Baines and Ernst instantly took the weight off my shoulders as soon as they said they could help. I was struggling after taking on all the household bills and they helped work out what i could afford. I have never had any problems even when having to change payment dates due to my wage payment dates being odd. I think the only thing that lets Baines and Ernst down is the admin fee on a monthly basis as I was told once I had paid the original fee I wouldn't pay anything else. Never the less... (read more)

At times when I thought someone was going to come knocking at my door for money, they were very reassuring, which in turn helped me relax and feel safe. I approached Baines & Ernst when I realised that my credit card repayments were getting out of hand. They were extremely helpful and set up a Debt Management Plan immediately. It was made clear to me that there would be a monthly fee of £35 for the service, but for peace of mind I thought that this was worth it and it's good to see my debts reducing for a manageable monthly outlay. I've no idea where they got my number but had a phone call randomly. they seemed very nice polite genuine. talked me in to a plan agreement etc. when I've gone further in to it they are wanting to take more than half for them self they make you think their doing you a favor they only end up paying like a pound a month to each debt. don't be conned they are charities that do it for free!! We used this company a few years ago now,we paid the best part of 500.00 up front as some sort of bond,this money would be returned when the plan ended,well we managed to repay our debts using my early retire- ment pension plus help from the Citizens advice,who on our behalf negotiated settlements,fine,but on contacting Baines and Ernst asking for our bond money back we were refused due to clearing these debts ourselves,so they effectively made money from us,not to our way a fair and just... Hi i have benn with B&E on a DMP for four years now i have Debt of £30,000 all interest has now been frozen and im paying £140 a month which is alot less than i was paying and all i can afford at the moment,All letters from creditors have stopped,yes they charge a £35 fee but for the work they do on your behalf its well worth it. The problem with CCCS, as I found out is that if you are not a UK citizen (I'm American but have lived in the UK for the last 18 years) they won't help you.

But what they don't tell you is that It's like Bankruptsy, you will not get any sort of credit in the future, that means insurance policies, car insurance nothing!!!!, in the small print on any policy it states, " Have you or any body in the house hold been in a debt management or Iva plan for the past 5years or Have you or anybody in the house hold EVER been made Bankrupt, Discharged or not. the Key Word is ever. Seems great at the time, but it bites you on bum in the future.

I have just finished my DMP with baines and ernst. Overall they have been great for me, my debt is paid off, well nearly but i am going to do this on my own as the fee makes my payments look a little pathetic It was set up very quickly and thankfully i was one of the people who's interest was frozen so again its been great for me. I've been on a plan with Baines & Ernst for about a year now and, so far, it's saved me a fortune, they managed to get my combined monthly payments to the companies I owe money to down from around £720 to just £260 and whats better is that I don't have to pay extra interest on top of my debt anymore so should have everything cleared a lot sooner. Now this isn't a free service, they do charge a set up fee but within a month this has pretty much paid for itself with the savings I make. (read more)

Yes baines and ernst take a management fee when going for a Debt management plan but what these people who are complaining about this below fail to realize is that the £35 per month is a lot less than the interest that the creditors are charging in interest each month. Going on to a debt management plan the interest will be frozen saving a fortune in payments to the creditors that does not go on the debt when you pay them direct. I have been with B&E for five years now, and I have around 14 monthly payments to go (Not in IVA). B&E have taken all my problems away from me, and any problems I now get from Creditors is taken care of straight away. I have recently spoken to Mike in their settlements team, who if I pay up now is able to save me a nice amount of money.
I would highly recommend B&E to anyone suffering from severe debt, as they have helped me go from £24k down to £3 with very little stress involved....

Yea they take the 1st 2 payments for there fees but if your used to struggling paying £550 per month and then reduce it to £265 then so be it, its money saved instantly. Previously I was waith the cccs who provide a free service but I now understand why! My sister recomended B&E to me and Thank God she did. We started paying back debts (which were above £16,000) with their help. They were so helpful and said it would take about 10/12 years to pay back at the amount we could afford.....8 years later were almost all paid up. They have been there to answer all our questions and are always willing to help with the creditors when they get in touch. We dont mind paying a fee for them to do the work as they have really helped.

Dont touch them with a barge pole. Great sales pitch initially. Once you set up your direct debit with them you only get to talk to inexperienced people who have no idea of the stress being in debt causes. As a result their laxidasical attitude will get you further into trouble. EG slow dealing with court papers and lying about when they recieve them even though you have recorded delivery proof????
Plus i have to constantly talk to creditors about what was happening because B&E take so long...
