My dad's now managed to write-off three of these. Each time the fault has been related to the collar at the base of the jug. In two cases bits of the collar snapped off. In the other case it just completely broke away from the jug.
The service offered by Breville to replace or refund has been generally poor.

Pros: Glass jug is really tough and sturdy, good quality. The motor is awesome I haven't put anything in it yet that it didn't blend to puree, including seeds and ice. Looks great. Sturdy base.
Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS POORLY CONSTRUCTED RUBBISH WHATEVER YOU DO! The seal drops out very easily and liquid spills everywhere. Then after 6 to 12 months the seal breaks completely. It was expensive so I'm now left trying to buy a spare blade and seal unit.

Despite having a 'chop' button, we found the Anthony Worrall Thompson blender unable to chop nuts. There's only one blade and approx 2 ins of space beneath it - the food you're trying to chop gets lodged there! It would have been easier to bash the nuts with rolling pin! I think the term 'Intelligent Blender' is misleading. Let's face it - lots of functions and just one fixed blade is incompatible with such claims. Overrated and over-promoted. (read more)
