I can't fault the Briggs and stratton engine and it does cuts very evenly.... very good when set high enough to clear bumps and chops through absolutely anything but when set low it catches all the time. Power drive gutless (you have to push up the smallest of inclines) and the welding on the rear axle/height adjustment bar has broken after just over a year(by 1day!) making it unusable. Grass box difficult to fit/take off and doesn't fill properly. No height adjustment for handles (bolt... (read more)

As others have pointed out this machine is not worth buying. Very poor design with skirt too low so the machine catches on the ground. Height controls are poor flimsy bits of metal which constantly change when you bare not looking. Self drive failed in less than 1 year. In summary this machine is total rubbish - do they test these or just dish up poor design and poor manufacture with a log on? Go elesewhere I'd give this no stars (read more)

flymo quicksilver has a wide cut , big box and a good, easy starting Briggs engine but the skirt clearance is poorly designed, it is fine on level ground but it catches on uneven ground, lifting the rear wheels and losing the drive . The cut-height levers are poor , flimsy and unreliable. Pity, as it is basically a solid machine otherwise. The faults are annoying, making it unpleasant to use. I won't be buying another of these. The Flymo Quicksilver 5145HW mower looks good and has a large grass box. It always started easily but had no speed control so you had to keep up with it when using it in self propelled mode. The deck is low to the ground at the front so any bumps in the lawn made it catch. You also had to push it forwards before the rear drive wheels would free to enable the mower to be pulled backwards, which is a real nuisance when you came up against a fence etc. I only had mower for 10 weeks when the... Drive broken (clutch perhaps?) so no longer self propells and its only just over 1 year old!. Does not cut very low either. I would not buy same make again. i guess i have to buy a new petrol mower now as i dont think a repair is worth while on a machine that i have never been realy happy with anyway! (read more)
