Do not use this company as they will rip you off. The staff at Naples Airport were unfriendly and unhelpful. We had ordered a child seat and that was not ready. After a puncture, we paid paid 50 Euros for a replacement tyre and the company informed us that we would be refunded. The car was returned in the same condition that we had hired it and with a full tank. On return do the UK, there has been no refund for the tyre and 48 Euros have been deducted without authorisation. No one at Targarent answered and Holiday Autos told us to contact Last Minute. In short, we have been conned with no redress. BEWARE.

Upon return to the UK I noticed a charge of 43 euros on my credit card. The car was delivered back early, in undamaged condition and with a full fuel tank. The booking was made through Holiday Autos UK who used Targarent as their supplier. I am still awaitng an explanation or refund after 3 weeks.

This is the worst company we have ever used. NEVER USE TARGARENT. They fleece you. We had no accidents and made no scrapes or bumps, yet they accused us of doing so and took £650 from our account after we returned from our holiday. We could not contest it (we have tried). They are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. MY ADVICE: DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THEM AND USE ANOTHER CAR RENTAL COMPANY.

Appalling rude service. Car covered in scratches on collection. Credit card charged for £109 after return, for alledged 'extra scratch'

We got the car in the dark without any explanations.
Next day we saw damages on the door and on the windscreen.
On the contrac we found two remarks of damages. We returned the car in the same condition.The office was closed.They booked a carge over 650,-' from our creditcard because of two further damages, wich did't excist.
We argued with the company without any result. We will never book again a car from Targarent. in www. you will find many other discribtions of bad experiences. ...

Targarent gave us a car which broke down after 2 days of use. The car had more then 66,000 Km on it and full of scratches. We phoned for assistance and no one seemed to understand plain simple English. We had to go back to the airport the following day to get a car. They gave us an Alfa station wagon which was better. These people are a bunch of crooks. They tried to sting me for two scratches that were there and were marked by them (deliberately?) on the wrong side of the car in the contract. The fact that the other side of the car was scratch free did not discourage the scoundrels. DO NOT USE TARGARENT!!!

I am charged 200+ Euros through no fault of mine!

no Targarent representative about when we went to collect or return car, got home to find we had been charged 198 euro for damage though car was returned as we collected it. extremely poor service, booked through holiday autos who deserve better agents than this.

Recent bad experience with Targarent. I booked my flight to Milan through Zuji (AU) and there was an offer for a discounted car rental. I didn't know what the car rental company it would be. So, it was a bit of a surprise.
I have to say that I paid in advance and the only thing I had to do was making a deposit for the car.
When I picked up the car from Malpensa airport they refused to accept VISA card (Cashpassport from Travelex) saying they couldn't use that card. Although I used it everywhere ...

Very bad experience with targarent, after return they charged 172 euros to my credit card for a tiny scratch, without any notification. This is truely unfair and probably illegal.

Awful experience with Targarent - initially provided with a car with a flat tyre but, that aside, main problem was the child seat. The Targarent rep did not know how to fit it and nor did she have any instructions. Then we discovered the very dirty and worn seat was actually broken - the foam side panel was split. Despite it wobbling, she refused to accept this and claimed there was not another available. After much insistence from us, she managed to locate one in an equally disgusting state ...

Targarent charged EUR 632 after paying a rental of the same amt to our credit card without any notification for some tiny scratches on the car which we did not even incur. When we wrote to them, they did not respond to us at all.

Rented the car because of the slightly lower price. We had a normal walk around the car and we identified some minor dents. When returning the car all of a sudden the drivers door lock was checked and failed (when locking the car by remote the driversdoor could still be opened). We were 100% sure this did not happen during our 2 day rental amd said so. They would not charge the credit card until discussing it with us, they never called. When we rented the car from Targarent, we inspected the car closely and had difficulty finding the "damage" shown on the diagram. When we returned the car, the rental agent said there was a mark (scratch) about 5-6 inches long on the left front bumper which I could not see until I knelt down on the pavement. The car we were given was larger than booked, it seemed due to lack of a car in the range booked.However the car we were given had >88000km on the clock and the bodywork was in very poor condition. With a family of 4, the lack of anyone at Targarent who spoke English and perhaps with hindsight a degree of blind faith etc we carried on.After less than 300km the car broke down. I recently rented a Fiat Panda through Targarent of Fiumicino, Rome in Italy. Price seemed better than other places. I received the car with a dent on the front bumper. I had it documented. When I came back home to the US, I received a questionable charge on my credit card of $67. I had rented a car through car rental.com and they used Targarent in Rome. I made my reservations back in Feb 25 2008 and my visa was charged 377.22 Euros for a deposit. I got a Rental Voucher and was told to pick up my car at the Rome office on Via Anton Giulio Barrili when I got there they didn't have a car. We got a brand new car with only 38 km on the clock. The pick up office at Rome Arport is located beside all the other big copmanies (i.e. Hertz, Avis, etc), as is the area were you pick up and drop off the cars. The staff were very efficient and pleasant. We would use them again.
