Ordered a product and received the confirmation email. Nothing arrived after 9 days so I contacted customer services. They said the item was not in stock and they wouldn't fulfill the order. The advice consisted of basically ringing around individual stores myself. Poor service with generic cut/paste replies from customer services. “Stealing from my credit card”

I made an order online from the web site and the next day at about 14 hours after their first withdraw ,I was shocked that they withdrew extra GBP 18.20 from the same credit card I used ,without any explanation. “Remains to be seen”

Unlike other reviewers, I have always got through to their Customer Services immediately. However, I find the results poorly lacking. Emails are responded to after days, promises are made on calls but never followed through. Even the complaint email they offer on the website is a black hole. I have to add that after dealing with this company over the phone,that their customer service is simply superb. They go out of the way to assist and couldn't be more helpful. Thumbs up!

“Misleading customer services”

I am living in the USA, On a trip to the UK last week I ordered some trousers from a UK store, I was informed that The White Company is now in the USA so if I needed to return my order I could do that to the USA. My trousers are a really bad fit so I wish to return them. After calling the supposedly US Customer Services, (clearly based in the UK) I was informed that I had to pay international postage charges. “Online Customer Service very poor -won't buy from them...”

Very tricky people - be careful. It promised .... "Just in time for Christmas... for standard delivery, order by 19 December” so I ordered a mirror on the 10th. Didn't get a confirmation email so I called them - they confirmed it had been dispatched and I checked on the web and it had. I was promised on the phone it would arrive on the Friday. “Totally misled about my Christmas order”

I have shopped with this company at Christmas for years so am frankly disgusted about my treatment this year. I placed an order which failed to arrive, called about it 3 times and was told it was being resent. “Outstanding Bad service”

I bought cashmere bed socks for my 82 year old mother at Christmas. In January 2013 she emailed to say they had holes in heel after 16 nights of use. It had taken until today and endless emails and telephone conversations to have this resolved. They refuse to replace these socks having said they have problems with customers retuning bedsocks. “"Luxury" bedding pills badly AND THEY DON'T CARE!!!!”

I bought two Fenton duvet covers from The White Co after reading their description of their 600-thread count sateen smooth silky finish. They were about £100 each. After about six months of light wear, I noticed that they had pilled very badly and now felt like ageing bobbly winceyette on my skin. Most unpleasant. I have just seen your review. I experienced the exact same thing last summer with the Hemple bedspread. Pilled terribly and looked awful. They also told me it is to be expected! After weeks of phone calls and emails arguing my case they agreed to refund me the cost of one of the bedspreads. Luckily I still had my receipt. I spoke to a lady who was trying her best to be helpful but obviously the decision was not up to her. Most terrible customer service. I just wish people would know how this company treats its customers before they purchase anything from this store.

“Shrunk "Luxury" Mattress Topper - useless service”

I bought a luxury mattress topper for £140 6 months ago and after careful laundering as per label instruction it shrunk by 25 cm! It was quite thick so it became impossible to use. I contacted the White Company and they refused to refund or exchange on the grounds of a missing receipt. Apparently they has to prove I bought it from my company (of course, this is on the label, but let's use the excuse anyway). I had the same problem.
They would not refund with a receipt either. So I stopped buying larger items from them, even though I bought a lot in the past.
Now I get some clothes (as the last resort only), but knowing their cheeky policy, I pay with a credit card, and will dispute the transaction with my card provider, should the quality be garbage again and them rejecting a true claim.

Having paid over £150 for a duvet cover, I was very upset when after 6 months occasional use it was bobbly. Following numerous calls and returns I received a letter saying the Carlyle duvet cover may be less hard wearing and can pill a little (understatement!!!) they suggested I get a pilling comb to remove the bobbles. I clearly spent vast amounts of money on what was described as quality bed linen to then have to buy a comb to remove the bobbles!!!! I will not be shopping here again… Read Full Review

I purchased via the web site a duvet and also some Montabello bedding. The buttons continually come undone when you are asleep and your feet get caught in them. Having relocated abroad 2 years ago, I have continued to order from them given they are one of a few companies that will deliver internationally.
