I think I spent a week reading expert reviews and doing research before finally settling for the Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000. I was not disappointed and continue to enjoy it each day.

One of the big worries I had was watching sport and seeing the image tearing like I had seen on other TVs. I have only been impressed and it's a pleasure to watch sport on this TV. Obviously the quality of the source is important and there is only so much a TV can do to convert from an interlaced signal to a progressive image. Now and then you will pick this up, for example watching golf and the typical ball against sky shot, the ball can appear in two places at once when the camera is shaky. Having done my research I can appreciate that this problem is virtually impossible to solve for every possible case.

Switch the source to HD and there is just no comparison. It is absolutely stunning and often I pause a Blu-ray to marvel up close at the level of detail provided in the image. I find myself amazed even now, a year later. I love this TV and am very content with it.

It also provides a great image with the computer, but I'm not sure if it is full HD in that mode, but I haven't tested this fully yet.

The sound lacks bass, but it does the job. If you like bigger sound you'll need to get a separate sound system. I wouldn't be surprised if most flat/thin TVs suffer from this problem, since woofer speakers need more room to produce convincing deep notes.

I've found the remote can be a little touchy sometimes and I end up selecting the wrong thing and need to go back and try again.

This TV has plenty of connections, more than I need and lots of useful features and is very configurable (I like having the choice to tweek most stuff.)

It's probably not the cheapest, but the feel of quality and reassurance is worth it. I highly recommend this TV.
