“Was very happy until..............”

Written on: 14/05/2012 by carolB123 (13 reviews written)

I was very happy with my machine. Very quite and washes really well.I had this machine delivered on 2nd May 2012 and up and running within 2 hours. Tried the steam refresh cycle and although it did what it says on the instructions, I didn't find it was the best cycle might as well have done a quick wash. Any way today my new 13 day old machine decided to pour water all over my floor. Stopped the cycle , just pressed the off button and within seconds managed to open the door( not so easy with... Waited for 5 hours, still no call back from LG. Called them back and they took my details and told me that an engineer would call me back and make arrangements for repair. I went on to ask how long would it be for the repair and was told that it would aup to 48 hours for the engineer to phone me and he would then give me a time frame for repair. I told LG that this was not acceptable as the machine is only 14 days old. No real empathy from the call handler. No offer of faster assistance taking into consideration how long I had been in possession of the machine. He went on to inform me that I was within my rights to ask for the machine to be replaced as I was within the 28 day replacement contract. I said OK I will have it replaced. Yes you have guessed it they will not replace it I have to go back to the shop where I PURCHASED it. LG customer services just seemed as if they just wanted to pass the butt. Thank goodness for Debenhams customer services. They immediately offered to replace the machine but they would not have my particular machine for 4 days because it was out of stock at the warehouse and then it would take anther 24 hours to deliver. I said that I need a machine next day and I didn't think that I should have to wait longer than a maximum of 48 hours for a replacement. I was given the offer of an alternative machine. I was then put onto a sales person and he told me what was in stock and available for next day delivery. |I was offered a larger load machine 8kg and all the spec were the same but no steam function. I realized after using the machine that the steam function was not going to be a program that I would use, so I agreed to the alternative option. Next day delivery, and £72 cheaper that was returned to my account. Now that is what I call good customer service.

“Excellent washing machine. I have never spent so much...”

Excellent washing machine. I have never spent so much money on a machine before but soooo worth the money. The steam refresh is useful for reshreshing items such as coats, trousers in fact anything you want. The steam is also useful for deep down stained clothes. On some programes you can add this feature to enable stain removal.
YOu can also adjust the temperature and spin cycle.
Sometimes too many options on a machine dont get used but on this I have tried them all as so easy to decide... (read more)

I nearly didn't buy the LG 11kg steam direct washing machine due to a few bad reviews I read.
So glad I did as it is by far the best wasing machine I have owned, need to read the instruction to get maximum benefit.
Also got out stains out that I thought would never be shifted. (read more)

“Dreadful machine: I will never ever buy an LG product...”

Written on: 15/09/2010 by SheffieldDave (1 review written)

Dreadful machine: I will never ever buy an LG product again.
Bought as it supposedly had hot and cold fill and I have solar water heating.
No hot water used.
LG refuse dto accept this.
Machine blew up in spectacular firework display at 11 months old.
LG took 9 weeks and involvement of Trading Standards to get the parts to mend it under warranty.
Engineer agreed that hot fill didn't work but said that this was "normal" for this model.
Rinsing so bad that at least 2 extra rinses needed after... (read more)

My LG Steam also blew up - smoke poured from it. It was 2 months out of warranty. It was a £650 machine and like you it has taken 3 months of trading standards and consumer direct assistance to finally get them to give my retailer an uplift number so I am able to replace it. 3 months - no washing machine - has been my idea of hell.
<br/>Boo to LG!

“LG 14440TDS: I have two major issues with this...”

Written on: 19/07/2010

LG 14440TDS: I have two major issues with this machine. It is sold as hot and cold fill. I want hot fill because I have solar water heating. But it does NOT hot fill. Initially, LG did not believe me but eventually an engineer called and discovered that is does hot fill... for 6 seconds; the rest is cold! Issue two, the detergent draw is not big enough to hold the powder for a large heavily soiled load where water is hard. So the powder flushes over into the fabric conditioner compartment... I am so glad that I am not he only one who was conned into believing that his machine used hot water and who found that LG refused to accept this.
<br/>I involved Trading Standards and Which? but by the time they sent someone to inspect it it had blown up for the 3rd time and as the service was so utterly diabolical the first twice it blew up I scrapped it and bought a 23 year old 2nd hand Hoover that really does use hot water.
<br/>Don't buy LG: the washing was awful, the rinsing atrocious and the customer service was so appalling that I can't find words (at least not polite ones) to describe it.
