This is the worst phone I have ever had!! Considering it was supposed to be a competitor for the I phone it's nothing in comparison. The touch screen is not very responsive, and it is not easy to navigate. I cannot wait to get another phone. The only good thing about it is the camera but again difficult to work out where photos are stored or how to move. (read more)

I currently own a samsung i900 an initially i thought this phone was horrible when i first got it and then i installed the wm6.5 rom and then all that changed...it is the greatest most powerful phone i have every owned..push email works perfectly, my messenger is flawless, and anything i can think of i can get it on my i900 currently i have a new media player, ps1 and vgba emulators they work flawlessly. battery reduces quickly however up still 40% after which the 40 last considerably... I have now come to the end of an 18 month contract and cannot wait to replace the handset. Other reviews cited a poor operating system, unresponsive screen, freezing and hanging applications; I'm afraid to say this is all true and in my experience in many respects generous.
I have also found that reception is poor on this handset, no or limited signal in areas were other phones (on the same network) have full strength.

Had the phone for nearly a year now and have had a love hate relationship with this phone. It has crashed a few times but none more than my windows pc does, ive found some brilliant apps and its become my mp3 player of choice (esp at gym). i do find the touchscreen to be non responsive sometimes though and the original software for contacts is rubbish, spb shell is a necessity! i have had duplicate texts sent but this seems intermittent and only really annoying for the person receiving... This phone would be a good phone if it actually worked properly. The first Omnia I had was was a complete LEMON. Touch screen wouldn't work, ringer would change ringtones, ringer would ring then not ring,some calls would come through,some wouldn't(and this in in regular tower zones)the texting would change languages...It was sooo weird. This phone is good but you need a little time and the new SPB shell costs £20 from Handster. This new software shell changes the phone completely and transforms it from a fairly dull unit to something similar to the iphone. The software WM 6.1 is fast enough and the features work a treat. Bluetooth, GPS, media play and access to all things like facebook, email internet etc is a single touch of the screen.
I like it it does everything well.

Have had the Samsung Omnia now for 8 months, on an 18 month contract and am very disappointed with the phone, and pretty much have been since the day I got it but thought I would get used to it. Very difficult to use, cannot see the screen outside and the phone often freezes.
I pay £35 a month and do not like the phone at all, but im not sure if there is any way of getting out of the contract, could anyone help?

I had the Samsung i900 Omnia phone less than a week and the screen froze, they replaced it and 5 months later it will not charge. It has been back supposedly to be repaired and once again it will not charge a week later. I am a bit annoyed!! (read more)

i900 Omnia is the 1st Samsung i have ever had and i will not be rushing to get another one. Can't see the screen outside in sunlight, it freezes regularly, need to use the stylus to make a call apart from your 4 favourite people. Won't connect to my TomTom (710) i had to buy a nokia for this. (read more)

In my opinion the Samsung i900 phone is not user friendly.
The user interface is not fast enough.
The presses are still inaccurate when using the keyboard.
The notion of "there is no need of a stylus" should not be in the same sentence as this phone.
When the battery goes dead it is really dead no chance to revive it for the car charger connect to the cigarette lighter.
No chance of seeing the screen if you use it in daylight.
Do not ever try to use this phone to call when you are driving...

If you are a business man like me and time is rather vital for you counts by seconds I strongly advice you not even to look or think about buying I900 omniyeh for it's rather slow system, slow in responding, and the camera is even slow if you are to catch a speedy scene. I got the Samsung Omnia i900 16GB about four months ago and have to say I am a little disappointed. I got the handset for free on a cheap 2-year contract from Orange, although if I had paid for it I would have been very dissatisfied.
The feature set on the Samsung Omnia is good with 3G, Wi-fi, full internet and a host of Windows Mobile programs. However, the touch-screen is unresponsive and innaccurate - it is pressure-sensitive, rather than the electro-static method used by the Apple...

Just to follow up on this, I have since downloaded the SPB Mobile shell, which overlays a different 'skin' and user interface for the Omnia.

<br/>Have to say this has made using the phone a lot more enjoyable (it's more touch-optimised), although native windows programs still run as they used to (adding contacts, etc).

<br/>Still not as good as an iphone and the touchscreen issues remain but I'd recommend the SPB Mobile shell to anyone who wants to make their Samsung Omnia more enjoyable.

Thanks for the information Tim but in the end I got so fed up with using the Omnia I got rid of it and brought the iphone 3Gs when they were launched....best phone ever.

Haha, fair enough, I can't say I haven't been tempted to do the same! Would mean buying out of my current contract as well as stumping up the cash for the iphone though so might stick it out for a while until I have saved a bit! :)

Not enough hours in the day day to describe how utterly disappointing the Samsung i900 Omnia phone is. Slow, poor sound volume, has a habit of resetting the options (esp when trying to sync). Runs Windows (should have been a warning in itself!). Puts sent tests into the Inbox! Which nutter thought of that one. Only seems to hold a history of the last 25 so mails recieve (inc the ones you sent).
Bateery life is dreadful 24hrs if you are lucky
What can I say? It look nice, a mate of mine...

I didn't like the Samsung i900 Omnia from day 1 but thought I will get used to it. But it is still as complicated... The system is just....bad. The internet is slow and hell to use on this phone. You can't even scroll down or zoom in without sceen flicking and doing all sorts of things you don't want it to do. Samsung i900 Omia is a fantastic phone. I can not understand how on earth anyone would find it hard to use, I set up mine exactly how I wanted it very quickly and was used to it in under a day. I upgraded to this from a terrible red light freezing useless Sony and so far this phone has not let me down once. The Samsung i900 Omnia is a great phone but the WiFi heats the phone up a bit, but not enough to stop the unit charging. Samsung's official response to my problem was to buy a bluetooth GPS device?!?!?! What's the point of having a built in GPS then? When used as GPS navigator in car after 30 minutes unit heats up to 80 c or 176 F which causes the unit to stop charging even while plugged into power. Can not charge phone until cooled down.

The Samsung i900 Omnia is very stylish and smart... a bit irritating when you gotta use the pen all the time, but it's ok... very easy to use and quite user friendly.. It does heat up and has a very poor battery life... as well as not having full 16gb memory... my omnia has 1gb on board memory and 8gb by memory card. I read a lot user comments and finally I choose the Omnia Based on my experience, the Omnia ticks all the boxes. In the past 2 weeks I have been using the GPS to travel around, MP3 player to listen to music and watch films, 5MP camera to take pics, make calls with the phone and installing a lot of softwares. Windows Mobile runs much better compared to 3 years ago and 16gb storage is satisfying. With one click and I make phone calls. I disagree with people who said that the screen is not... (read more)

I have gone from a Treo 700 (2 years), to a Blackberry storm to The Omnia. The Treo was ok, but locked up a lot and had a lot of irritating quirks. The Storm was cool at first, easy to set up email, but is TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE for looking up contacts, trying to do single handed texting, no scroll mouse, keyboard takes way too many operations to use, etc etc. Had it for three weeks and traded it on the Omnia. This phone is not user friendly enough for me personally, takes too much time to make calls, text or look up addresses. Highly overrated as this henders my ability to do business and follow up.
Over priced fancy phone that is good for the person that isn't on the go or in a hurry. If you want a phone that is easy to use this isn't it.

The Omnia had a worse GSM-connection stability/quality compared to my HTC P3300 (T-Mobile Compact III).
That's why T-Mobile offered to return the device and to cancel the contract, excellent service! Now I switched to another provider and chose HTC Touch HD, which surprised me fantastically.

This Samsung Omnia can be a little confusing but after you have had a play with it, in a few days you'll love it! However if technology or patients is not your thing i'd stay away as it may get the better of you!I think the omnia is great value for money, as the handset was free with a £25 a month contract from phones 4u, I was absaloutly amazed that a phone with windows mobile 6.1, touch screen, plus the other goodies that gives the i phone a run for its money, was available in this price... If you have a lot of contacts it slows the phone book down. I have 1500 contacts in the phone. Battery life is terrible. I mean real bad! I don't even use the phone that much and it's dead by mid afternoon. Phone has to many screens were things are to small to touch and the mouse isn't that great. Buy something else or wait for something better to come out. I was playing with Blackberry Storm today and it seemed a lot more user friendly. The Iphone is much easier to use but lacks the amount... Had the stylus for this phone been integrated with the phone itself, this would have got a 10. Unfortunately, it's not, and I regularly find myself without the stylus in my pocket.
This isn't a disaster, as the phone responds well to the touch, but sometimes, for more fiddly functions, its easier with a stylus.
Apart from that one grumble, I have found the phone excellent. It's not an easy beast to use, and can get a little complicated, but quite frankly - people who complain about the phone...

This phone you need to "play" around for a few days to get used to it, I nearly returned it until it finally clicked and great, it is much better than my previous HTC PDA phones.

Had the phone on Thursday as an upgrade to my N73. Best phone I had so far... You have all the basic stuffs you need in a phone. Even listening to music is great. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Nice looking, touch screen works great! A lot of futures with Windows Mobile 6.1. WiFi connection works fine and gives me possibility to use my Skype everywhere. Very nice and full with futures! I recommend Samsung i900 Omnia for a mobile phone. (read more)

The samsung i900 Omnia is amazing is the only word I can say this key bord malarki is not true, you have to be silly not to use that the faults that have been reported on hear arnt faults its just the person not using it right I give it 10 out of 10 the pen should have been bulit it but the finger mouse like on a laptop is easy to use final verdict is you have to set the phone up wich take a full day then after its ok 100% satisfide. I am truly amazed at the review score for this PDA/mobile. I guess many did'nt realise this aint a fashion phone unlike a certain fruity toy mobile out there. You need to get to know this piece of kit and if you have the brains to work it out your rewards are many. I found the battery life for a PDA excellent, I am sure some people expect this mini computer to last as long as a fashion phone well sorry it won't but nor will a fashion phone give you the things the Omnia does! Phone looks nice but I think it was released prematurely, it has tons of bugs, a short battery life, wifi not working properly and generally a useless phone in my opinion. Not recommended, and customer support from Samsng was very poor. (read more)

The i900 is probably one of the most perfect phones on the market make iphone look like a toy. :) Yes it takes a bit of time to get use to but well worth it. I thought it was a touch screen where infact you had to use a stick to use!
I wish there is more information on the Omnia before I got it as it too much , hardly competes with I Phone.
I wouldnt reccommend this to anyone.

A Samsung Omnia Review - I have had this phone for about a week. When I read about this I thought this would be a great rival to the iphone. It is not. Sadly this is another poor imitation.
I am now considering trading it in for an iphone, swapping contracts and waiting for the software to catch up. The touch screen is not very responsive and requires far more force than would be expected. My previous HTC was much better and neither are a patch on the response of the iphone.

After seeing a video review of the Samsung Omnia I was having doubts about my need for a keyboard as I originally wanted the Touch Pro or the Sony Ericsson Xperia. Anyway, patience and the fact of other keyboard handsets usually are more expensive I chose to go for the Omnia. Its quite a statement claiming it is all you will need but they are not far wrong. You have standard mobile feel with basic text, browse, calling and email plus the 5mp camera which you don't normally find in a windows... (read more)

Samsung Omnia Review - The specifications are excellent, but somehow the machine disappoints, perhaps as it is trying to do to much. It is certainly possible that a few firmware tweaks could turn this into an iphone challenger, but at the moment it is just a little too awkward and slow to use. Phone provided by Phones 4 U under a Vodafone contract.
Replaced faulty phone one week after purchase.
Replacement phone worked in-store, then went faulty (same fault) 24 hrs after purchase.
My belief is that the phone has been released without being proven and customers are being used as trouble shooters.

I completely agree with Tim Robinsons review, I could not decide between the iphone and the Omnia; I chose the Omnia (for free) but wish I had chosen the iphone. The touch screen is tricky to say the least unless you have fingers the size of a 2 year old. I dont know how many times I have sent a text when I wanted an "r" or the space bar! The stylus is OK but impracticle to carry with you hooked to the phone or in your pocket.
