popped in for a pub lunch for the first time last week, and got more than i expected, being vegeterian i the choice of food is normally limited to a frozen vegi burger or similar, but i had a choice of home made meals here i went for the baked parsnip and pear cheesecake and it was lovely, my friend had the venison burger, which they call the unrivalled burger, not suprised it looked amazing with chunky hand cut chips, and my friend loved it. I then got my arm twisted into having the chocolate and baileys panacotta for desert very naughty but very nice. All in all good service, good food and good value i will be back

“Simply awful”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 06/01/2012

A party of us went here over the festive period, a number of which hadn't eaten here before. We were very upset at the quality of food that was delivered to our table. Never again will I or our friends who were dining with us that evening go to this establishment again. The service to the table was good but when we did complain about the food, nothing was done about it at all. We have been going to this place for the past 6-7 years but have to say that things on the food front seem to be on the decline!

I was persuaded to go here again the other nit with a couple of friends and I have to say that this time the food was delicious. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection and so my faith has been restored. :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in The Three Horseshoes at North Cove. The food was freshly cooked and inventive - I had chicken with fresh (local) figs, which was delicious, and my husband had a salad which he declared to be "as good as the ones you get in France". The service was friendly and attentive, you got the feeling they really cared whether you enjoyed your food or not. The pub is a lovely old one, it has obviously been subject to 'modernisation' at some point in the past, though. I would recommend this to anyone - it makes a real change from 'pub grub' and is worth a drive into the country for, especially if you are staying somewhere like Southwold. You need to book a table in the summer.

Don't be fooled, this is a traditional looking pub with a modern twist. The food is exceptional, (a little pricey for a pub)!!!! But the service & atmosphere make for a perfect night out. Carl & Rich we love you. I'll miss you.XXX

We are very particular where we eat and are always on the lookout for nice places - well - We have found it here.

The place is lovely, staff very joval and friendly - a very relaxing place.

The food - well - it's to die for - I could not fault one bit - there was plenty and fantastic quality.

All the other customers seemed to be enjoying the experiance.

Well what can I say. We have recently visited North Cove on holiday (5 adults and 2 children in our party). Before the holiday I read the reviews for the Three Horseshoes in North Cove as it was our nearest pub. Because of the bad reviews we were not going to visit but on one night we felt that we should make up our own minds. What a good job, the food was excellent as well as the service we received. We were made very welcome and would have no hesitation to visit it again or recommend it to fellow holidaymakers. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.

We like to see a landlady or even landlord, but they were upstairs. The food is very much overrated for a PUB. It's not owned by gordon ramsey. £10 for a burger is outrageous, chips were awful and we didn't have our veg. Asked for gravy and heard the chef moaning. Terrible all round. Stay clear

Nice ambiance, good service, but I must have picked the wrong meal the night I visited. Over £11 pounds for a burger (included a sauce). The chips where from frozen (I guess not very local) and the sauce was needed to flavour the burger. Homemade burger but the beef should have been a better cut for the mince, too grissly and I ended up removing the affending pieces from the burger befor I could finish the meat.

“today we ate at this pub and after having a bad meal...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/10/2009

today we ate at this pub and after having a bad meal there before we stayed clear but as it is now under new management we decided to give it another go

it was a meal for 8 on a sunday afternoon we had booked the table in advance as it was a 19th birthday party, after ordering our drinks we were seated in the back part of the restaurant which was very dimly lit, but it is oct so not much sunlight coming in from the window, we ordered 6 main roast dinners a child's meal and a sandwich, after about 20mins our meals came out and we sat and waited and waited but still no vegetables were bought out for the 6 roast dinners so after eating my spuds as they were going soggy as the meat had been stacked on top of it i went to the bar and asked if the roast dinners still came with veg so after more of a wait we all got a portion of veg i did ask for extra gravy in an attempt to warm up the meals with not much luck. after the main corse we waited to see the desert menu and after about a 15-20 min wait i went to the bar and found the menu my self and at the same the waitress came with them, after ordering 7 deserts we waited and waited ordered another round of drinks and 2 coffees after these were all drunk still no deserts at the point were we were deciding to leave as our deserts came out, when ordering the coffees i asked if there was cream available to find out there wasnt but was served cream with some of the deserts

after the large bill for way over £150 was paid we left, we were seated as soon as we arrived and left after 2 hrs later only eating 2 courses, as we walked out we over heard a table of 4 moaning how horrid there meals were and after leaving one of our party members mentioned that they heard the chef moaning to someone "why did they but those fing commoners down the back end" we did have a well behaved 4 year old and it was a birthday party for the family so we did chat and have a little banter but there were only about 3 other tables in use and none in the room we were in. well needless to say we wont ever be going back again which is a shame as we had been using the restaurant for many years for each special occasion we had before it went down hill
