At 25.07.2012 I ordered in “Targarent” Company a rental car by “Booking Group” for my trip from 27.07.2012 to 04.08.2012.The car I booked was “Renault Megane”. I had to pick it up in Milan Airport Malpensa and had to drop it off in Venice airport. I prepaid all payment by internet and in 27.08.2012 I arrived with my family to pick it up. “Never rent with targaret”

We rented a car through Targarent (location Aeroport Bari. The car didn't responded to the keys so I went back to the desk. He sent a machanic and he changed the battery. The carfinally worked. The car had bumps and was dirty. The fueltank was almost empty so I had to refill the tank immedaitly. After two weeks I went with the car to Lecce (200 km from the hotel) then the car went down. I rent a car for a week.
We got a fiat punto...this car had demages on five places...they were not on the papers!
Wen we came back one of these demages..was a newe one said the inspector!
There were sicx persones how knew that the damages was on teh car when we became the car!! They refused to return the surenty. So never hire a car at this company!!
It is a very bad company!

We had the same problem. We rent Citroen Jumpy from Bergamo airport and it was also damaged. On the tird day of our holidays the glass broke. We called to all the people from that company and nobody helped us. They suggest us to leave the car in technic service and come to Genova to pick new car. But there is no Targarent service in Genova. Anyway, we came to the airport to talk with people who work there. I have never seen such unprofessional emloyees. They let us think that this is our problem. We asked to talk with their boss but they stupidly said that he is sick. The most stupid alibi I ever heard!They also said that we wouldnt have to pay for the glass. But the glass was broken before we rented the car.
The company is very bad as it is employees. I am gonna take them to court.

Reserved through Budget. Went to the Targarent desk at the Catania airport per the instructions received when I made the reservation. The desk clerk spoke English well enough. The car had a small dent not shown on the forms, but he signed off on that when I showed it to him. I turned the car in before they opened and dropped the key in the box. I wrote backoffice@targarent.it requesting a receipt and got it the next day. No unexpected charges. (read more)

Our car broke down in a small town in Sicily. When we called roadside assistance, they sent someone to tow the car but had no plan for us. The closest Targarent location with a new car was two hours away. We were told over the phone to take a taxi, which they would reimburse us for, to get us to Catania to get a new car. When we arrived, they assured us in person that we would be reimbursed for the taxi service we had to pay for ourselves, which was 280 Euros. Now they are claiming there... (read more)

I have never written a review before today - but I'm so incensed that I have too warn other about this firm.

I was told the car had no damage when I checked it out on the 27th. I went to the car and looked it over and did not see anything out order. However, when I returned the car on the 1st of Oct, I was told that there was some damage done to left rear lower bumper behind the tyre. We rented a car few days ago with this firm. Unfortunately my credit card was stolen one week before the moment of the rent. When we arrived to the desk, the employed started to say that we don't have the "voucher of reservation". After a short a discussion he apologised and accepted the reservation email.(of course with the number of reservation)

We hired a car via budget, however they brokered it to Targarent.
Picking up the car was a lengthy action. It took the woman behind almost half an hour to make the necessary copies and prints, and she needed all kind of information we already entered on internet when booking the car.
When returning the car there was no car park available,so we needed to double park the car.
Dropping of the keys went very fast.

We rented a car through Holiday Autos who then brokered a deal through Targarent. Pick up at naples airport went ok. Car was in ok condition i.e. it could have been a lot worse. Drop off went without a hitch I gave the keys to the car hire rep who noted no concerns to me. Although giving the keys to some guy in a car park was not the best. When we came to this office and tried to get our car the woman in the office said she will not give us a car because she doesn't like our documents (or she didn't like we were Russians???) I picked up a pre-booked (from Australia) car at FCO. The staff at the counter were helpful and the car was clean and in good condition. My daughter and I drove through Italy, into France (to Paris) and back to Rome (nearly 5,000kms). The trip itself was enjoyable, but when we got back home I was overcharged by Targarent on my credit card. We just got back from a long weekend in Italy (flew into Naples and stayed in Positano). We booked through Lastminute.com and they brokered the car hire to a company called Targarent. When we arrived the car was filthy dirty and had marks all over it and bald tyres. We pointed these out and the attendant wrote something on the forms in Italian (the complete rental contract was in Italian) and begrudgingly we were on our way.

Dreadful. Never, never again. Booked through holiday autos, and this was cheapest. We picked up car at 20:00 when flight was scheduled. Man at desk was rude and offensive. Fiat punto, so can't get both our (only medium) cases into boot. He closed up. Car had 3/4 tank of fuel, no mention, but by then he was long gone. Can only confirm what others have reported. Booked on line through Holiday Autos for collection at Naples Airport. At the desk, had the distinct impression no booking was on record and were given a Fiat Punto in very poor condition (with a list of damage). On return the car was delivered during office hours and given to their representative in the car park who checked it over. can only confirm what the other reviews say, AVOID THIS COMPANY, charges made after returning home no explanion if fact they even said they had no record of the charge, car was full of marks, and tank only 3/4 full to start with, then after a day we noticed that the front tyres were almost bald, as of yet we cant get any sense out of these rip off merchants (read more)

Do not use this company as they will rip you off. The staff at Naples Airport were unfriendly and unhelpful. We had ordered a child seat and that was not ready. After a puncture, we paid paid 50 Euros for a replacement tyre and the company informed us that we would be refunded. The car was returned in the same condition that we had hired it and with a full tank. On return do the UK, there has been no refund for the tyre and 48 Euros have been deducted without authorisation. This is the worst company we have ever used. NEVER USE TARGARENT. They fleece you. We had no accidents and made no scrapes or bumps, yet they accused us of doing so and took £650 from our account after we returned from our holiday. We could not contest it (we have tried). They are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. MY ADVICE: DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THEM AND USE ANOTHER CAR RENTAL COMPANY. (read more)

We got the car in the dark without any explanations.
Next day we saw damages on the door and on the windscreen.
On the contrac we found two remarks of damages. We returned the car in the same condition.The office was closed.They booked a carge over 650,-' from our creditcard because of two further damages, wich did't excist.
We argued with the company without any result. We will never book again a car from Targarent. in www. you will find many other discribtions of bad experiences. (read more)

Targarent gave us a car which broke down after 2 days of use. The car had more then 66,000 Km on it and full of scratches. We phoned for assistance and no one seemed to understand plain simple English. We had to go back to the airport the following day to get a car. They gave us an Alfa station wagon which was better. These people are a bunch of crooks. They tried to sting me for two scratches that were there and were marked by them (deliberately?) on the wrong side of the car in the contract. The fact that the other side of the car was scratch free did not discourage the scoundrels. DO NOT USE TARGARENT!!!

Recent bad experience with Targarent. I booked my flight to Milan through Zuji (AU) and there was an offer for a discounted car rental. I didn't know what the car rental company it would be. So, it was a bit of a surprise.
I have to say that I paid in advance and the only thing I had to do was making a deposit for the car.
When I picked up the car from Malpensa airport they refused to accept VISA card (Cashpassport from Travelex) saying they couldn't use that card. Although I used it... (read more)

The Targarent rep did not know how to fit it and nor did she have any instructions. Then we discovered the very dirty and worn seat was actually broken - the foam side panel was split. Rented the car because of the slightly lower price. We had a normal walk around the car and we identified some minor dents. When returning the car all of a sudden the drivers door lock was checked and failed (when locking the car by remote the driversdoor could still be opened). When we rented the car from Targarent, we inspected the car closely and had difficulty finding the "damage" shown on the diagram. When we returned the car, the rental agent said there was a mark (scratch) about 5-6 inches long on the left front bumper which I could not see until I knelt down on the pavement. The car we were given was larger than booked, it seemed due to lack of a car in the range booked.
However the car we were given had 88000km on the clock and the bodywork was in very poor condition. With a family of 4, the lack of anyone at Targarent who spoke English and perhaps with hindsight a degree of blind faith etc we carried on.

I recently rented a Fiat Panda through Targarent of Fiumicino, Rome in Italy. Price seemed better than other places. I received the car with a dent on the front bumper. I had it documented. When I came back home to the US, I received a questionable charge on my credit card of $67. I had rented a car through car rental.com and they used Targarent in Rome. I made my reservations back in Feb 25 2008 and my visa was charged 377.22 Euros for a deposit. I got a Rental Voucher and was told to pick up my car at the Rome office on Via Anton Giulio Barrili when I got there they didn't have a car. We got a brand new car with only 38 km on the clock. The pick up office at Rome Arport is located beside all the other big copmanies (i.e. Hertz, Avis, etc), as is the area were you pick up and drop off the cars. The staff were very efficient and pleasant. We would use them again. (read more)
