The size guide is pretty much useless as everything is either too big or too small, the prices are way above average for cheaply made clothing which is uncomfortable to wear and the customer service is a joke! I bought a £60 jacket (Size L) from the Hollister website and I paid £10 for delivery. The jacket was way too small so I used the speed exchange option on the website which clearly states they would ship the "replacement merchandise to you at no cost for shipping". Instead I was charged another £10 for delivery and deducted £9 for exchanging the jacket. When the replacement finally arrived after 10 days it was too big even though I had only gone up one size and the previous one seemed to be made for a child. So I returned it and was charged another £9 for that. I contacted customer service and they didn't reply for two weeks, when they finally got in touch I was promised a refund of the two £9 charges within the month. A month later I had still received no refund and the customer service has never responded to any further emails sent by me. All in all, I'm out £28 for nothing.

Hollister is quite an experience. You go in, feel slightly sorry for the male model by the shop door - clearly there for the purpose of putting up gawking teenage girls (why don't they have female models, would that be sexist?) Then when you go in, you can't see anything really. I don't know why a chain thinks that its a good idea to have clothes that you have to squint at and hold up to the sparse lamps to see if they're nice. You'd think that they didn't want you to buy their product. The staff (at the Cardiff branch anyway) did an excellent job of making me feel uncomfortable and like I shouldn't be there. I'm not an old woman I'm in my early twenties and I can fit into the clothes they sell so their dismissive and up themselves attitudes was quite beguiling. They all looked like someone had just murdered their parents and I was the prime suspect, maybe its not being able to see anything that makes them so miserable. The actual clothes themselves were all right. Nowhere near worth the price they're selling for though, not when its just tee shirts and denim shorts.

I bought a cream cardigan for £40 from the Norwich store, after the first wash (at 30 degrees) the colour went patchy, we complained in store but the manager refused to leave his mood lit store to look and fobbed me off with a complaints email address, i tried this but no got reply, and found another on their website. I emailed this and got a reply asking for more info, after sending 3 more emails with attached images, which were replied to, all we got was a refusal to overule the store manager and a phone number in the usa that wasnt answered. It seems to me Hollister are buying very cheap clothes in China and selling them in the uk at a huge mark up with no regard to their customers, of which i am no longer one. I would have been better shopping in Primart.
