Very fast (wheel spins in third), surprisingly practical, legendary engine and also high revving and is solid and reliable, surprisingly comfortable, packed full of gadgets for its age (electric mirrors, windows, sunroof etc) and I just love the sharp clutch and fast shifting gearbox. I recommend one now to anyone except for a first time driver as they would be flying through hedges and fields and also boy racers ruin them with Lexus lights and rubbish like that. I recommend this car to enthusiasts or people who look after them. wax oil the chassis as soon as you get one or even better galvanise it. then it should last you for life.

Excellent car to drive, if you can get a tidy one. Very under estimated. will always love the Toyota Corolla. Engine is indestructable! Excellent road holding, long gear ratio's, all the gadgets considering the year!

Wot a fast car. The Toyota Corolla Gti is still the best selling Hot hatch after Golf Gti but it will kill the Golf in every way. The Gti-16V is a hot hatch to be remembered and they hold their value, unlike NOVA's they NASTY. My Corolla is black has got 19" RSS Kahns on it, a full subaru impreza front (bonnet, bumber vents etc), flush tailgate, chipped, then superchipped, induction kit, full twin DTM exhaust, rear Escort cosworth bumper, cream leather interior,....etc
Overall 0-100 = 14.2 seconds (approx)
with a top speed of 135MPH (approx)

The GTi is a great car but to my mind not as good as its predecessor the GT Coupe (also called the Levin and the Sprinter in other countries). Same engine and probably slightly better performance due to it being a bit lighter plus all the joys of RWD. Sadly I sold mine rather than leave her in mothballs (she'd have been the perfect track day car or drift car) and not only would she have held her value (like the newer FWD GTi's) but she's now worth between 6 and 8 times what I sold her for!!!

I've got a gti-16v which has done 157k on the clock!! and it kills golf gti mk3 and 4's and most new cars out there!! No lie I've reached 140mph in mine... Which was pretty scary!! They maybe old but there the best!
