Good sound quality. Compact base station recharges headphones without any wires or visible contacts. Good finishes and styling. Headphones 'sleep' when not in use to increase battery life. Ear cups should have been better ventilated to reduce moisture when worn for long periods of time. I liked most of the features but would have appreciated if Faster pairing is established by consuming less power. Planning to purchase a MX-BT30 headphone.

I wanted the Sony MDR-RF860 headphones for my playstation, but I initially had some issues;
I wondered if the battery pack, in the headphones, was going to make them too heavy? It does not!
Also, I downloaded the manual from Sony, before I bought them, to see about connections, power supply and any special considerations. The manual stated that I could not use the charging base station near any metal objects or any corruptible media such as credit cards, floppy disks etc. I have deliberately put them near to metal objects to see if they would get hot and they do not - in fact, there are metal contacts on the back of the base station for the audio and power connectors and they do not get hot either. Sony covering their liabilities? I would not put corruptible media near them or any other electrical source.
I have used these headphones, continuously, on a single charge for over 8 hours.
The headphones switch off, when not worn, by employing a second internal headband that activates a breaker switch. The headphones are placed in the station when not in use and seem to fit well and accurately for re-charging. They use a FM (analogue) transmission to carry the signal to the earphones, whilst this gives a greater range than say; bluetooth (digital) it is more susceptible to signal degradation and interference, although I have not experienced this in use.
If I wanted headphones for a mobile or mp3 player I would definitely opt for bluetooth and bud type ear fitting. These fully enclosed cap headphones are ideal for around the house, in the garden or where a long distance, non-secure, wireless applications are advantageous.

I found this review not helpful because...I did not find data I was looking for. I need to know "Sound pressure level in dB"
