“Howdens appliances; Rubbish!!”

Written on: 22/05/2013 by fatmog

Had a Howdens kitchen fitted by a local builder approx three yrs ago-the quality and installation was great but there has been loads of problems with the appliances-control knobs continually melting on grill/oven, intermittent fan fault in oven; hob control knobs melting, a faulty integrated microwave oven that had been wired up wrongly on at the factory[no product recall despite being thrown across the kitchen a couple of times when attempting to operate it]and the extractor fan blowing up... “Howdens reddish branch”

Written on: 21/05/2013

I purchased a kitchen from howdens reddish early this year. I found the staff very helpful although my fitter was not at my house the day they delivered my kitchen there driver who came on his own did not see that as a problem (unlike delivery drivers from other companies) and carried the items into my house and stacked them neatly so I had room to walk around them. He explained that a few items where to follow as they was out of stock but he came back with them the following day I would... (read more)

“black high gloss kitchen doors damaged... HELP!”

Written on: 10/05/2013 by chantydani (1 review written)

help! I have had my kitchen fitted for 4 months. It is the black shiny kitchen which is called the high gloss. I have noticed that about 4 of the doors appear to have bubbles and a bit of splitting in the middle of the doors. It looks as though the laminate is peeling off. I dont understand this. Its a small kitchen but there is no damp in it. i know that i havent dripped water down the fronts. I clean it about twice a week with a damp cloth. I have contacted my builder and he is... i think time after time, the lesson to be learned by most of the reviews here is
USE A PROPER KITCHEN COMPANY !!
who in their right mind uses a builder to choose ,supply, and fit a kitchen .
Please use a showroom where at the very least you could go and camp outside until your problem is resolved

232 reviews and not all bad over what 3 or 4 years during which howdens have sold about 1.2 to 1.6 million kitchens. and is the uks biggest supplier of kitchens.

apart from new builds the builder/joiners customer chooses the kitchen/design and layout which is then supplied by howdens to the account holder to fit for his customer they then pay the builder who then pays howdens.

I know this may appear daft but are you sure the joiner has removed the clear film that protects gloss doors while fitting ,this can be difficult to see and can bubble months later giving the impression that the doors are bubbling.when all that is required the film to be removed.

worth checking. anyway

if it isn't that keep at the depot the doors have a 2 year warranty against manufacturing faults or materials.

READ MY REVIEW UNDER MAZANDDAVE! this is exactly wht happened to me but i have 19 doors bubbled. Why is it a receipe for disaster? like some people have commented. I also bought my kitchen this way via howdens. The reason i bought my kitchen this way is because i had it massively extended, with a lot of building/structural work, all done through my builder. When you have a howdens representative come to your home like i did, how are any of us to know that HOWDENS OFFER SUCH A DESPICABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. ALL 19 doors of mine are warped and they blame windowlene. however, the 2 doors that they replaced which were never cleaned by windowlene were bubbled after 2 weeks! work that one out! Also all the goods from supplier 1 (from howdens are bubbled), whereas everything from supplier 2 is fit for purpose (the black high gloss tall kitchen units and trims). how come i clean with with the same product on supplier 1 and it is ok and wrecked with supplier 2 goods. My bubbles are not tiny either, fully peeling off doors 7 months after fitting!

So BIGTUM why shouldnt people by from builders, especially those having full building works and the kitchen is part of the job, howdens did bring door samples! THE FACT IS WHO DO HOWDENS THINK THEY ARE SHIRTING AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT THEY SUPPLY SHODDY GOODS THAT ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. THAT IS THE REALITY HERE! The work my builder has done is outstanding, it is HOWDENS!. Roll on the £350 independent report from the furniture ombudsman as if my kitchen is not replaced, every TV programme i know is going to hear about HOWDENS, as are trading standards, etc., i will ensure that company never forgets who i am!

Whilst I think you are admirable to be fighting for your rights, don't take it out on poor old Dnaltocs. I think he/she was trying to be helpful, and their comment about 'disaster' for the end user is simply because the law allows Howdens a 'get out of jail free' card by substituting the builder as the customer. What, for example, would happen if your wonderful builder went bust or refused to deal with the problem? You should not need to threaten a company with bad tv publicity to get action from them.

For all people looking at these reviews, I have discovered that a company called MFI started and owns Howdens and in 2010 they changed their name to Howdens Joinery Group. MFI were infamous in the 1960's 70's and 80's for selling both kitchen and bedroom furniture that would fall apart. That says it all, really, doesn't it?

Hiya

Deliveriy time will always be approximate and never exact due to traffic etc, so usally am or pm I would be very surprised if they 10:30am.

Like most companies it will only ever be curb side only as they won't be held liable for any damage caused by taking it into your home, you should of been informed of this prior to delivery, if not then that is a poor service and as for the manager arguing with you this is unacceptable.

Hope this helps, kind regards chapinch

“horrible Howdens”

Written on: 29/04/2013

Beware before you buy from Howdens! Spent 1000's on a high quality oak wood floor. The floor has a 30 year guarantee which is not worth the paper that it is written on. The floor is not fit for purpose, stains have appeared since it has been laid and it scratches and dents very easily. Howdens have the policy that if you have a problem you must go through your original builder, you cannot deal with Howdens directly, so when problems arise you cannot take action, Howdens will not deal... Chapinch2002's Comment

Hiya

is the floor solid oak or engineered? If so then has any lacquer been applied as this will prevent stains and give it protction against scratches and dents.

As for going through the builder the flooring will be guaranteed for a period of time and so you will be able to go direct to the company who will then send someone out to asses the damage.

Hope this helps kind regards chapinch

Don't for one minute think that, 'you' are the customer. The kitchen planner might be all nice and smiles when they print off pictures of your dream kitchen. However their customer is the builder. If you pay the builder and then he doesn't pay Howdens then you have no comeback to Howden's. You are left high and dry. Remember that many builders have, 'credit' accounts with Howdens. When we started to run into problems with the builder, I specifically asked the kitchen designer we had been dealing with, ([name removed], at the Chesham branch, Bucks, (avoid at all costs)),
"has my kitchen been ordered and has it been paid for"? [Name removed] said, "yes, ordered and paid for". I asked these specific questions twice.
Due to these lies by a Howden employee, with oversight from the store manager and by proxy the company itself, it just made a bad situation worse. In addition Howdens were also engaged in false accounting behind the scenes to cover their position.
I'm not after a, 'free' kitchen. After speaking to Howdens area mangagers, customer services etc... No one got back to me at all despite repeated requests. It was a case of, 'your not our customer, go away', despite the fact that Howdens had escalated the problems by blatant lies and false accounting.
Howdens lied to me to, "cover' the builder.
Again, I'm not after a, 'Free' kitchen. I've got three quarters of a Howdens Kitchen installed. The shabby consequence of going to Howdens is there for all who visit our house to see.
Fully aware of laws of libel and slander, Howdens please feel free to take this further, I would relish playing this out in court.
How about this for your company slogan:
'Howdens', kitchen supplier of choice to bent builders, we will support you".

Hiya

So it sounds like you have employed a person to fit the kitchen who didn't use jointing compound on the mitres, which as any builder worth his/her salt will tell you is paramount in ensuring you have a solid water tight joint.

How you have come to the conclusion that this is a howdens issue I'm not sure, they didn't fit the worktops your fitter did.

Weather you think they are in cahoots is irrelavent as the builder hasn't done the job properly in the first place.

but I don't agree with him being rude and the manager not ringing back that is just poor customer service.

But as you say, yes take care who you employ to fit your kitchen.

“Lamona 50/50 Fridge Freezer (integrated)”

I have a howdens kitchen and have no complaints about the kitchen-but beware of the appliances. All my appliances were lamona fully integrated so were relatively expensive. The washing machine lasted 2 years and the fridge and freezer are rubbish!Th freezer is indeed too small to fit much in and in 2 or 3 months the drawers started to crack. The fridge door milk holder etc broke also in a few months as are very flimsy and the door hinges have now been replaced twice at a cost of over £50 time due to the weight of a 2 pint milk carton.I now have thrown the door holder away and put the mink on the main shelf. Also we had the bar handles which have had to be replaced as they have all gone rusty-they are supposed to be stainless steel but are not.
In short the quality of the kitchen is good but not the accessories.

Well, I could expect that a ringer for Howdens to make such comments as you have but on behalf of Mazanddave, you are insufferably rude. Where do you get off telling people they are messy or have a leak or the worst luck?????? You assume they have not already checked for leaks? Even if they were a 'messy sink user' it should make no difference whatsoever. All sinks suffer splashes and soakings from time to time and 99% shrug it all off as they should. And what is all this rubbish about the worst luck? How are any of your comments useful or helpful?

I had my kitchen revamped by More Than Kitchens of Rothienorman, Aberdeenshire. Less than one year later the work top started to "blister" where there was a join. Contacted them and they said it was "water damage" and my fault. This had happened to them only once previously and got the work top manufacturer out who said (of course) that it was water damage and not the workmanship.
Have to disagree - how/why was there water damage if it was sealed correctly.

Of course no-one happy with their stuff is going to write a review, but anyone reading such bad reviews is looking to see if there are specific problems to be avoided.

“Avoid Howdens Kitchens ”

My builder (who came very highly recommended) extolled the virtues of Howdens even though I had reservations about the design layout and preferred other companies. I didnt realise at the time what a parasitic relationship they have with each other - silly me for not doing more research As I thought the layout is dreadful and doesn't work, the designer didnt listen to what I said, within a couple of weeks the washer broke (avoid Lamona at all costs, the washer/drier, fridge/freezer and... I raised my concerns re layout with the builder, he assured me designer was the best they had and had designed many kitchens for his customers and indeed his own. When it came to fitting the island she had got measurements wrong, it had to go elsewhere, also layout re hob/sink etc are inconvenient to say the least. The designer went on maternity leave not to return, Howdens wouldnt do anything about it, even though when the reps came out because of other problems with fittings/white goods, they said she had made a pigs ear of the space. I found them rude, unhelpful and when a unit broke (because the washing machine engineer had leaned on it) I was blamed. Appalling company, I wish I loved my kitchen but I don't

Why oh why would you agree to a design when not happy with it and may I ask if your builder/fitter took the time to check the designers measurements? Any quality fitter checks a plan before installing. As for the pull-out collapsing, I would suggest that again your fitter is responsible. Lamona appliances have the best failure rates in most sectors but if I were you I would be demanding engineer visits and seeing if the appliances can be BER'd

Hiya have the company actually said they are trying to prove that the damage is your fault or is that something the rep has said. As my view is that as a company they would want to do the tests as to ascertain if there was a problem with the black gloss in general and they may need to stop selling it or review their manufactoring process.
What have customer services said to you other than they want to test the product?

Also note that i have been waiting for a resolution since NOVEMBER 2012 - 5 MONTHS LATER. do you think that is acceptable for a customer to wait for that long for a resolution when the kitchen was only fitted for 7 months. hi capinch, have you also looked at the significantly high number of people complaining on this review centre about bubbling doors. It just shows that this is not just a 1 off issue with myself. It is actually lots of us that are experiencing problems with peeling doors. Other websites such as mumsnett refer to the same. There evidently is a significant problem here. Furthermore, customer service is below standard with calls ignored, etc. They claim my kitchen is a 1 off and they have never heard of bubbling doors, i have told them to have a look at the review centre with similar complaints, they soon went quiet then.

Update on HOWDENS! they have now totally voided my warranty. Yes thats right all 19 doors a write off. they have voided my warranty as i used windowlene to clean the doors. They state that only water should be used to clean but i have no docs stating this. Also EVERYBODY i know uses windowlene and no damage. the internet states WINDOWLENE IS THE BEST THING TO USE!

Howdens still cannot explain why all doors provided by 1 supplier are bubbled, and yet large oven end panels, skirts, trims provided by another supplier HAVE NOT bubbled! strange...., 2 different suppliers yet 1 supplier is evidently fit for purpose and yet the other suppiers is ALL damaged. Howdens also cant explain why a door replaced was damaged after 2 weeks WHEN IT WAS NOT CLEANED. somebody work that one out.

Anyhow, just handed over £350 to the Furniture ombudsman. looking forward to this as I am a fighter! I will go to court and I WILL WIN. If either my builder or howdens dont cough up i will keep going to court until i have an attachment order on somebody's house! NO WAY am i ever going to go away.

There are a few of us complaining about peeling doors. We should get together and submit to the same courts our complaints and fight them together!

Chapinch2002's Comment

Hiya

With regards to the fridge door falling off, this is attached with a pair of appliance hinges but I always secure it with extra cabinet hinges as is recommended due to the weight of the door, did your fitter do this?

I'm not sure what to say in regards to the plastic parts in the fridge snapping other than they are just made of plastic and so seems very strange that they snap on their own. maybe you have temperature too low.

The worktops shouldn't be warping. Were they stored somewhere before fitting?

Them not returning your call isn't on at all, but they have come round and are looking into the problem.

With regard to the appliances they actually sell nearly four times the amount of their closest competitor roughly, so yes this does result in some negative reviews but guess what type in any appliance make and yes you will see plenty of bad reviews because most people only ever review based on a poor experience.

With regard to the getting food in-between the oven glass I'm not sure how you have managed to do this as this isn't a problem I've encountered and haven't had any call backs about, so in my view due it being an uncommon problem a solution isn't needed.

Hope this helps kind regards chapinch

REPEATEDLY replacing the doors for free confirms that there is a problem with the doors and it is not the customer abusing the item. As for your spurious comment about being perfect, that is not expected but better to be aimed for, although it is hardly unexpected from a company that used to be called MFI who was notorious for decades for shoddy workmanship.

Hi Stu31

I would say wait to see what their findings uncover it could be a bad batch as previously stated then they will replace all of the doors for you. As for further splitting I think they are guaranteed for 5 years so you should be ok in that respect.

With regards to discontinued products there isn't much you can do about that, all I can say is that if you've bought a popular kitchen you'll be ok for a long time, but it's an ever changing market and they will be constantly adjusting to market trends.

Why not report it to the company straight away and then they can see the problem and replace it if it's their fault. You haven't really given them any option other than to charge you for another one.

Nope, I think it's best they pay £5k to a local independent that will knock spots off Howdens customer services should any problems arise. Would also be nice to see the money that the account holder makes from the oblivious customer go into better fixtures and fittings and not into his bank account. It doesn't take a lot of shopping about to get a decent kitchen with 18mm colour matched carcases, 18mm base back panels and all the accessories vinyl wrapped (instead of foil or paper) for the same price or less than a multiple like Howdens. I'm not wasting my energy mentioning their delightful Lamona 'appliances'. Happy fitting and fingers crossed the carcases will be ready assembled square.

Any company that sells products as a business requires a retail licence, regardless of whether they are trade only!!!! There is no such thing as a trade license. Howdens runs it's business the same way as any other retail kitchen company and would pay the same license fees too. As for the Lamona failure rates, they are advertised in most of their stores, if you want to know the rates then just ask a member of their staff. Another thing that most people don't realise is that Lamona appliances are rebranded appliances from well known companies. The majority of their ovens are BEKO and their laundry appliances come from HOOVER, WHIRLPOOL and SMEG. One member of their staff even told me that if the failure rate is not below a certain level, they actually take off the name!!!

oh dear , have you not heard of a shop with permission for takeaway food etc Let me educate you, You cannot sell to the public (retail) from any unit on an industrial estate, so Howdens insist on customers being in the trade for this reason, some matalans require you to be a member before you can buy clothes ,this is to get around the same law .The council rarely clamp down on this law ,but if they did it would be disastrous for Howdens , They often serve members of the public , by giving a quote using some joiners account unknowingly.Do you seriously think Howdens give a stuff who is fitting their goods ???!! hahahah how funny.
As for Beko making the ovens i,d definatley keep that one quiet ,and apparently if appliances fail too much they are removed from sale !!! pull the other one !!

If, with a good company it is dealt with - no problem. It is only a problem for all concerned - including prospective purchasors - if these things are not being properly attended to. So first point of call if your appliance caught FIRE should be the person who fitted it, where they qualified as it's illegal if they weren't. Do you know how the oven was wired.

Just as if I'd had a washine machine fitted by a plumber and it leaked causing massive flood damage I would be phoning the plumber first not the brand of the appliance.

Thank you for your comments first I did use a qualified electrician when fitting the not only the oven but a complete rewire of my house in 2011 which I have all the paper work for. After the fire brigade had finished making everything safe they were more than happy that the fault was within the oven unit and felt no need to send a fire investigator out. The insurance company also wanted an electrician to come out to check they was no fault with the supply to the oven which I did and have a report from them confirming that. My problem is that no one from howdens or lamoma showed any interest that one of their appliances could have massive fault maybe with that batch of ovens. You mentioned the brand I would love to know they are many people on the internet have said they are relabeled beko’s which have been in the press this week for all the wrong reasons mainly causing fires. Do you who they are? If anyone from Howdens or lamoma want to come out to check the wiring in my house and look at the oven they are more than welcome as this is now in the hands of my insurance company who are seeking compensation.
Kind regards
Graeme

“Nearly there”

Written on: 20/02/2013 by Asmith461

We fell in love with a Howdens kitchen but unfortunately the price was just a little too high, although the quality was very good. Without us having to compromise on layout and appliances it was unfortunately out of our budget. On this occasion we decided to go with another company who were able to give us the internal corners and appliances we desired within our price bracket. May I take this opportunity to thank [name removed] for his time and patience and are sorry if we have wasted any... (read more)

“Howdens Kitchens - Rubbish”

Written on: 15/02/2013

Recently bought full kitchen and integrated appliances from Howdens. Not cheap but the quality very poor. A number of faults/flaws, some which only got resolved after lengthy wait, letters which they failed to answer and required me telling them that I would instigate court action. Dont expect any worthwhile after sales service. Company is a joke. (read more)

On the basis of your comments every kitchen fitted other than Howdens must have had the best fitters in the land since so many of these ex customers of kitchens from Howdens seem to be experiencing the same or similar problems repeatedly. You better start chewing on that new Howdens catalogue you just received.

“DO NOT BUY THEIR APPLIANCES”

Written on: 15/02/2013

YOU MAY AS WELL THROW YOUR MONEY DOWN A GRID AS PURCHASE ANY OF THE APPLIACES THEY SELL. DON'T EXPECT THEM TO LAST FOR LONGER THAN THE LENGTH OF THE WARRANTY - THAT'S ALL THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO. I THINK THEY PURCHASE BRANDED REJECTS AND LABEL THEM LAMONA. THEIR AFTER SALES SEVICES STINKS AND THEY ARE BASICALLY MONEY GRABBING VULTURES. NO SELF-RESPECTING BUILDER WOULD EVER RECOMMEND THEM - IF YOUR BUILDER RECOMMENDS THEM HE IS A COWBOY JUST LIKE THE ONE I HAD. I HAVE ENDED UP OUT OF POCKET... (read more)

Hiya

Sounds like you've had a rough time with the kitchen. So the appliances lasted only the 2 year warrenty? Was this down to the builder not installing them properly? If no then you've just been very unlucky.
As for the aftersales team they have always been very helpfull when one of my customers has had a problem, if it's out of warrenty what do you want them to do they cannot just give you a free appliance.

Chapinch2002 is a ringer for Howdens. Somebody ought to explain to Chapinch2002 in single syllable words that major household appliances SHOULD last longer than two years. Only a ringer for Howdens would continually INSIST on blaming the installers for every given problem.

The worst thing about a Lamona product that is sold exclusively by Howdens is that you cannot get spares for even parts that have to be regularly maintained without going through a builder who has an a/c with Howdens. We bought an extractor hood for our cooker via our builder who had purchased it at Howdens. It is a Lamona. It was not supplied with a charcoal filter for recirculation mode which is how we have to use it and I CANNOT buy it from Howdens unless I but it via a builder who has an a/c with them. I am no longer in touch with the builder who had sold it to us last year. This happens to be a part that has to be changed ever 3 - 6 months. So it is fit for the scrap heap as we cannot use it.

“I deeply regret using Howdens”

Written on: 04/02/2013

After much investigation, we had initially decided on a solid wood kitchen from Wickes. However, it was suggested we try Howdens in Andover. Right from the very start it was painful to say the least. Most of the staff (with the exception of two) were very unhelpful. Over inflated prices for extras, such as sink fittings. As for appliances, we stressed we wanted a Bosch built in fridge and freezer. We were conned into purchasing Howdens so-called equivalent sub-standard product badged as... (read more)

sorry to hear of your kitchen problems but as an experienced kitchen fitter i have to say the problems you are having are due to your incompetent fitter. acrylic worktops do not buckle or crack if done correctly. i assume they have not joined the worktops with the methods required. as for your pelmets, this would be the trim around the underside of your wall units if they have fitted these either side of your hob there are clearances of 700mm between them required which are building regulations. basically if you have a 600mm hood and the pelmets are not stepped back heat will be effecting them. if they have blown above your kettle or coffee maker this is the famous one where you should use common sense to avoid doing damage to the under side of your units. if the pelmets were made of plastic which they arent you could leave them in a bath and they would not swell.

Did an incompetent fitter cause the bottle rack and drawers in the fridge to break.....? Typical Howden response, blame the fitter or customer. According to BS 6222-3 maintaining the integrity of the surface finish is critical to ensure the underlying material (particleboard or medium density fibreboard) does not get wet and swell. Therefore if units swell under normal domestic use, it is because the surface finish was not adequate.

The worktop will need replacing within the next year. I have managed to fill the gap with a suitable filler - looks untidy, but it useable.

As for the fridge, i am not sure whether it was in response to my post, but I have been sent two replacement bottle racks, as they have admitted there is a 'design issue'........

“Fabulous kitchen!”

Great service throughout from Howdens, Halesowen. Geoff, a lovely, friendly guy, who was my initial contact with them, came to discuss the job, measured up and gave great advice. My fitter, who uses Howdens for most of his kitchens, did a fantastic job and we went back several times to them to change the design slightly (my choice). They were always really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen arrived in good condition and my fab fitter (G J Kitchens and Bathrooms) made a... (read more)

So, all you really got from Howdens were the carcasses - you got alternate appliances and alternate worktop. Did the doors come from Howdens and, if so, did you have the high gloss sort and how are they doing now?

“Howdens Kitchens - Terrible Company”

Written on: 17/01/2013

Disorganised and painful from start to finish. Kitchen layout badly designed/impractical/needed changing. Several items missing or damaged on delivery. Updated invoices never matched previous ones / items dropped out without explanation. Not enough worktop supplied for the design. Ripped off on extras. I would advise against using them unless you want to be left in a hole paying frustrated workmen who cannot complete the job due to missing parts and badly measured plans. (read more)

The kitchen units were delivered damaged and the service went from bad to worse. Units were either damaged or missing and what units were supplied didn't fit Howdens design. Howdens refused to visit to see problem or rectify anything, not even an apology for their diabolically bad service. Did you install or a fitter? Either way any half-decent fitter would check a plan before installing. If you buy an Installation from B&Q, Wren etc, they do a pre-fit survey. Why do they do that? As for damage, missing items I highly doubt a company of Howdens size would ignore you.

“Howdens Manager told me I did not force to buy”

Written on: 03/01/2013 by Hupset (1 review written)

I bought a New kitchen from Howdens, plus an oven and Hob in late October 2012. My Ceramic hob had problem before the New Year. I thought the ring has fall down, then called the Lamona customer service, the engineer came, he said it was worse than he expected, the base which holds the 4 rings, are totally separated from the glass, and luckily it was supported by the Oven underneath. My worktop get burnt a little bit. The Engineer said he needs to order a new glass or suggested me go back to... (read more)

I am in a similar situation to yourself but Jin a way yours is worse as you have he baby.. I bought a Lamona washer dryer in 2010! It went wrong at least 6 times within a year! On each occasion as I have an integrated kitchen, had to remove skirting, take off door and pull out washer dryer in or for them to repair it. I'd finally had enough and wrote a letter of complaint insisting they replace the washer/dryer. It was replaced in Feb 2012 and has once again broken down but this time it is irreparable! I advised that I do not want the shame brand as I'm not prepared to be inconvenienced like this anymore.

I have had to pay out lots of money going to the launderette as I have 2 young daughters! Taken time off work waiting for their engineers too attends, now I'm told they are not prepared to upgrade as it's too expensive for them!!!

I'm fuming and going to seek legal advice as I think they have NO customer service, I don't want a refund I want a machine that functions correctly and would be courteous if they actually looked at all the inconvenience a customer goes through rather than just attempt to fob them off! I bought a whole kitchen from them including appliances the least they could do is show some compassion and basic customer service!

This company appears to get away with things and not ever be challenged.. It's time for hat to change!

Hi I am so sorry that you have to go through all of this.
You are right it seems that the company is getting away with things so that when us the customers went into the store when something goes wrong, we are treated like nobody, the manager even shouted at me, told a replacement is out of question, they are not going to do anything other than repairing, I told him I only bought it two month ago, it is not like I used it for years, and the hob falling apart, and burning my worktop.
I feel that when this things happens, our voice is so low, do not know where to get help, the company must have some clause within their terms and conditions that covers their ass.
Their attitude makes me feel so bad for a few days. I had no hob for almost two weeks. As you said, you have to take time off to wait for their engineer to come, then they finally came, only stay for 2 minutes saying I can't do anything at the moment, I need to order for some parts, which is out of stock, then the waiting goes on and on.....

Ive had all my kitchen from Howdens and spent over £8000,had it for 2 yrs now but problems started with out built in oven,we replaced it about 3 mths ago with a new one from somewhere else.2 weeks ago my intergrated larder fridge starting playing up and am now waiting for engineer to come out with part to fix it costing £135,not coming untill friday 8th feb so been without a fridge for over 3 weeks. We have had all our appliances from them and wondering what is gonna be next to break down.Ive got a old fridge freezer in the shed and it must be over 10yrs old but works perfectly. This Lamona stuff is rubbish so my advice is never buy from Howdens.Gonna write a letter of complaint to them but dont think its gonna do any good as there after service is rubbish and they just dont want to know.

“KITCHEN FINISHED IN TWO WEEK NO PROBLEMS”
