracks my portfolio. Support is first rate as queries and question are answered in minutes. How many of us can say that of US software companies? I hope that the developers go from strength to strength and continue to evolve this superb product. I am… Read Full Review

“Investments are very easy to use”

Written on: 10/02/2012

I disagree with the previous comments about Investments. I have recently tired BankTree after using Microsoft Money for many years. I had to switch to Banktree when the investment updates no longer worked in ms money. I am able to use the investment feature in Banktree very easily to manager a number of portfolios I have. All you have to do is select a data source provider, Banktree were good at providing a few so you can pick which one is the most appropriate, you then have to find the stock… Read Full Review

“Banktree for investment and wealth management.”

Written on: 10/02/2012

For someone wishing to do little more than track their bank accounts, budget their expenditure and keep a record of where their cash is going, Banktree is probably adequate for their purpose and fairly easy to us. For for anyone hoping for more sophistication such as keeping a record of share investments, accurate current valuations and tabs on their wealth, I've found the program to be next to impossible to use. I've had years of experience with Quicken and MS Money - both of which were… Read Full Review

You can always go back to Quicken or Ms Money...

Microsoft and Quicken both left the UK market because it was not financially feasble to continue supporting their products. Specially due to providing automated data feeds from their banks, credit card companies and other financial service providers for investments.

WE do not compare to be a Quicken or MS Money.

We have updated the Help file recently specially the Invesment section.

We have managed to provide investment updates for a number of financial institutions for a remarkable one of price of £24.50.

The program is quite adequate for dealing with bank and credit card accounts but when it comes to accounting correctly for investments held in a collective fund such as a self administered ISA it is lacking.

Having been in contact with their help desk I hope they will take these lessons to heart and develop their application to properly account for investments.

Incidentally it does not cost £24.50 but £24.50 + VAT
